Objective To understand the relationship between the requirement and the consumption of the health management, and provide the theoretical basis for the developing of China health management. Methods It took the survey to understand the relationship among 152 medical staffs from the six counties surrounding with Shi Jiazhuang downtown. Results 85.5%of medical staffs always and almost accept health advisory and provide health guidance. There are not the direct relationship between the requirement and the consumption(x2 = 9.39,P>0.05 ). Health advice and guidance are not translated into the concepts of investment on the health management and disease prevention (x2 = 1.69, P>0.05 ). The medical staffs don't realize it is important to invest on the health. Conclusions Related industries should strengthen the training on the health management, publicize this profession, promote the development of health management services and improve the national health quality.[ Key words] Health promotion ; Needs assessment; Economics

Objective To explore the incidence and risk factors of bacterial infection after othtotopic liver transplantation (OLT). Methods Altogether 56 OLT recipients from January 2005 to October 2007 were included in the study. The incidents and the related variables of the infection were analyzed retrospectively. The related variables were evaluated using multivariate logistic regression model to identify the significant risk factors. Results Bacterial infection was confirmed in 29 recipients (51.8%). Among them, the lung infection was the most common site (53.7%). The Gram-positive cocci were 46.3%, while the Gram-negative bacilli were 53.7%. The risk factors for bacterial infection included duration of the operation and detained respirator using. Conclusion Bacterial infection is a major complication following OLT. Surveillance for the risk factors, enhancement the skill of operation, and improving the recovery of respiratory function is the key to decreasing the incidence of bacterial infection after transplantation.

Objective To observe how brain death affects the hepatic morphology and function of pigs and explore the roles of NF-κB. Methods Under general anaesthesia twelve healthy pigs were allocated randomly to two groups:control group(6 pigs),with non-inflacted Foley balloon catheter placed in the cerebral ventricle for 24 h,and brain death group,6 pigs, with estabhshment of brain death for 24 h.The serum and hepatic tissues in the same locus were taken at 6 h,12 h,and 24 h after the initial conformation of brain death.AST and ALT were determined by automatic biochemistry analyzer.IL-1βwas determined by ELISA.The NF-κB mRNA was determined by Real-time PCR and the NF-κB p65 by immunohistochemistry. Results The AST,ALT,IL-1β in serum, the NF-κB mRNA and the NF-κB p65 in hepatic tissues in brain death group were higher than those in control group and they all increased with the time(P<0.05).In brain death group, hepatocytes were edematous lightly after 12 hours, and the swelling progressively deteriorated after 24 hours, but there were no necrosis. Conclusion The activated NF-κB by brain death promoted the synthesis and release of inflammatory mediators, resulting in the hepatic dysfunction.

AIM: To investigate the effects of simvastation on homocysteine-induced endothelial dysfunction and inflammatory response and the underlying mechanisms of such effects. METHODS: MTT assay was used to detect cell viability, and DCFH-DA assay was used to examine the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Furthermore, Western blotting was performed to detect protein expression and electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) was used to detect NF-?B DNA binding activity. RESULTS: Homocysteine (0.1-1 mmol/L) decreased the human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) viability and increased the levels of ROS. Western blotting and ELISA showed that homocysteine significantly increased the expression of TNF-?, IL-6, MCP-1 and ICAM-1. However, pretreatment with simvastation (1-20 ?mol/L) reversed the decreased cell viability and markedly suppressed an increase in the ROS level and the expression of TNF-?, IL-6, MCP-1 and ICAM-1 induced by homocysteine. Homocysteine induced p38 phosphorylation and such phosphorylation was also inhibited by simvastation and antioxidant NAC. EMSA and Western blotting showed that homocysteine induced NF-?B activation due to the increased phosphorylation of the inhibitory protein (I?B?) as well as the degradation of I?B?, while simvastation pretreatment almost completely blocked the NF-?B activation as well as the phosphorylation and degradation of I?B?. CONCLUSION: Simvastation inhibits homocysteine-induced endothelial dysfunction and inflammatory response through interfering with ROS-p38-NF-?B pathway.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of ambient conditions on the antibacterial activity of inorganic antibacterial agent based on sodium titanium phosphate.
METHODSThe number of live E. Coli ATCC 44113 was counted after the suspension was shaken and incubated in flask with antibacterial agent under ambient conditions.
RESULTThe number of live bacteria increased when the concentration of bacteria increased in the range of 1.2 x 10(2) to 1.2 x 10(8) cfu/ml. The antibacterial activity increased with the increase of ambient temperature in the range of 16 approximately 46 degrees C, showing good antibacterial activity at human body temperature. With the increase of the concentrations of co-existing NaCl and protein, the antibacterial activity was found to decrease at first and level off at 0.01 g/ml and 0.0005 g/ml respectively.
CONCLUSIONThe antibacterial agent has to be used together with organic antibacterial agent in order to achieve good antibacterial effect when the ambient bacterial concentration is high. The antibacterial agent is promising to be used in the preparation of antibacterial cloth because it is highly effective at body temperature and expected to remain antibacterial in perspiration.

OBJECTIVE:
To detect pathological variant in two patients with Chediak-Higashi syndrome (CHS) from a consanguineous family and to explore its genotype-phenotype correlation.
METHODS:
Clinical data was collected for this pedigree. Genomic DNA was prepared from probands' peripheral leukocytes and their relatives' fingernail. Whole exome sequencing and Sanger sequencing were carried out to detect potential variant of the LYST gene.
RESULTS:
The proband presented with partial oculocutaneous albinism, immunodeficiency and acidophilic inclusion body in bone marrow and blood smears. A novel homozygous nonsense variant c.8782C>T (p.Gln2928*) was identified in exon 34 of the LYST gene in the sib pair. The same variant was found to be in heterozygous status in 6 unaffected individuals from the pedigree.
CONCLUSION
Above result enriched the mutational spectrum of CHS and provided a basis for genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis for this pedigree.
