1.Effects of Cochlear Implants on Tone Production in Hearing-impaired Children
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2012;18(4):365-368
Objective To analyze the influence of cochlear implant age, sexuality, and rehabilitation time on tone recognition ability. Methods 272 hearing-impaired children aged 2~6 years old with cochlear implants were enrolled in the study. By three factors mixed design, the sexuality, age and rehabilitation time of the children (independent variable) and the tone recognition rate (dependent variable) wereanalyzed. Results The rehabilitation time and age had significantly main effect in tone recognition rate (P<0.001), but age (P>0.05). The interactionof rehabilitation time and age also had main effect (P<0.001). Conclusion Age and rehabilitation time are important factors fortone recognition ability. The younger the children are, the better the recognition ability is with the extension of rehabilitation time.

In order to screen genes transregulated by core protein of hepatitis C virus, cDNA microarray technology was employed to detect the gene expression change between HepG2 cells transfected with pcDNA3 1(-) core and the empty vector, respectively. Among 1152 genes, there were 95 genes with different expressions, of which 45 genes were upregulated and 50 genes were downregulated in HepG2 cells transfected with core protein expression plasmid. These genes transregulated by HCV core protein included human genes encoding proteins involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, signal transduction and immune regulation. Therefore, the results provided some new clues for further clarifying the molecular biology mechanism of pathogenesis and tumorigenesis of HCV core protein

Objective To revise the assessment of consonant vowel and tone recognition for cochlear implanted children. Methods 300 normal hearing children aged 2~6 years old were assessed with word lists for consonant and vowel recognition, and analysed with equivalency analysis. Results The incidence of consonant vowel and tone recognition was less than 90% in children aged 2~3 years old, but more than 90% in those aged 3 or more. Conclusion The assessment of consonant vowel and tone recognition for cochlear implanted children aged of 3 and above has been modified, and the assessment for those aged 2~3 years old has been developed.

Objective To study the efficacy of intravitreous injection (IVI) or sub-Tenaninfusion (STi) of triamcinolone acetonide (TA) for diabetic macular oedema. Design Retrospective cases series. Participants 37 cases (37 eyes) with diabetic macular oedema confirmed by fundus fluorescence angiography (FFA) and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Methods Patients were received 4mg TA by single intravitreous injection or 40mg TA by three times sub-Tenoninfusion at 0d, 2w, 4w. The best corrected visual acuity, fundus examination, intraocular pressure, fundus fluorescence angiography were further analyzed, and the retinal thickness of macular fovea were measured by OCT. Main Outcome Measures The visual acuity, thickness of retinal macular fovea, ocular pressure was measured. Results 32 cases (32 eyes) completed the 24 week followed-up. In group IVI, the visual acuity before and after injection was 0.10±0. 03, 0.24±0.06(F=15.459, P=0.000) respectively; and retinal thickness of macular fovea is(460.73±46.33)μm,(394.53±41.43)μm (F=25. 282, P=0.0000) respectively. But in group STi, the visual acuity before and after injection is 0.11±0.04, 0.18±0.07(F=6.989, P=0.000) accordingly; and retinal thickness of maculur fovea is (454.76±56.28)μm,(424.94±42.69)μm (F=5.145, P=0.000) respectively. There was obvious statistical significance between two methods at same time point(all P<0.05). The serious, irreversible complications had not been found in all patients during follow-up. Conclusion Triamcinolone acetonide by single intravitreous injection or repeatedly sub-Tenoninfasion are good ways to relieve diabetic macular oederna, IVA-TA is more effective, and STi-TA safer. Objective:To reseach the expression of green fluorescent protein(GFP)gene in prostate car-cinoma PC-3M cell line and the efffect of cell cycle. Methods:GFP gene recombination DNA was construct-ed and PC-3M cells were transfected with lipofectin regant. The expression of GFP was observed under in-vert fluorescence microscope.Meanwhile, the cell cycle of positive cell colon was assayed by flOw cytome-ter.Resuits:After transfection, about 10%~15%cells expressed green fluorescent protein and there wasno significant change compared the cell cycle of positive cell colon with parents cells. Conclusion:GFP sup-plys a new way in reseaching metabolic phenomenon of live cells.

Objective To study the characteristics of language function development and establish the reference standards in children of4~6 years old. Methods 616 hearing normal children at the age of 3~7 from 13 provinces in China were assessed with Language FunctionEvaluation for Hearing-impaired Children. 583 usable data were analyzed via SPSS 17.0. Results The older the children were, the highertheir scores of language function evaluation were (P<0.001). The differences between boys and girls on coordination function and relaxationfunction were significant (P<0.01). The girls were better than the boys. The reference standards of children of 4~6 years old were set downbased on the regression analysis. Conclusion There are some laws on children's language function development. The reference standards ofchildren by 4~6 years old has been developed.

AIM: To explore the molecular mechanisms of SC58125 on apoptosis in HepG2 cells. METHODS: Cell culture, ELISA, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, Western blot and electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) analysis were employed to clarify the effect of SC58125 on apoptosis in HepG2 cells and related molecular mechanisms. RESULTS: SC58125 induced apoptosis in HepG2 cells in a concentration-dependent manner, which was accompanied by inhibition of NF-?B, activation of caspase-3, decrease of bcl-2 mRNA and increase of p53 mRNA. However, no significant changes were found in the DNA binding of AP-1. CONCLUSION: SC58125 induces apoptosis in HepG2 cells, which may be related to the inhibition of NF-?B, activation of caspase-3, decrease of bcl-2 mRNA and increase of p53 mRNA.
