Objective To explore the relationship between the pathologic features of the cancer and postoperative recurrence in patients with early stage gastric carcinoma. Methods 139 patients with early stage gastric carcinoma underwent radical resection in our hospital from 1984 to 1995. All cases were followed up for more than 5 years. ? 2 test was used for statistical analysis. Results 7 cases died of hematogenic metastasis, 3 cases died of lymph node metastasis, and stump carcinoma was found in the other 3 cases. The recurrent rate was significantly higher in submucosal tumors (14.1%) than in mucosal tumors (1.9%), in lymphatic and vascular vessel invasion-positive cases (37.5%) than in negative cases (7.6%), in lymph node positive (31.3%) than in negative (6.5%), in synchronous multiple gastric cancer (33.3%) than in solitary tumors (7.9%)(P

Objective To investigate the causes, prevention and treatment of recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) injury during operation in patients with thyroid cancer. Methods Clinical data of 192 patients undergone thyroidectomy operation were reviewed. Results RLN was exposed during operation in 192 patients. There were 3 cases of RLN injury, then RLN anastomosis was happened immediately during operation. It was significantiy improved in pronunciation after operation. 2 ~ 3 d after surgery, transitory hoarseness was observed in 3 patients. Unilateral RLN resection performed in 1 case with cancer involving RLN. Conclusions There were some causes of RLN injury. Exposure of RLN selectively, delicate operation and thyroid gland surgery specialist were the key point for prevention of the injury of RLN. Once RLN injury occured ,repairing should be performed as soon as possible.

Objective To explore the related prognostic factors of the patients with thyroid microcarcinoma. Methods Clinical data, including clinical, pathologic, and therapeutic factor of 203 patients with thyroid microcarcinoma admitted were analyzed retrospectively. Results The cause specific survival and locoregional failure free survival rates at 10 years were 100.0% and 91.4% , respectively.Univariate analysis showed that multifocality, cervical lymph node metastasis and radioiodine treatment was associated with prognosis.Multivariate analysis revealed that cervical lymph node metastasis was the only independent prognostic factor for locoregional failure free survival. The risk of locoregional recurrence increased 2.5 folds when lymph nodes metastasis occurred at presentation. Conclusion The ratio of thyroid microcarcinoma to thyroid carcinoma increased yearly and the overall survival rate of thyroid microcarcinoma was excellent.Of all the prognostic factors, lymph node metastasis was the most important one related to survival.

Aim To observe the adhesive process of the human gastric cancer cell line MKN1,and study the expression of integrin ?1;to investigate the mechanism of the inhibition of the adhesion process of MKN1 cells by destran sulfate(DS).Methods The MKN1 cells were cultured with DS or PBS,then stained with immunofluorescent cytochemistry and observed in fixed or living conditions with confocal laser scanning microscope.RT-PCR was used to analyze the cDNA expression of MKN1 cells. Results MKN1 cells adhered to culture dishes by the process of forming filopodia, changed into a flat shape, and then adhered to other cells to form a cell-monolayer.Integrin ?1 was intensively expressed in the cell membrane, where integrin ?1 formed clusters.DS inhibted the expression of integrin ?1 in cell membrane, and decreased the area of integrin ?1 clusters.DS-treated cells also tended to maintain a round shape by contracting the filopodia. In DS-containing culture dishes, some cells kept floating 4 hours after seeding.DS decreased the level of the cDNA expression of the adhered cells to 74% and of the floating cells to 38% of that of the cells in un-treated group, respectively. Conclusion The inhibition of the adhesion of MKN1 cells by DS was related to the suppression of the expression of integrin ?1.

Objective To explore the feasibility and safety of BBIAA, the clinic effect of endoscopic thyroidectomy by BBAET and BBIAA was compared. Methods From August 2012 to August 2014,50 patients with thyroid diseases un-derwent endoscopic thyroidectomy by BBAET and BBIAA. Two groups of clinical datas such as operative time, blood loss, drainage amounts, complications, hospital stay, area of skin flap, postoperative visualanalog pain score (VAPS) were compared and analyzed. Results There were no significantly differences in operative time, blood loss, drainage amounts, complications, hospital stay, area of skin flap, postoperative visualanalog pain score between group BBIAA and group BBAET. Conclusion Compared with BBAET, BBIAA is a safe and effective method that gives good surgical completeness, minimal invasion. Therefore,BBIAA is a good method to take the place of BBAET.

OBJECTIVE:
To determine the correlation of phosphorylated ribosomal S6 protein (P-S6) content in blood and brain tissue in mice and rats with seizure.
METHODS:
Seizure models were induced by intraperitoric injection of kainic acid (KA) in C57BL/mice and SD rats. Flow cytometry was used to detect the content of P-S6 in blood; Western blot was used to detect the expression of P-S6 in brain tissues. The correlation between P-S6 expression in blood and in brain tissue was examine by Pearson analysis, and the correlation between P-S6 expression in blood and the severity of seizure was also observed.
RESULTS:
Western blotting analysis showed that the expression of P-S6 was significantly increased in peripheral blood and brain tissue in mice 1 h after KA-induced seizure, and the expression levels increased to (1.49±0.45) times (<0.05) and (2.55±0.66) times ( <0.01) of the control group, respectively. Flow cytometry showed that the positive percentage and average fluorescence intensity of P-S6 in the blood of mice increased significantly 1 h after KA-induced seizures (<0.01), which was consistent with the expression of P-S6 in brain tissue (=0.8474, <0.01). Flow cytometry showed that the average fluorescence intensity of P-S6 in blood increased from 14.89±9.75 to 52.35±21.72 (<0.01) in rats with seizure, which was consistent with the change of P-S6 in brain tissue (=0.9385, <0.01). Rats with higher levels of seizure were of higher levels of P-S6 in peripheral blood.
CONCLUSIONS
Consistent correlation of P-S6 expression is demonstrated in peripheral blood and in brain tissue after KA-induced seizure, suggesting that the expression of P-S6 in blood can accurately reflect the changes of mTOR signaling pathway in brain tissue.
