1.Analysis of Adaptive Service of Assisitive Devices for the Limbs Impaired in Guangzhou: 281 Case Report

Objective To analyze the adaptations of assistive devices to persons with physical disability.MethodsThe demands of assistive devices for 281 persons with various severity levels of physical disability involved in using assistive devices adapters were compared.ResultsThe total need rate of 281 cases for assistive devices was 74.73%. The more severe persons with physical disability was, the greater the demand of assistive devices was ( P<0.001).ConclusionTo deliver suitable services adapted with assistive devices to persons with disabilities, the exact needs of assistive devices for persons with disabilities could be met. Thus assistive devices for persons with disabilities could be delivered in a timely manner.
2.Effects of Shensongyangxin capsule on ventricular electrical properties, structural remodeling and cardiac function in diabetic rats

[ABSTRACT]AIM:TodeterminetheeffectsofShensongyangxincapsule(SSYX)ontheventricularelectrical properties, structural remodeling and cardiac function in the rats with diabetes mellitus (DM).METHODS:Male SD rats (n=45) were randomly divided into control group (n=15), DM group (n=15) and SSYX group (n=15).The rats in DM group and SSYX group were injected with streptozotocin (60 mg/kg, ip), while the rats in control group were given normal saline (1 mL/kg, ip).The blood samples were collected 72 h after treatment for determining the blood glucose lev-els in DM group and SSYX group .The model rats in SSYX group were administered with SSYX (1 g· kg-1 · d-1 , ig) for 6 weeks, while the other rats received normal saline (2 mL· kg-1· d-1, ig).The echocardiography was used to assess the cardiac function , and the lead II electrocardiogram was also recorded in all the animals .The radioimmunoassay and Masson trichrome staining were used to measure the plasma levels of endothelin -1 (ET-1) and the collagen deposition in the ventricles, respectively.A whole Langendorff-perfused heart model was used to conduct the electrophysiologic study .The monophasic action potential ( MAP) and the ventricular effective refractory period ( VERP) were recorded in the left anteri-or free wall ( LAF) , and the burst pacing was used to induce ventricular arrhythmia ( VA) .RESULTS: Compared with control group, the VERP, action potential duration (APD), QT interval, incidence of VA, degree of myocardial fibrosis and plasma level of ET-1 were increased , while the cardiac function was declined in DM group .Compared with DM group , the VERP, APD, QT interval, incidence of VA, degree of myocardial fibrosis and plasma level of ET-1 were all de-creased, while the cardiac function was improved in SSYX group .CONCLUSION: SSYX attenuates the electrical and structural remodeling and improves the cardiac function in DM rats .
3.Compound implant surface produced by alkaline and sandblast treatment on titanium

objective: To produce titanium dioxide hydrogel layer on the pure rough titanium(Ti) surface. Methods: Pure Ti discs( d =15mm) were polished to 600 grind, sandblasted and etched with acid, socked in 60 ℃ 5 mol/L NaOH solution for 24 h and then heated to 600℃ for an hour to get goughening, alkaline and heat treated Ti(RAH). The smooth, rough and RAH surfaces were analyzed with scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy despersive X ray analysis(EDXA). Results: On smooth surfaces only regular polished grooves could be seen, while holes in different diameters formed on rough surfaces. A porous framework was found on the surfaces of the RAH observed by SEM. EDXA showed that the smooth and rough surfaces were consisted of 100% Ti, while there were a lot ofoxygen and sodium in RAH discs. Apatite formed on the RAH Ti surfaces when it is soaked in simulated body fluid for two weeks. Conclusion: A porous Ti dioxide hydrogel layer forms on the rough titanium substrate during alkaline and heat treatment.

5.Ventrieular remodeling and matrix metalloproteinase-1 and its tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 in serum in third trimester of pregnant women with cardiac disease

Objective To analyse the relationship between the left ventricular(LV)structure,function and changes of concentration of serum matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1),tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-1(TIMP-1),and evaluate the value of the change of serum MMP-1 and serum TIMP-1 in ventrieular remodeling of pregnant women complicating cardiac disease.Methods Fifty-eight cases of pregnant women with cardiac disease divided into three groups[group A had 17 cases who had clinical manifestations and no left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH)],group B had 15 cases who had clinical manifestations and LVH but no palmonaly hypertension(PH),group C had 26 cases who had clinical manifestations,LVH and PH which divided into three groups again:11 cases of slight group[PH from 30-49 mm Hg(1 mm Hg=0.133 kPa)],9 cases of moderate group(PH from 50-79 mm Hg)and 6 cases of severe group(PH≥80 mm Hg).Fifteen healthy pregnant women acted as control group.The left ventricular structure and function[(left ventrieular nlasS index(LVMI),left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(INEDd),Ejection fraction(EF),E peak(E),A peak(A)and E/A],pulmonary pressure and plasma MMP-1,TIMP-1 values were determined in the third trimester of pregnancy.Results(1)LVMI (148±7)g/m~2 and LVEDd(58.9±3.5)mm in group C increased significantly(totally P<0.01),EF (51.0±4.4)% decreased significantly(P<0.01),E(50±10)cm/s decreased significantly(P<0.01),A(81±13)cm/s increased(P<0.05)and E/A(0.6±0.3)decreased significantly(P<0.01)compared with normal subjects,group A and group B.(2)LVMI(150±7)g/m~2,LVEDd(69.7±3.4)mm in severe pulmonary hypertension group increased significantly(P<0.01),EF(45.6±2.6)% decreased significantly(P<0.01),E(44±9)cm/s decreased(P<0.05),A(86±8)cm/s increased(P<0.05)and E/A(0.52±0.17)decreased significantly(P<0.01)compared with slight and moderate pulmonary hypertension group.(3)Plasma MMP-1(41±10)μg/L and TIMP-1(393±37)μg/L values in group C increased significantly compared with normal subjects,group A and group B(P<0.01).(4)Plasma MMP-1(42±7)μg/L and TIMP-1(411±31)μg/L values of severe pulmonary hypertension group increased significantly compared with slight pulmonary hypertension group(P<0.05,P<0.01).(5)The correlation analysis indicated that:There was positive correlation between the serum concentration of MMP-1 and TIMP-1(r=0.587.P<0.01).The serum concentration of MMP-1 was positively correlated with LVMI and LVEDd significantly(r=0.782,P<0.001;r=0.648,P<0.01)and was negatively correlated with EF significantly(r:-0.587,P<0.01).(6)Plasma MMP-1 values>50μg/L and plasma TIMP-1 values >450μg/L in 3 cardiac disease failure cases.Conclusions (1)The ventricular remodeling can be found in the third trimester of pregnancy of women complicating cardiac disease,and the more serious the left ventricular hypertrophy and PH,the more obvious the ventricular remodeling.(2)The changes in the plasma MMP-1/TIMP-1 values and MMP-1/TIMP-1 balance may play an important role in the left ventrieular structural.functional,and clinical manifestations of pregnant women complicating cardiac disease.(3)An increased MMP-1 and TIMP-1 level maybe can predict the presence of cardiac disease failure.
6.Tei index for right ventricular function monitoring in pregnant women complicated with cardiac disease and pulmonary hypertension

Objective To investigate clinical value of Tei index used for monitoring right ventricular (RV) function in pregnant women complicating cardiac disease accompanying pulmonary hypertension(PH) and the influence on left ventricular(LV) function due to overload pressure of RV. Methods Fifty-eight pregnant women complicating cardiac disease (including 32 cases with congenital heart disease,14 cases with rheumatic heart disease and 8 cases with arrhythmia)were enrolled in this study, among 26 cases coexisted with pulmonary hypertension. According to the pressure of PH, those patients were divided into three groups:11 cases in mild group[30-49 mm Hg (1 mm Hg=0.133 kPa)],9 cases in moderate group (50-79 mm Hg)and 6 cases in severe group (≥80 mm Hg). In the mean time, 15 healthy pregnant women were matched as control. Tei index were measured for LV and RV respectively. Results (1) The isovolumetric relaxation time [IRT,(93±52) ms] and isovolumetric contraction time [ICT,(66±41) ms] of RV in PH group were significantly higher than normal controls [(39±19) ms in IRT and (38±20) ms in ICT] and the other patients without PH group[(59±12) ms in IRT and (43±19)ms in ICT, P<0.01, P<0.05;P<0.05,P<0.05]; however, ejection time (ET) was(239±46) ms significantly shortened in PH group (P<0.05,P<0.01) when compared with (250±41) ms in patients without PH and (299±38) ms in normal controls. Tei index in PH group were 0.72±0.49, which were significantly higher than 0.38±0.12 in normal controls and 0.43±0.16 in patients without PH (P<0.01,P<0.05). (2) The IRT[(99±27)ms] and ICT[(71±40) ms] of LV in PH group were significantly higher than in normal controls [(88±20) ms,(50±24)ms] (P<0.01,P<0.01). ET of LV in PH group [(202±26)ms] were significantly shortened that (290±21)ms in normal controls and (220±36)ms in patients without PH (P<0.01,P<0.05). Tei index of LV in PH group were significantly higher than 0.43±0.15 in normal controls and 0.58±0.21 in patients without PH (P<0.01,P<0.05). (3) Positive correlation between Tei index of RV and pressure of pumonaroy artery were observed (r=0.84, P<0.01). (4) Tei index of RV in severe PH were significantly higher than mild PH (0.75±0.43 vs. 0.68±0.35, P<0.01) and moderate PH (0.75±0.43 vs. 0.71±0.14, P<0.05). Conclusions (1)The Tei index is a novel efficient Doppler index in assessing RV function of pregnant women complicating cardiac disease accompanying PH. And the fluctuation of Tei index might reflect seriousness of the disease. (2) The overload pressure of RV pressure due to PH has significant influence on LV function.
7.Anatomy of the mandibular branch of facial nerve and its clinical significance

Objective To investigate the course of the mandibular branch of the facial nerve and to discuss its clinical significant in the rhytidectomy. Methods The distribution of the mandibular branch was observed in 30 halves of the fifteen candaveric specimens (ten antiseptic cadaveric specimens and five fresh cadaveric specimens). Results The mandibular branch could be divided into the isolated branch type and shared branch type, after it exited from the parotid gland. 63.33 % mandibular branch was found (2.1?0.7) cm superior to the palpable edge of the mandibular bone; 23.33 % mandibular branch was along the edge of the bone; and 13.33 % was found (1.8?0.5)cm inferior to the palpable edge of the bone. Conclusion The distribution of the mandibular branch locates in the area that is a digit superior and inferior to the lower border of the mandibular bone, which arises from the angle of the mandibular bone. The dissection beneath the SMAS-platysma should be with caution of the injury of the ramification of mandibular branch in the anterior border of the masseter muscle.[
8.The diagnostic value of preoperative MRI for advanced gastric carcinoma

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of preoperative MRI for advanced gastric cancer and metastasis. Methods MRI was preoperatively performed in 36 patients with advanced gastric carcinoma by the superconductive type of magnetic resonance imaging instrument through a single breath holding fast scan sequence, the results were correlated with the intraoperative and histopathologic findings.[WT5”HZ] Results[WT5”BZ] The correct rate of localization and qualitative determination in gastric carcinoma by MRI were both 100%. The displaying rate of metastatic lymph notes was 83%(25/30), and the correct diagnostic rate was 73%(35/48) for metastasis or invasion to adjacent abdominal organs.[WT5”HZ] Conclusions[WT5”BZ] Gastric carcinoma shows characteristic MRI pictures, hence MRI examination has the advantage of diagnosing gastric cacinoma, its spreading, even metastasis of lymph nodes.
9.OBSERVATION ON LECTIN RECEPTORS IN GLANDS OF INTESTINAL METAPLASIA OF GASTRIC MUCOSA

4 kinds of lectin receptors (PHA, DBA, PNA, ConA) in the tissues of a variety of lesions of the gastric mucosa are studied with the histochemical method (ABC technique) in 87 cases. The results are follows: the positive rates of 4 kinds of lectin-binding, the distribution of lectin receptors, the intensity of positiveness and the stained patterns are correlated to the histologic types and the grades of various mucosal lesions. The intensity of positive reaction of PHA, PNA and DBA shows a progressive rising, while that of ConA appears a gradual declining tendency with the change from normal gastric mucosa to intestinal metaplasia and cancer. The stained patterns of lectin are: type I is the main pattern for ConA, type I for PNA and type III for PHA and DBA .
10.Method of morphological studies of collagens in keloid

0.05). Conclusion Keloid mainly contains collagens of types Ⅰand Ⅲ, which is different in arrangement and content of collagens from that in scar. Compared with immunohistochemical technique, sirus red staining and polarization microscopy is a ideal method in analysis of the collagen formation and its content in human keloid.
