Objective To evaluate the detection and localization of obscure lower gastrointestinal bleeding by using SPECT/CT and intraoperative endoscopy. Methods Twenty-six cases of patients with obscure lower gastrointestinal bleeding were analyzed retrospectively. Results The positive detection rate of SPECT/CT was 88.5%. All 26 patients (100%) were identified the bleeding source by using intraoperative endoscopy. No recurrence was found during 1-24 months follow-up. Conclusion SPECT/CT examination should be chosen firstly for patients with obscure lower gastrointestinal bleeding in order to localize the bleeding site roughly. Intraoperative endoscopy can localize the bleeding site accurately in patients who undergoes operation.

Objective To investigate the application of dual volume reconstruction translucent imaging in performing stent- assisted coil embolization for intracranial aneurysm embolization treatment. Methods During the period from Nov. 2011 to Sep. 2012, a total of 30 patients with intracranial aneurysm were admitted to authors’ hospital. Stent-assisted coil embolization was carried out in all patients. The number of all the stent point-marks visualized on routine 2D-DSA, on rotational angiography (3D-RA) and on dual volume reconstruction translucent images were determined, and the results were compared between each other of the three imaging methods. Results A total of 34 stents (206 stent point-marks in total) were implanted in the 30 patients. Of the 206 stent point-marks, 2D-DSA, 3D-RA and dual volume reconstruction translucent image could clearly display 146 (70.8%), 123 (59.7%) and 190 (92.2%), respectively. Statistically significant difference in the displaying rate of the stent point-marks existed between each other among the three imaging methods (P < 0.05). Conclusion Dual volume reconstruction translucent imaging can distinctly display the location of the stent marks, which is of great value in guiding the performance of intracranial stent implantation surgery.

Objective To investigate the MR imaging findings of colonic carcinoma and the diagnostic value of MRI. Methods Multi-planar and multi-sequence MRI scanning, before and after contrast enhancement, were performed in 40 patients with colonic cancer. The patients were fasted for 12 hours, prepared with clean clysis or senna at night before study, given 10 mg of anisodamine 10 minutes before study, and then infused with 800~1 000 ml physiological saline immediately before study by anus. Dukes staging and resectability evaluation were made in 32 patients before surgery and meanwhile the results were compared with pathology. Results Colonic anatomy and surrounding organs were clearly demonstrated on MRI in 40 patients with colonic cancer, particularly in recta and sigmoid flexure. The tumours showed iso-intensity on T 1WI, iso-intensity or slight high-intensity signal on T 2WI, and high-intensity signal on SPIR. Remarkable enhancement was seen in 35/40 (87.5%). Invasion of surrounding organs occurred in 8/40(20.0%)and MRI revealed 6; Meanwhile, MRI revealed lymph node metastasis in 8 out of 12 cases. 32 patients were regarded as resectable before surgery, and 8 patients as unresectable. Four patients were overestimated, the accuracy of preoperative evaluation for the resectability was 87.5%, and the detecting rate of colonic cancer was 100.0%. Conclusion MRI can clearly show the colonic wall thickness, anatomic structure and surrounding anatomy. For the diagnosis of colonic cancer, MRI can not only demonstrate all its morphologic features, such as mass, thickened wall, and invasion of adjacent organs, but also swollen lymph node and metastasis in abdominal cavity. MRI is very helpful in the diagnosis, staging, and respectability evaluation of colonic cancer.

We have recombined genes VvSUC11, VvSUC12 from Vitis vinifera L., and root-specific promoters of sweet potato storage protein gene from Ipomoea batatas L. Lam., named as SP1 and SP2. We have constructed a vector pCAMBIA2301-SP1- VvSUC11-SP2-VvSUC12 using pCAMBIA2301 as an original vector. VvSUC11 and VvSUC12 were under the control of root-specific promoters of sweet potato storage protein gene. We transformed the vector into KWS-9103 breeding line of Beta vulgaris L. with Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. We have established the optimal genetic transformation protocol of sugar beet as following: the explants pre-cultured for 4 days were immersed in Agrobacterium suspension of OD(600)=0.5, supplemented with 0.005% Silwet L-77, and followed by a 4-day culture on medium containing cefotaxime, then the buds were selected on medium containing kanamycin and cefotaxime. The percentage of kanamycin-resistant buds was as high as 42%. Results of PCR and RT-PCR proved that the target genes had integrated into sugar beet genome and expressed. It will lay a foundation for further studying their function in Beta vulgaris.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2005;22(5):890-895
Based on the analysis of the workspace and positioning procedure for using the HIFU Surgery Platform, a simplified representation of the tumor volume's location and orientation in the workspace by Positioning Volume Ellipsoid is proposed. The terminal and intermediate configuration which the ultrasound focus must pass through during positioning is determined; according to the decided configurations, a C2 continuous uniform interpolating B spline positioning path is constructed in Lie Group SE (3); and a case analysis is made at last.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2005;22(4):824-828
Robots are being more and more used in surgery. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound is newly used in tumor treatment and it is non invasive. In this paper, we introduced a Robot integrated HIFU surgery system and its general flow. Also introduced is an 8 DOF surgical platform, its design, its mechanism and its kinematic analysis. In the end, we give out two spatial working areas individually. Each is the combination of 5 dimensional motions. Compared with other platforms available, this surgery platform is more flexible and accurate and its treatment area is larger. All these advantages make the treatment design easier.
