China Oncology 2001;0(03):-
Diminished apoptosis, due to overexpression of antiapoptotic proteins, is involved in tumorigenesis and chemoresistance. Antisense oligodeoxynucleotide (ASODN) has been used to inhibit the expression of antiapoptotic proteins(f.g bcl 2, bcl x L , survivin),aimed to induce apoptosis or enhance chemosensitivity. The combination of ASODN with conventional treatment is possibly a reasonable approach in furture cancer therapy. Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2012;21(4):197-198,202
Objective To investigate correlation between the expression of TIG1 and the prognostic significance in acute leukemia (AL).Methods The TIG1 expression level of 75 AL and 20 normal control (NC) were measured by Real-Time Quantitative PCR(RT-QT-PCR).Results TIG1 gene expressed at a higher level in NC(0.0609±0.0281 ) than that in de novo AL(0.0057±0.0035)(U=-6.321,P=0.000).The expression of TIG1 in complete remission patients(AL-CR)(0.0409±0.0244)were lower than that in NC too(U=-2.582,P=0.01).The expression of TIG1 in AL-CR patients (83.3 %) were higher than that in de novo AL (53.1%)(U=-6.366,P=0.000).In AL patients, the CR rate of high TIG1 level cases were higher than that in low level cases (x2=4.563,P=0.033).Conclusions Reduced expression of TIG1 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of AL.TIG1 can serve as a marker of poor prognosis in AL.

Journal of Chinese Physician 2001;0(07):-
Objective To Investigate the expression of metallothionein (MT) and p53 in non-small cell lung carcinoma(NSCLC). Methods The expression of MT and p53 was detected by immunohistochemical method in the paraffin-embedded specimens of 73 NSCLCs and 15 normal bronchial mucosal tissues(NBMT). Results [WTBZ]The positive rates of MT and p53 expression in NSCLC were 54.8%(40/73)and 65.8%(48/73), respectively, and in NBMT were 20.0%(3/15)and 33.3%(5/15), respectively. The positive rates of both MT and p53 in NSCLC were significantly higher than those in NBMT(P0.05). The positive rates of MT and p53 were closely correlated with the histological grades and lymph node metastasis of NSCLC(P

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of sorafenib in combination with interferon-alpha(IFN-α)as the first-line treatment in patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma. Methods Since Dec 2007 to Jun 2008,137 legal patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC)were enrolled in the trail from 22 hospitals in China. All the patients continuously received the treatment of sorafenib plus IFN-α untill disease progressed or patients were unable to tolerate. The primary end points were objective response, disease control rate and adverse effects rate. Results This interim analysis was based on the data collected from the study initiation date to 2009/3/20.The overall response rate(ORR),including complete response (CR) and partial response(PR),was 32.8%(45/137).The median follow-up time was 11.9 months, only 25 patients progressed at the cut off time. The most common adverse events were hand-foot skin reaction(48.2%),alopecia(23.4%),rash (20.4%),diarrhea(19.7 0A),fever(16.8%),lassitude(10.2%),etc.The incidence of 3 or 4 grade hand-foot skin reaction was 8.8%.Conclusions Sorafenib in combination with IFN-α as the firstline treatment in patient with advanced RCC could be effective and safe.

Two hundred and thirty-five patients of both sexes (123 male,112 female) aged 18-54 yr,weighing 35-62 kg underwent repair of tetralogy of Fallot from January 1996 to July 2009 in Fuwai hospital.Direct BP, ECG,CVP,SpO2,naso-pharyngeal temperature and TEE were continuously monitored during operation.Anesthesia was induced with midazolam and/or etomidate, fentanyl and pipecuronium and maintained with isoflurane/sevoflurane inhalation and intermittent iv boluses of fentanyl and pipecuronium. The total amount of fentanyl administered ranged from 30-50 μg/kg. Cardiac function was supported and hemodynamic stability was maintained with vasoactive and inotropic drugs. Measures were taken to strengthen blood conservation and respiratory function support.Seven patients(2.9%) needed urgent CPB during operation because of serious cyanotic spells. Perfusion-induced lung injury occurred in 18 patients (7.6%). Circulation was assisted by ECMO in 2 patients (0.9%). Three patients (1.3%) died of serious low cardiac output and perfusion-induced lung injury.

Cardiac arrhythmia is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases, with high morbidity and mortality, which threatens human health and lives. With the development of medicine, natural products are revealing ever-greater anti-arrhythmic benefits and potential. However, their targets have not been fully clarified. In the recent ten years ,scientists have been studying the molecular mechanisms of natural products that have been found to inhibit INa,ICa-L,Ito,IK1,IKr,IKM3,HERG channel current and steady state K+ current, promote IKs and IKATP,inhibit microRNA-1 expression and change cardiac microRNA expression profile, affect Na+-K+-ATPase and superoxide dismutase activity, inhibitβ receptor and angiotensinⅡ receptor, and regulate lipid metabolism, thus affecting cardiac rhythm and exerting anti-arrhythmic effect. This paper revies the research advances in the antiarrhythmic tar?gets of natural products.

Objective:To investigate the prognostic value of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) before radiation in pancreatic cancer patients underwent radiation therapy. Methods:Clinical data of 61 patients with pathologically confirmed pancreatic cancer were retrospectirely analyzed. Query index values for each patient were clinically tested through electronic medical records. Overall survival (OS) data were collected through electronic medical records or telephone follow-up. Survival curves were compared using Kaplan-Meier methodology and log-rank test. Cox regression methodolo-gy was used for univariate analysis. Results:Using log-rank test and univariate regression analysis, we found that patients with lower NLR, PLR, CA19-9, increased PNI, and lower TNM-staging lived longer than those with increased NLR, PLR, CA19-9, lower PNI, and high-er TNM-staging, and that the difference was statistically significant. Through multivariate analysis, we found that NLR (P=0.029, OR 2.344, 95%CI:1.090-5.041) and PNI (P=0.026, OR 0.477, 95%CI:0.248-0.917) were independent predictors of OS in patients with pan-creatic cancer. Conclusion:NLR, PLR, and PNI are simple, effective, and reliable indicators for evaluating the prognosis of pancreatic cancer.

In recent years, the incidence of iatrogenic bile duct injury has increased. The traditional treatment methods often cause severe complications, such as biliary-enteric anastomosis, which removes the sphincter of Oddi's function. With the development and potential translational use of engineered tissue, surgeons have focused on keeping normal physiological function after operations. In this manuscript,we review the strategy to repair bile duct defects without sacrificing the sphincter of Oddi' s function. This article may be referenced for clinical research.
