With the development of the human society, people have come to pay more and more attention not only to their life quality but also to the quality of their life before death. Hence the emergence of hospice. At present there are three types of hospice in China: the family type, the general hospital type, and the special institution type. Each of these types has its own shortcomings. Hence the need for social work to intervene in hospice. The paper discusses the viability and necessity of the intervention through the notion, channels and methods of intervention. The role of social workers in hospice is also discussed.

Aiming at some problems existing in the cultivation of advanced studying doctors,we think that strict selection should be made to guide advanced studying doctors to have correct understanding of their specialty and systemic training to improve the training quality.

Numbering quantities of medical equipment is studied based on Queueing Theory, which can provide a useful and applicable tool for study on medical equipment numbering.

Objective To explore the risk factors contributing to wound complications following operative fixation for fractured calcanea.Methods Fitly-six patients with 61 fractured calcanea who had been treated with operative fixation from March 2000 to March 2003 were enrolled in investigation.General information of the pa- tients,ages,injury causes,classification of fracture,fall heights,smoking,delayed operation time,operation time and tourniquet time were documented preoperatively and postoperatively to be analyzed statistically.Results We report an overall wound complication rate of 14.8%(9/61).Wound infection,haematoma,dehiscence,heel necrosis and osteomyelitis were noted in our series.We identified the following as risk factors of postoperative wound compli- cations:1)fall from more than 3.4 m high(P＜0.05);2)delayed operation time less than seven days(P＜0.05); 3)operating time beyond two hours(P＜0.05);4)tourniquet time beyond 1.5 hours(P＜0.05).Conclusion In order to decrease wound complications following operative fixation tor fractured calcanea,surgeons should pertorm the operation 7 to 10 days after the injury,and reduce the operation time and tourniquet time.

Objective: To develop HPLC method for determination of alliin concentration in mice plasma. Methods: The plasma samples were extracted with methanol. The analysis involved a ODS 1 column as stationary phase and distilled water as mobile phase. The flow rate was 0.5mL?min -1 , UV detection wavelength was at 220nm. 5 Fu was used as the internal standard. Results: The calibration curve was linear over a range from 14.8?g?mL -1 to 148.1?g?mL -1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9992. Conclusion: The method is economic, simple, sensitive and accurate.

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of itraconazole oral solutions on pulmonary candidiasis albicans in ICU patients.Methods A total of 71 patients with candida ablicans in their sputum clutures were randomized into two groups.The itraconazole group(n= 36)received itraconazole 200 mg,p.o.(including nasal feeding),q12h for 14 days.The fluconazole group(n=35)received fluconazole 400 mg for the first dose,then 200 mg,i.v.drip,qd for 14 days.Results There were 31 patients in the itraconazole group and 29 paitents in the fluconazole group who completed their treatment.In the itraconazole and fluconazole group,the clearance of candida ablicans was 64.52%(20/31)vs.65.55%(19/29),cleaning time(10.12?2.57)vs(8.87?1.95)days,effective rate 58.06%(18/31)vs 62.07%(18/29),recovery rate is 19.35%(6/31)vs 17.24%(5/29),occurrence of hepatic dysfunction is 25.81%(8/31)vs 24.14%(7/29),and withdrawal for inefficacy was 3.23%(1/31)vs 6.90%(2/29),respectively.These parameters did not have statistical significance.Conclusion Itraconazole oral solutions can be used effectively and safely in the treatment of pulmonary candidiasis albicans in ICU.Patients with renal dysfunction do not need to adjust the dosage.
