Objective:To investigate the effects of siRNA-mediated Plk1 depletion on COS-7 cells and the therapeutic potential of Plk1 in cancer treatment.Methods:Small interfering RNA(siRNA) were used to specifically deplete Plk1 in COS-7 cells.RT-PCR and immol/Lunoblotting analysis were used to verify the inhibitory effect of siRNA against Plk1.Trypan blue exclusion assay and FACS analysis were conducted to determine the effects of Plk1 depletion on the growth and cell cycle profile of COS-7 cells.Results:Synthetic siRNA duplexes against Plk1 were introduced into COS-7 cells,which subsequently resulted in a significant inhibition in Plk1 expression in the cells.Cell growth assay indicated that siRNA-mediated Plk1 depletion significantly inhibited the proliferation of COS-7 cells.FACS analysis revealed that Plk1 depletion caused cell cycle arrest,resulting into large population of sub-G1 cells.Conclusion:siRNA-mediated Plk1 depletion significantly inhibited the proliferation of COS-7 cells suggesting the therapeutic potential of Plk1 in cancer treatment.

Guided by systematic material evaluation theory,the present study assessed textbooks of medical English listening and speaking published over the last 20 years,and conducted a relevant survey to investigate different opinions of the textbooks among teachers and students.It found that cognitive schema theory,information processing theory,the register theory and communicative principle were adopted as guidelines in the compilation.Multi-tasks were utilized to train language skills;medical terminology learning was put great emphasis on;original audio-visual materials were employed.Besides,the majority of the textbooks were compiled based on topics or situations.However,most textbooks of medical English listening and speaking miss the section for cultivating students' autonomous learning,independent thinking as well as phonetic exercise,and they lack the teacher's book and students' book,which should be improved soon.

Objective:To make a synthetic comment on treatment of children cerebral palsy with acupuncture in recent 10 years in China.Methods:Related papers were gotten from the journals between 1999-2008 in Chinese journal full-test database and VIP information-Chinese technology journal database by computer retrieval.The collected 143 papers were analyzed from the terms of clinical acupoints selection,treatment methods,time,and mechanism,and then summarized the clinical effects of acupuncture in treating children cerebral palsy.Results:The acupoints selection was focus on scalp acupuncture functional area and body points(including scalp points).Beside acupuncture treatment,the combination of acupoint embedding therapy,acupoint injection,and massage were also used.The therapy time was different from 20min to 4h,and the treatment course was usually be counted by month.The effects of acupuncture treatment were considered to be significant through improving brain circulation and recovering brain cells' function. Conclusion:Acupuncture treatment had advantages in improving the child'limbs function,nevertheless further studies on the research methods,study design and mechanism were all needed.

LPS receptor may be a complex of multiple components. Different individual response to LPS is related to gene background. The gene polymorphism of LPS receptors and LPS-induced cytokines have been shown to contribute to LPS sensitivity, susceptibility and prognosis of sepsis.

Underwater blast injury is a common war injury during combat around islands or fighting for beach-head. The wounding effects of underwater blast wave and the characteristics of underblast injury are quite different from that produced in air due to special physical features of water and the underwater pressure. We have investigated the injurious effects of underwater blast wave and its dose-effect relationship. In addition, some protective measures have been tested to prevent or alleviate underwater blast injury. All of these primary results have provided both experimental and theoretical foundation evidence for further researches in respect to the diagnosis, emergency care and protection against underwater blast injury.

Objective To study the relationship between CA125 and endometriosis.Methods We tested the level of CA125 in serum and fluid of ovarian cysts of patients with endometriosis and non-endometriosis,respectively.Results The mean CA125 concentration in the fluid of endometrial cysts of the ovary(ECO) was remarkably higher than that of the serum in ECO group(P0.05).Conclusion The level of CA125 has bearing on the occurrence,development and prognosis of endometriosis,CA125 level is positively correlated with the severity of the disease.Therefore,it is valuable to test serum CA125 level for diagnosing endometriosis.
