Journal of Chongqing Medical University 2003;0(06):-
Objective; To detect the expressions of VEGF and matrix metalloproteinase -2(MMP-2) in invasive pituitary adenomas and noninvasive pituitary adenomas, and to evaluate the relationship between the expression of VEGF and pituitary adenomas, methods; The expressions of VEGF..MMP-2 and MMP -2 were examined by immunohistochemical method, and the expressions of VEGF and MMP -2 mRNA were also examined by RT - PCR assay. The correlation between VEGF and MMP -2 ,and the correlation between expression of VEGF,MMP -2 and invasiveness of pituitary adenomas were studied. Results; The intense expression and total expression rate of VEGF of pituitary adenomas patients with invasion (56. 3% , 100% respectively) were significantly higher than those without (17.4% ,56.5%respectively,P

Objective To study the expression of toll rexeptor-4 in patients with systemic infanunatory response syndrome(SIRS)and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) induced by acute cerebral vascular disease(ACVD).Method Totally 153 ACVD patients, admitted to Departments of Neurology Medicine and ICU of the First, the Second and the Forth Hospitals of Jilin University from October 2005 to March 2006,were enrolled in this study. The patients were admitted to the hospitals within 3 days after onset, and were confirmed by CT or MRI.The 153 patients in the prospective study was divided into three groupa:ACVD group(n=60).SIRS group induced by ACVD(n=45),MODS group induced by ACVD(n=48).The diagnosis criteria accorded with the criterion set by the Forth Conference of Cerebrovuscular Disease in China. The exclusion criterion inchided:①patients with infeetion or inflammatory disease two weeks before the onset of AVCD;②patients with cardiac disease, including acute myocarditis, acute myocardial infarction, angina episodes, degenerative calcific valvular disease, and so on;③patients with use of hormone recently;④malignant tumor, autoimmunity system disease, liver disease, kidney disease and hematologic disease. The expression of TLR-4 mRNA gene of the nucleated cell in the peripheral blood in the ACVD patient was measured by using RT-PCR.Statistics methods of t test,q test and simplex factor analysis of variance have been used Statistical analysis was carried out by using T-test,one-way analysis of variances, and q-test.Results The expression of TLR-4mRNA obviously increased on the third day after onset of AVCD.Compared with ACVD group, the expression of TLR-4mRNA in SIRS group was significantly higher (0.61±0.13 vs.0.98±0.15,P<0.01).Compared with SIRS group, the expression of TLR-4mRNA in MODS group was significantly higher(0.98±0.15 vs.1.32±0.38,P<0.01).The expression of TLR-4mRNA had a increasing tendency with the severity of AVCD.The expression of TLR-4mRNA was higher in patients with higher MODS score(P<0.01).In the MODS group, the expression of TLR-4 mRNA was higher in the fatal patients than that in the survivors(1.56±0.16 vs.1.32±0.26,P<0.01).Conclusions The mechanism of ACVD.which causes SIRS and MODS,may be associated with excessive immunologic respun of the organism.

OBJECTIVETo evaluation the performance of a heart-type fatty acid-binding protein (H-FABP) ELISA detection kit in the clinical diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
METHODSPlasma or serum samples from 160 suspected ACS patients hospitalized in General Hospital of PLA were examined using Lanzhou H-FABP reagent kit and Holland H-FABP kit. Correlation of the two kits was evaluated and Kappa test was used to examine the consistency of the results of the two products.
RESULTSThe sensitivity of H-FABP diagnosis of ACS detection Lanzhou kit was 91.8%, the specificity was 88.7%, and the total diagnostic rate was 90.42%. The sensitivity of H-FABP diagnosis of ACS detection Holland kit was 90.3%, the specificity was 86.8%, and the total diagnostic rate was 88.75%. The test results showed that two products yielded comparable results (P=0.668, >0.05) with a good consistency (Kappa=0.726, P<0.01).
CONCLUSIONSH-FABP ELISA detection kit produccted by LanZhou biological research institute has a good correlation with H-FABP detection kit produced by HBT company of Holland and has the potential for clinical application.

In this study, products of psoralen pyrolysis were detected using a solid pyrolysis apparatus and synchrotron radiation vacuum ultraviolet photoionization mass spectrum (SVUV-PIMS). The pyrolytic kinetics of psoralen was also studied by calculating its initial pyrolytic route in quantum chemistry. According to the findings with SVUV-PIMS, three pyrolytic products were observed, CO, C9H6O and C10H6O2. Theoretically, three fragment pathways were calculated for psoralen, in which the major primary decomposition route was de-CO, and the major secondary decomposition reaction was de-CO reaction of de-CO products.

BACKGROUND:
Changes in thyroid hormone levels are commonly recognized characters among the elderly, which were reported to potentially influence incident frailty. Therefore, we examined the cross-sectional associations of thyroid hormones (THs) with frailty as well as the five components characterizing frailty (fatigue, resistance, ambulation, number of illnesses, and loss of weight) among the oldest-old.
METHODS:
Four hundred and eighty-seven community-dwelling oldest-old from a local community in Haidian District, Beijing, participated in our recruitment campaign between April 2019 and May 2020. The primary outcomes were a definitive diagnosis of frailty according to the FRAIL scale (Fatigue, Resistance, Ambulation, Illnesses, Loss of weight) and a positive score for each frailty subdomain. Demographic information (age, sex, marital status, and educational status), comorbidities, and details on the participants' lifestyles were recorded. Serum THs including free triiodothyronin (fT3), triiodothyronine (T3), free thyroxine (fT4), and thyroxine (T4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels were also measured at the beginning of our study. Logistic regressions were conducted to screen for potential risk factors for frailty and its subdomains.
RESULTS:
Among the total 487 subjects at enrollment, 60 (12.23%) of them were diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism and 110 (22.59%) of the total population scored positive for frailty. Logistic regression analyses adjusted for all potential confounders, showed that frailty was significantly associated with the serum TSH concentration (odds ratio [OR]: 1.06), fT3 concentration (OR: 0.54), and subclinical hypothyroidism score (OR: 2.18). The association between fT4 and frailty was absent in our observational study. The fT3/fT4 ratio characterizing peripheral hormone conversion was also tested to be correlated with frailty.
CONCLUSION
Subclinical hypothyroidism, higher TSH level, lower fT3 level, and decreased fT3/fT4 ratio were all associated with frailty assessed by the FRAIL scale among the community-dwelling oldest-old, suggesting a relevant role of thyroid function in aging. Future longitudinal studies are warranted to determine the casual relationship between thyroid dysfunction and frailty in the oldest-old.
