Objective:To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture (EA) plus self-made Jiawei Jinhuanggao (Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste) for gouty arthritis.Methods:A total of 80 cases with gouty arthritis were randomly allocated into an observation group (n=40) and a Western medication group (n=40). Cases in the observation group received EA and external application of self-madeJiawei Jinhuanggao(Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste), whereas cases in the Western medication group took Colchicine and Allopurinol tablets orally. After 10 d of treatment, the pain, joint swelling and uric acid in blood were observed. In addition, the follow-up was conducted 6 months after end of the treatment to evaluate the long-term effect.Results:After treatment, there were no between-group statistical differences in pain and uric acid in blood (P>0.05); and there were between-group statistical differences in joint swelling and relapse rate (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 97.5% in the observation group, versus 95.0% in the Western medication group, showing no statistical difference (P>0.05).Conclusion:EA plus Jiawei Jinhuanggao (Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste) has safe and long-term efficacy for gouty arthritis efficacy.

Objective To investigate the clinical results of combined TIPSS and azygoportal disconnection for portal hypertension in controlling and preventing esophageal variceal bleeding. Methods From Oct. 1996 to Dec. 2001, 60 patients with portal hypertension were admitted to our department because of variceal bleeding and submitted to the treatment with the combination TIPSS and azygoportal disconnection. According to Child Pugh classification, 11 patients were in class A, 37 in class B, and 12 in class C. 41 patients showed mild ascites and 8 with severe ascites. The mild and severe esophageal varices were proven by upper digestive barium meal. The procedure was divided into two stages; first, TIPSS procedure with the stent of diameter 0.8cm and length 6-7cm was successfully inplanted in all patients, second, all patients underwent azygoportal disconnection two weeks later after TIPSS. Results After the combination TIPSS and azygoportal disconnection, the recent complications included three cases with bleeding at operative fields, one case with infradiaphagmatic abscess and seven with slight encephalopathy. No rebleeding of esophageal varices and death occurred during the treatment. During the follow up of 1-5 years, the rates of shunt occlusion, rebleeding and death were 11.9%, 3.5% and 7.0% respectively. Conclusions The combination TIPSS and azygoportal disconnection is an efficient therapeutic methods for portal hypertension.

Objective: To explore the feasibility of needling the Belt Vessel (BV) for low back pain. Methods: The relevant literature was systematically reviewed; the relationship between the BV and low back pain was illustrated; the clinical features of BV-related low back pain as well as the key points of acupoint selection in treatment were summarized, and the efficacy of needling the BV for treating low back pain was observed. Results: The BV is closely related to low back pain. The main clinical manifestations of BV-related low back pain include sagging distension in the low back, enlarged abdomen, and pain radiating to the groin. The main acupoints for treating low back pain via needling the BV include Mingmen (GV4), Wushu (GB27) and Ashi points near the transverse process of the third lumbar spine. Needling the BV can swiftly and effectively relieve both the low back pain and associated symptoms. Conclusion: Needling the BV can effectively alleviate the typical BV-related low back pain.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of specific point acupuncture and manipulative adjustment on muscle strength of the knee osteoarthritis. Method: One hundred and five patients were randomly allocated to two groups. Sixty-eight cases in the treatment group were treated by specific point acupuncture and manipulative adjustment on muscle strength of the knee joint. While 37 cases in the control group were treated with specific point acupuncture alone. Result: The total effective rate was significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion: Specific point acupuncture and manipulative adjustment on muscle strength of the knee joint has a satisfactory curative effect on knee osteoarthritis.

Objective To realize the utilization of antibacterial drugs in pediatric inpatients in Children's Hospital for clinical reference of rational use of drugs. Methods By a retrospective study, 180 cases in pediatric inpatients were randomly sampled in Children's Hospital from July to December 2012, and were analyzed in utility rate, antibiotics varieties, administrational frequency,single dose,combination use,prophylaxis time,courses of drug use,etc. Results The use of antibacterial drugs in pediatric inpatients was 110 cases (61.1%) and used in combination was 55 cases (50%) . Leading the list in terms of DDDs was cephalosporins,followed byβ-lactam and its enzyme inhibitor complex preparations. The improper medications frequency was 12 cases (10.9%), irrational single dose was 7 cases (6.4%), and irrational course of treatment was 9 cases (8.2%) . Conclusion The utilization of antibacterial drugs in Children's Hospital is basically rational, but there still exist some irrational drug uses,such as antibiotics varieties,no indication, irrational dosage,long duration and irrational combination. So, it is necessary to enhance the administration of antibiotics use and improve the level of clinical reasonable application of antibiotics.

Objectives: To investigate the effect of growth hormone on liver protein synthesis in patients with portal hypertension following TIPS. Methods: Ten patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension were injected with rhGH (8 U/day) for 7days after TIPS. The serum levels of Alb, PA and FN were detected before and days 3 and 7 after TIPS and use of rhGH. Plasma insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF 1) was also measured by immunoradiological method. Objective To investigate the expression and function of SH2 domain containing protein tyrosine phosphatase SHP 2 of thymocytes in ? ray irradiation induced leukemia in mice. Methods BALB/c mice were divided into canceration group, non canceration group, and control group. The expression, level of tyrosine phosphorylation, and enzyme catalytic activity of SHP 2 in thymocytes were detected by Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and biochemical method. Results There was obvious correlation among the expression, level of tyrosine phosphorylation, and enzyme catalytic activity of SHP 2, which were significantly higher in the canceration group than those in the non canceration group and the control group ( P
