Human umbilical cord (UC) has been attracting increasing research effort in recent years.Since UC is a postnatal organ discarded after birth,the collection of its cells is non-invasive and raises no ethical con-cerns.Human umbilical cord provides large amount of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) which hold unlimited ca-pability of proliferation and great potential of differentiation and. MSCs have stable biological properties and low-er immunogenicity and can function well after amplifications.Studies have demonstrated that MSCs have the po-tential of inhibiting inflammatory response, generation of fibrosis, apoptosis and stimulating regeneration of hepa-tocytes.Therefore, UCMSCs could be an ideal cell source for the therapy of liver diseases.

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of liver-regulating and blood-tonifying acupuncture in the treatment of cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type. Methods:A total of 60 cases meeting the inclusion criteria were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 30 cases in each group. Cases in the observation group received liver-regulating and blood-tonifying acupuncture, in which Jiaji (EX-B 2) points of C3-C7, Ganshu (BL 18) and Geshu (BL 17) were used; cases in the control group received routine acupuncture treatment in which jiaji (EX-B2) points of C3-C7 were used. Both groups received 5 times of treatment in a week with a 2-day rest, symptoms evaluation was done after 4 weeks of treatment, and then therapeutical effect was evaluated. Results:The total effective rate was 90.0% in the observation group, 73.3% in the control group, and inter-group comparison showed a statistical significance (P<0.05). After treatment, the symptoms and signs scores in both groups all substantially dropped, showing statistical significances (both P<0.05); inter-group comparison showed that the improvements in subscales of dizziness, pressing pain along vertebrae and revolve-cervix test in the observation group were superior than those in the control group, showing statistical significances (all P<0.05), while the inter-group comparisons of subscales of headache and vomiting and nause didn't show any statistical significances after treatment (both P>0.05). Conclusion: Liver-regulating and blood-tonifying acupuncture is effective in treating cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type, and it can significantly improve patients' symptoms and signs.

The reproductive toxicity of environmental endocrine disruptors has attracted substantial attention from researchers in recent years. Bisphenol A (BPA) is among the most prominent environmental estrogens worldwide, demonstrated to be related with the impairment of male reproductive function as well as other health problems, such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. BPA acts primarily by mimicking antiandrogenic and estrogenic effects, disturbing the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis and modulating gene expressions and enzyme activities in the hormone biosynthesis affecting steroids or its receptors. BPA is also involved in DNA methylation and the effects of epigenetics, resulting in dyszoospermia, oligoasthenoteratospermia/azoospermia and/or infertility in males. This review addresses the effects of BPA on male reproductive function, focusing on the mechanisms of its toxicity on spermatogenesis, semen quality, and the reproductive system.

This article summarized the clinical researches on heat-sensitive moxibustion for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis from the aspects of simple heat-sensitive moxibustion and heat-moxibustion combined with other therapies. It analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the clinical application of heat-sensitive moxibustion, and discussed the ways of better using heat-sensitive moxibustion, with a purpose to inherit and develop it in clinical practice more efficiently.

ObjectiveTo explore clinical distribution rule of manifestations in patients with CAS,to provide objective basis of standardization,clinical diagnosis and treatment.MethodsEpidemiological methods were used to investigate on guanan'men hospital patients with CAS.Altogether 298 records of CAS patients were enrolled in this study,the frequency of main syndromes and the distribution characteristics of accompanying symptoms were analyzed.ResultsThe main syndromes of CAS were sputum stasis syndrome,qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome,and deficiency syndrome of both liver and kidney yin,all together accounted for 39.3％.The major symptoms were vertigo or dizziness (64.1％),chest distress (60.1％),dry mouth (63.8％),amnesia (58.7％),and insomnia (50.0％) separately.ConclusionSputum stasis syndrome,Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome and deficiency syndrome of both liver and kidney yin group were as a combine form in patients with CAS,and dizziness or vertigo was its main clinical manifestation.

Objective: To investigate the expression of CSF-1 and TGF-?1 in periodontal tissue of third premolar germ during second primary molar orthodontic movement in dog. Methods: Orthodontic appliance with the force of 0.784 N for the mesial movement of mandible second primary molar was used in 4 dogs for 14 d.Then the samples including mandibular second and third molars and surrounding tissues were prepared for CSF-1 and TGF-?1 detection by immunohistochemical staining technique. Results: Strong CSF-1, TGF-?1 expression was found in the dental follicle and alveolar bone of mesial part of third premolar germ, and weak in the dental follicle and alveolar bone of distal part of third premolar germ in the treated side of the dogs. Conclusion: CSF-1 and TGF-?1 may play roles in the bone remodeling for orthodontic primary tooth movement.

Objective:To explore the influence of embryonic stem cells-derived neural stem cells on the proliferation and secretion cytokines of bone marrow-derived macrophages. Methods:Mouse bone marrow derived macrophages were isolated and cultured in L929 medium. After macrophages were treated with NSCs supernatant for 3 days,SRB method was used to detect the proliferation of macrophages. The phagocytosis of macrophages were detected by incubating with RFP-Beads for 1 h. Meanwhile,the expression of TNF-α and IL-1β were detected by ELISA. Results:NSCs were successfully induced from ESC. In control group and NSC group, the proliferation rate of macrophages were 100 % and (126. 29 ± 5. 41)%,the phagocytosis rate were (70. 23 ± 2. 57)% and (90. 32 ± 8. 49)%. Compared to the control group,the levels of IL-6,IL-1βin macrophage treated with NSCs decreased (P<0. 05). Conclusion:ESC-derived NSCs can promote the proliferation and phagocytosis of bone marrow-derived macrophage, and suppress the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Objective To determine the association of glutathione-stransferase M1(GSTM1), T1(GSTT1) genetic polymorphisms, smoking and alcohol consumption with the risk of gastric cancer. Methods 1:1 matched case-control study and molecular epidemiology technique were used to analysis the genetic polymorphisms of GSTM1, GSTT1 genotype among 60 cases of gastric cancer patients and sex-and age-matched controls, who were selected from Nanjing Zhongda Hospital and Jiangsu Province Cancer Hospital. Statistical analysis was performed to elucidate interaction of GSTM1. GSTT1 genotype and smoking and alchol consumption in the risk for stomach cancer. Objective To investigate the differences between prenatal and postnatal ultrasound findings in isolated ventricular septal defects.Methods Totally 244 cases of isolated ventricular septal defect were retrospectively analyzed and followed in one year after birth.All fetus were divided into the correct group and the error group according to the postnatal results.The size and type of ventricular septal defect and ventricular shunt were assessed and analyzed statistically.Results In all of the 244 cases,correct group included 181 cases and error group included 63 cases.There was no significant difference in the type of defects between two groups (P=0.061);there were significant differences in the size of postpartum defect and the velocity of ventricular shunt between the two groups (both P＜0.05),and no significant difference of the direction of shunt between two groups (P=0.408);there were significant differences in the size of defects between the prenatal and postnatal in correct groups (P＜0.05),but the direction of shunt had no significant difference (P=0.087).Conclusion There is certain detection rate in prenatal diagnosis of isolated ventricular septal defect;anatomical characteristics of defect may affect antenatal examination results.There was significant difference between prenatal and postnatal ultrasound in the same lesion.

OBJECTIVE:To observe therapeutic efficacy of Rhodiola wallichiana injection for swelling and pain in fracture pa-tients during perioperative period. METHODS:120 patients with closed fresh extremity long bones fracture were randomly divided into trial group and control group,with 60 cases in each group. Both groups received open reduction and plate fixation. Before and after op-eration,control group was given routine medicine and anti-inflammatory treatment;trial group was additionally given R. wallichiana in-jection 10 ml(250 ml added into 5%Glucose injection)intravenously,qd,on the basis of control group. A treatment course lasted for 10 d. The swelling degree before operation,1 d and 3 d after operation,pain degree on the day of operation and 1,2,3 and 7 d after operation,complication and average length of stay were observed and compared between 2 groups. RESULTS:The extent of swelling and pain,the incidence of complications and average hospitalization days of trial group were lower or shorter than control group,with statistical significance (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:R. wallichiana injection can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, ease the hydropsia and pain,relieve swelling and pain,reduce the incidence of complications and shorten hospitalization day.
