In this study,the relationship between the advanced glycation end products(AGEs) and the expressions of receptor for AGEs(RAGE),intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) was investigated.The diabetic rat model was reconstructed and the fluorescence method,RT-PCR and in-situ hybridization techniques were used to detect AGEs content and the expressions of RAGE and ICAM-1 gene in the aorta and cardiac tissues.The results showed that AGEs content in aortic and cardiac tissues increased(P＜0.01) in diabetic rats; The expressions of RAGE and ICAM-1 enhanced (P＜0.05～0.01) and were positively correlated with the quantity of AGEs accumulation(P＜0.01) in the aorta and cardiac tissue.These parameters change in the diabetic rats can be improved with aminoglumine(AG) treatment.Suggesting that AGEs might induce RAGE and ICAM-1 expression.It's postulated that AGEs binding to RAGE play an important role to result in diabetic endothelial cells dysfunction and lesion.

The deletion of tumor suppressor gene PTEN's expression was familiar in many tumors, including prostate cancer. The guide would be given in the diagnosis, therapy and prognosis of prostate cancer by studying about PTEN's tumor suppression mechanism and relation with expression deletion. This review makes an overview focusing on the recent progress of PTEN's structure, function, expression deletion, and the correlation between PTEN and prostate cancer.

OBJECTIVE To study the state of mixed infection of sexually transmitted diseases(STDs) pathogens isolated from female genitourinary tract and analyze the clinical meaning.METHODS Gram staining and test under microscope,DIGFA,cultivation and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay were adoptmaed to detect five pathogens such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae,Chlamydia trachomatis,Ureaplasma urealyticum,Mycoplas hominis and herpes simplex virus.RESULTS Among 2 188 female patients,we got 175 mixed infection cases,accounted for 8.0%.77.7% Patients were 21 to 40 years.CONCLUSIONS We should pay attention to monitoring STDs and control work.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the nosocomial status and drug resistance of imipenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa(IRPA) to provide the reference for doctor′s use of the antibiotics.METHODS Totally 178 strains of imipenem-resistant P.aeruginosa were identified by the routine methods.And drug sensitivity was determined by Kirby-Bauer method.RESULTS All strains of IRPA were mainly from departments of respiratory diseases,tumor and geriatrics,most of them were isolated from sputum(62.4%).The susceptibility test showed that 100.0% IRPA were resistant to imipenem.Drug resistance rates to piperacillin,cefotaxim,gentamicin,ciprofloxacin and SMZ-TMP were all over 50.0%.CONCLUSIONS The status of nosocomial infection caused by IRPA is very serious.To detect and control the infection is very important.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy for ureteral calculi after failed extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy(ESWL).Methods A total of 89 patients with ureteral calculi were treated by ureteroscopic holmium YAG laser lithotripsy after failed ESWL.Among them,69 cases were complicated with ploypi or calculi surrounded by granuloma tissues,which were melted by holmium laser simultaneously;4 cases were complicated with distal ureteral stenosis,and received open surgery for resection of the stenotic segment.Results Of the patients,calculi were fragmented by one operation in 81 cases.The success rate was 91%.67 cases were stone free in one week and 14 cases in two weeks.In 4 cases,calculi were flushed into the pelvis,and were cured by open surgery.Conclusions Ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy is an effective and safe method for ureteral calculi after failed ESWL.It should be used as the first choice for the disease.

BACKGROUND:In recent years, endoplasmic reticulum stress-caused apoptosis plays a crucial role in ischemia impairment and has become the hotspot of studies addressing myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. The lower limb ischemic preconditioning (LIP) has the obvious protective effect on the immature myocardium, but until now, no study reports whether LIP effects on endoplasmic reticulum stress apoptosis in immature myocardial cells. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of LIP on endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis.
METHODS:Langendorff-perfused isolated rabbit hearts were used in this study. Twenty-four immature rabbits were randomized into three groups. Control group:Isolated rabbit heart was only perfused with Krebs-Henseleit for 180 minutes. I/R group:Isolated rabbit heart was perfused 20 minutes, and then ischemia for 60 minutes fol owed by reperfusion 100 minutes. LIP group:Limbs were repeatedly obstructed 5 minutes and relaxed 5 minutes for three times, to establish Langendorff models, and then repeated the method of ischemia/reperfusion in I/R group. The myocardial apoptosis was assayed with TUNEL method. The expression of glucose-regulated protein 78, Bcl-2, Bax and Fas was detected with western blot analysis.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with I/R group, apoptosis rate was significantly lower, the expression of Bcl-2 was significantly higher, and the expression of glucose-regulated protein 78, Bax and Fas was significantly lower in LIP group. This study demonstrated that LIP regulates myocardial cellapoptosis through reducing the expression of endopasmic reticulum stress GRP78, Bax and Fas and increasing the expression of Bcl-2.

Objective To prepare a new kind of biological agent initially,which will be used for emergent prevention or adjuvant therapy for paratyphia.Methods Paratyphia specific factor(PA-STF) was prepared in vivo and scanned with multi-wavelength using ultraviolet spectrophotometer.Then we determined the content of polypeptide and ribose with orcinol assay and modified Lowry assay respectively,followed by sterility test,pyrogen test and safety test.The immunological activity was assayed by immune protection test.Results The physico-chemical properties of PA-STF accorded with the criteria of Chinese Bioproduct Rules(2000 edition).In the immune protection test,the survival rate of mice was higher in the two experiment groups than in control group and NS group(P
