Objective To contrast the effects of anti-hypoxia and immunoregulation of two kinds of craft prepared Liuwei Dihuang Oral Liquid. Method Mice were divided randomly into 7 groups:control group and two preparation craft Liuwei Dihuang Oral Liquid (6, 3, 1.5 g/kg). The animals were intragastric administration with drugs for 14 d. Purpose:To evaluate the short-term effect of combination chemotherapy of oxaliplatin plus capecitabine on advanced cancer.Methods:32 patients of advanced gastric cancer were treated with oxaliplatin plus capecitabine for 76 weeks.Results:There were 6 CR, 16 PR, 8 NC, 2 PD, in our group and the overall response rate was 68.75% (22/32). The median alleviative time was 8 months, the median survival time was 12 months and the one-year survival rate was 55%. 30(93.75%) patients benefited from this method. The side effects were all tolerable which were alleviated by active therapy. There was no death and nobody stopped chemotherapy because of side effects.Conclusions:Combination chemotherapy of oxaliplatin plus capecitabine to treat advanced gastric cancers was certainly effective and tolerable to toxicities. This chemotherapy will be used as the first-line in more patients and is worthy of further study.[

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of paclitaxel combined with cisplatin in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) by weekly-,biweekly- and three-weekly-regimens.METHODS:180 patients who had been confirmed by pathology and cytology as having NSCLC(Ⅲ～Ⅳstage) were enrolled into the study and divided to three groups:Biweekly - regimen(n= 60):paclitaxel 80 mg?m~(-2) plus cisplatin 40 mg?m~2 ivgtt on day 1 and day 8 in every 21 days;Weekly- regimen(n= 60):paclitaxel 55 mg?m~(-2) plus cisplatin 30 mg?m z ivgtt on day 1,8,and 15 in every 28 days;Three - weekly regimen(n = 60):paclitaxel 160 mg?m~(-2) plus cisplatin 80 mg?m~(-2) ivgtt on day 1 in every 21 days.Serum concentrations of paclitaxel at 3,12,24 h after administration were determined,and the efficacy and toxicity after two- cycle treatment were evaluated.RESULTS:The overall response rates of weekly-,biweekly -and three weekly regimens were 43.1%,35.8%and 34.0%respectively,showing no statistical differences among groups,but the incidence of main toxicities of biweekly-regimen was lower as compared with the other regimens.CONCLUSION:Biweekly -regimen is optimal for the treatment of advanced NSCLC with mild toxicity,which deserves to be applied in clinical practice.

This study is to investigate the effect of baicalin (BL) against oxidative injury stress of SH-SY5Y cells induced by H2O2 and the possible mechanism. SH-SY5Y cells were pre-incubated with baicalin (25, 50, and 100 micromol x L(-1)) for 12 h prior to exposure to H2O2 (150 micromol x L(-1)) for 24 h. The viability of SH-SY5Y cells was measured by MTT assay. The contents of LDH and NO were determined. The percentage of apoptotic cells was assessed by flow cytometry (FCM). The content of Caspase-3 was tested by immunofluorescence histochemical method. BL at 50 and 100 micromol x L(-1) separately increased the cell viability and up-regulated SIRT1, reduced the contents of LDH, NO, Caspase-3 and the apoptotic percentage of SH-SY5Y cells. This study results suggest that baicalin could inhibit the H2O2-induced neuronal apoptosis. The further mechanism studies show that baicalin inhibit apoptosis via reducing Caspase-3 expression and up-regulating SIRT1.

Physiotherapy involves wide range elements. Many factors, such as the complications of the patients, may complicate the treatment. It is important for the physiotherapists to control the potential risk factors as much as to improve their efficacy.

Objective To evaluate the safety and feasibility of simple ligation and resection of the tumor involved inferior vena cava (IVC) without reconstruction during the resection of huge intraabdominal tumors.Methods From 2008 to 2011,4 cases of giant tumor encroaching on inferior vena cava underwent resection without IVC reconstruction.After resection,renal vein was not obstructed in patient 1 and 2.Tumor invaded the third patient's retrohepatic inferior vena cava,anastomosis was performed between the left hepatic vein and the opening of atrium dextrum with artificial vascular graft.The forth patient had right trisegmentectomy of the liver with retrohepatic inferior vena cava resection,anastomosis was performed between the left hepatic vein and the remaining inferior vena cava.Results All 4 patients had a successful operation without intraoperative massive bleeding and death.The postoperative complications included edema in one patient whose collateral circulation was damaged and bile leak in one.Ewin sarcoma patient died of tumor recurrence after a year,but there was no sign of poor renal function and other complications.Ligament fibroma patient had lower limb edema for a long time after the surgery,and tumor relapse for the fourth time in two years following resection.Conclusions When a giant tumor involving and invading IVC,undergoing resection,under the condition that the collateral circulations around IVC established completely,resection and ligation of the inferior vena cava along with huge tumor without IVC reconstruction is safe.This method saves operation time,increases the safety of surgery.

This article was aimed to study the effect of polyphenols fromRubus suavissirnusS. Lee (RSLP) on spontaneous hypertensive rats (SHR) and to explore its mechanism of anti-hypertensive. The water extraction of RSLP was prepared. And the polyphenols was extracted with macroporous resin. The non-invasive blood pressure analysis system was used to detect the blood pressure. SHR model was selected to study the anti-hypertensive effect. The 16 normal Wistar rats were randomly divided into the control group and the normal RSLP high-dose group (RSLP-NH). The 40 SHR were randomly divided into the model group, Captopril group, RSLP-L group, RSLP-M group and RSLP-H group. SBP, DBP, HR, body weight and organ index were observed after the drug administration for 8 weeks and drug withdrawal for 2 weeks. The contents of SOD, MDA, GSH-Px, NO, NOS and ANP in serum were measured. The results showed that the blood pressure of SHR was significantly higher than that of the control group, which can be used for anti-hypertensive studies. Each RSLP group can obviously reduce the SBP and DBP of SHR (P < 0.05), but it had no effect on HR (P > 0.05). RSLP can elevate GSH-Px, SOD levels and reduce the activity of MDA (P < 0.05). RSLP can reduce NO, NOS and ANP contents in serum (P < 0.05). It was concluded that RSLP can significantly reduce the SBP and DBP of SHR, but it had no significant effect on HR. It can increase the activity of GSH-Px, SOD, NO, NOS levels, and reduce the contents of MDA, ANP in serum. It had certain inhibitory effect on the left ventricular hypertrophy.

Objective Our purpose was to evaluate the teaching satisfaction of clinical epi-demiology among medical postgraduate and to come up with measures for further improvement of teaching quality. Methods A self-administered questionnalre was given to all the medical postgradu-ates and doctoral students of Grade 2013 by cluster sampling when they finished the course of clinical epidemiology. A total of 559 graduate students, including 324 graduate students (58%), 235 doctoral students (42%), recruitment graduate students 350 (62.6%), on-the-job graduate student 209 (37.4%).The contents of the questionnalre included many aspects such as the investigation object in general, teaching materials evaluation satisfaction, curriculum and teacher satisfaction evaluation. Respondents ' self-administered manner was adopted. Parallel input was done by using Epidata software; data were analyzed with SPSS 19.0 software, continuous variable was made by x±s, categorical variables was expressed by n(%). Continuous variables were compared among groups by t test and analysis of vari-ance. Classification grouping variable was compared by chi-square test, and P<0.05 for the difference was statistically significant . Results Overall evaluation of theory was below that of the internship teaching materials. The satisfaction rate of practicability, meeting the learning needs and difficulty degree for theory and practice teaching material were 83.7% (468/559), 87.5% (489/559), 67.1% (375/559) and 92.7%(518/559), 89.6%(501/559), 83.0%(464/559) respectively. 41.6%(87/209) of on-the-job students and 36.7% (119/324) of postgraduates considered theory teaching material was difficult for them. The satisfaction rate for faculty teaching attitude (99.5%, 556/559), faculty teaching method (98.6%,551/559), the theories combining with practice teaching method (97.5%, 545/559) were high, but the satisfaction rate for teaching hours was low (67.4%, 377/559), with one third students consider more hours for the course. Conclusion The Teaching effect of clinical epidemiology is falrly good in our school. The postgraduates are satisfied with the teaching materials, curriculum setting, and teach-ing faculty. But there are also some shortcomings. In the future teaching work, we should appropriately increase the hours, and set corresponding teaching contents and methods according to the different learning characteristics of the on-the-job graduate students and recruitment graduate students, to improve the teaching effect and teaching quality.

Objective:To evaluate the association between brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity ( ba-PWV) and metabolic syndrome ( MetS) among the Chinese elderly and the gender difference .Methods:We conducted a population-based cross-sectional study in a representative urban area of Beijing , China. A sample of 2 102 community elderly (848 males, and 1 254 females) aged 60 to 95 years were included in the study .MetS was defined according to the 2009 harmonizing definition .Results:The prevalence of MetS was 59.1% (50.1% in males and 65.2% in females, P<0.001).The baPWV value was be-tween 8.2 to 45.6 (20.0 ±4.4) m/s, and showed an increasing trend with age (P<0.001).The par-tial correlation showed baPWV was positively associated with BMI (r =0.076, P =0.037), systolic blood pressure (r=0.380, P<0.001), diastolic blood pressure (r=0.276, P<0.001), triglyceride (r=0.040, P=0.046), fasting blood glucose (r=0.140, P<0.001), 2-hour post-meal blood glu-cose (r=0.121, P<0.001), and negatively associated with HDL-C (r=-0.128, P=0.048).There was a strong association between baPWV and prevalence of MetS and its component number in females but not in males .Compared with the lowest quartile of baPWV , the adjusted ORs were 1 .22 ( 95%CI 0.83-1.79), 1.32(95%CI 0.90-1.93), 1.46(95%CI 1.00-2.14) in males and 1.28(95%CI 0.93-1.77), 1.55(95%CI 1.12 -2.16), 1.86(95%CI 1.32-2.61) in females for the second, third and top quartiles .Conclusion:The prevalence of MetS increases substantially with increasing levels of baPWV among the Chinese elderly , especially in females .

Objective To investigate the change of genomic DNA of liver and spleen tissue for different age of the elderly,and provide the experimental data for aging-related research. Methods 35 livers and 33 spleens of autopsied samples preserved in refrigerator at-80 ℃ were divided into 3 groups according to age:age 65y to 79y,age 80y to 89y,age≥90y. The content of DNA in liver and spleen was determined by ultraviolet absorbent method. Results Compaired with age 80y to 89y (0. 310 ± 0. 286)mg/mL,the content of DNA in liver was significant higher at age 65y to 79y (1.464 ±0.488)mg/mL and age ≥90y(1.147 ±0.333)mg/mL(P<0.05);Compared with age 80y to 89y(0. 938 ± 0. 589)mg/mL,the content of DNA in spleen was significant higher at age 65y to 79y(1. 723 ± 0. 726)mg/mL and age≥90y(1. 688 ± 0. 963)mg/mL(P<0. 05). The content of DNA was significant lower in liver (0. 856 ± 0. 658)mg/mL than that in spleen (1. 414 ± 0. 852)mg/mL. Conclusion The content of DNA in human liver and spleen tissue may be decrease along with aging. The content of DNA in the group at age≥90y may be increase. There were some differences between different viscera tissue in content of DNA.
