Objective To explore the temporal expressions of TIMP-1 and their relationship with injury time during electric injuris of hearts of rats. Methods Immunohistorichemical and image-analysis techniques were employed in 220V-electric injury of hearts during different time.ResultsWeak expression of TIMP-1 are deteced at 0.5h after electric injury, which increased subsequently, and peaked at 24~72h post-injury.Then decreased to pre-injury level at 12d.Conclusion The time-dependent expression of TIMP-1 during electric injury may be used for the estimation of injury time.

The effects of ATP-sensitive mitochondrial K(+) channel (mitoK(ATP)) on mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψm), cell proliferation and protein kinase C alpha (PKCα) expression in airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) were investigated. Thirty-six Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were immunized with saline (controls) or ovalbumin (OVA) with alum (asthma models). ASMCs were cultured from the lung of control and asthma rats. ASMCs were treated with diazoxide (the potent activator of mitoK(ATP)) or 5-hydroxydencanote (5-HD, the inhibitor of mitoK(ATP)). Rhodamine-123 (R-123) was used to detect Δψm. The expression of PKCα protein was examined by using Western blotting, while PKCα mRNA expression was detected by using real-time PCR. The proliferation of ASMCs was measured by MTT assay and cell cycle analysis. In diazoxide-treated normal ASMCs, the R-123 fluorescence intensity, protein and mRNA levels of PKCα, MTT A values and percentage of cells in S phase were markedly increased as compared with untreated controls. The ratio of G(0)/G(1) cells was decreased (P<0.05) in diazoxide-treated ASMCs from normal rats. However, there were no significant differences between the ASMCs from healthy rats treated with 5-HD and the normal control group. In untreated and diazoxide-treated ASMCs of asthmatic rats, the R-123 fluorescence intensity, protein and mRNA levels of PKCα, MTT A values and the percentage of cells in S phase were increased in comparison to the normal control group. Furthermore, in comparison to ASMCs from asthmatic rats, these values were considerably increased in asthmatic group treated with diazoxide (P<0.05). After exposure to 5-HD for 24 h, these values were decreased as compared with asthma control group (P<0.05). In ASMCs of asthma, the signal transduction pathway of PKCα may be involved in cell proliferation, which is induced by the opening of mitoK(ATP) and the depolarization of Δψm.

Journal of Kunming Medical University 2014;(1):109-111,124
Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of bortezomib +doxorubicin + dexamethasone (PAD) regimen in the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma (MM) . Methods Thirty-eight patients with MM in our hospital were selected and randomly divided into observation group and control group with 19 cases in each. The observation group was treated with PAD regimen and the control group was treated with VAD regimen (vincristine+doxorubicin+dexamethasone) . Clinical efficacy and adverse reaction were compared between the two groups. Results The effective rate and total effective rate of the observation group were 52.63%and 78.95%respectively, which were significantly higher than those of the control group ( <0.05 and <0.05) . There was no statistical difference in the incidence of adverse events between the two groups ( >0.05) . Conclusion PAD regimen could improve the clinical effect of treating patients with MM, and the adverse reactions can be tolerated. It is safe and worthy of clinical application.

Objective To analyze the monitoring data of iodine deficiency disorders in Jiangxi Province and to provide a basis for adjusting iodized salt concentration. Methods Thirty primary schools were selected in 30 counties and 40 pupils' goiters were examined with B ultrasound in every school. At the same time, salt iodine level was tested at their home.Twelve pupils urinary iodine in selected schools,15 pregnant urinary samples,15 lactating women urinary samples in 3 towns around the schools and water samples in the counties with the schools were collected. Results The goiter rate of children aged 8 to 10 was 1.25% (15/1 200); the median salt iodine was 30.80 mg/kg and the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt was 96.92% ; the median urinary iodine level of children, pregnant and lactating women was 308.73,206.95 and 206.75 μg/L,respectively.The proportion of urinary iodine level of children above 300 μg/L was 52.25%(186/356),while the proportion of urinary iodine level of pregnant women below 150 μg/L was 34.81%(157/451).The water iodine median was 4.62 μg/L and the per capita daily salt intake was 13.20 g in Jiangxi Province. Conclusions The status of iodine deficiency in Jiangxi has been significantly improved.According to the monitoring results,it's necessary to adjust salt iodization standards appropriately.

Biological, psychological and sociological model of medicine substantializes the old model lacking the social humane attributes. The new medical model makes people take medical anthropology into research and highly evaluate traditional medical system. Cultural anthropology of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is part of medical anthropology with three major characteristics: wide research scope, specificity, and integration. It has developed its own research methods, such as field investigation, comprehensive inspection and comparison study. Cultural anthropology provides an efficient research method for TCM, and its application would further develop TCM theory and form comprehensive evaluation on TCM effects.

Qualitative research methods are becoming more and more important in medical research area. Some qualitative researches played important roles in the exploration and the spread of core ideas of Chinese medicine. The report of qualitative research should be transparent and credible according to the standardized report criterion. On the basis of 22 criteria, the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ) was developed and published in September 2007. This introduction to COREQ will be helpful to Chinese qualitative researchers and readers in the implementation of high quality of medical qualitative research in China.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2007;5(5):497-501
Effect of clinical intervention on human body is multistage and multifaceted, involving physiology, psychology, social function and the surrounding resources, etc. Therefore, the range of clinical outcome assessment includes patient, his or her family and care giver. The evaluation of clinical intervention mainly focuses on its effectiveness, safety and health economics. Effects of clinical interventions are measured by comparisons of the outcome of intervention and control groups. Different effect measures come from different comparisons.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2007;5(1):11-4
Abstract: There are two stages for selecting the clinical intervention outcome variables. One is crude collection and the other is precise collection. The selection methods include brainstorming method, Delphi method, Gordon method, systematic review, systematic analysis method, mathematic model method and so on. Each method has some advantages or disadvantages. When selecting the clinical intervention outcome variables, researchers should make sure the research aim, the representative and the sensitivity of the variables, and select all kinds of recommended methods comprehensively, then decide which method should be used.

This article was aimed to study pretreatment method of styrene type macroporous resin and its application in the industrial production. The organic residues and heavy metals of styrene type macroporous resin were detected respectively by gas chromatography and atomic absorption spectrophotometry before and after pretreatment to optimize the pretreatment process. The results showed that contents of organic residues and heavy metals of styrene type macroporous resin with the preferred method of pretreatment are in line with relevant regulations. It was concluded that this pretreatment method was simple and feasible, which is suitable to be applied in the industrial production.

This paper explored the multi-angle, comprehensive and systematic clinical prac-tice teaching system for international students. Six teaching methods were integrated: bedside teach-ing, standardized patients teaching, electronic patients clinic teaching, Chinese students one-to-one help foreign students, a variety of English clinic small presentation and many after-school social activi-ties. The multi-angle, comprehensive and systematic clinical practice teaching system was evidently a better choice than traditional teaching system for international students.
