Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2017;21(2):296-302
BACKGROUND:Silicon plays an essential role in bone development and bioactive silicate glasses pioneered the current era of bioactive materials. Various biomaterials have been developed based on the biological function of silicon. OBJECTIVE:To explore the biological function of silicon and research process of silicon in biomaterials. METHODS: A computer-based retrieval of CNKI, PubMed, SpringerLink and Elsevier ScienceDirect databases was performed to search the relevant literatures concerning the biological function of silicon and its application in biomaterials. Al data were primarily screened to exclude repeated and irrelevant articles. Literatures about the application of silicon in biomaterials were included. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:A total of 68 eligible English articles are enroled. Silicon plays important chemical and biological roles in bone. Silicon in the extracelular matrix interacts with glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans during their synthesis and form ionic substitutions in the crystal lattice structure of hydroxyapatite. In addition, the dissolution products of bioactive glass (mainly silicic acid) expose significant influence on the molecular biology of osteoblasts in vitro, and can regulate the expressions of several genes including osteoblastic markers, cel cycle regulators and extracelular matrix proteins. Silicon has been proved to improve the bioactivity of numerous materials and do no harm to their mechanical properties and without cytotoxicity.

Objective: To evaluate the pharmacodynamic of clematis. Methods: 1) The relaxation of isolated ileum muscle of guinea pig by clematic was tested. The antagonism of clematis on histamine or Ach induced ileum muscle contraction was tested also. 2) By using the model of turning of trunk, the pain releasing effect of clematis was evaluated. 3) The experiments about anti-inflammation action of clematis were carried out in two models. Results: Clematis relaxed the ileum muscle. It also antagonized the contraction of the muscle caused by histamine and Ach. A single intrapeditional administration of clematis to Kun-Ming mice significantly prolonged the latency and reduced the writhe number at the turning of trunk model; clematis dose-dependently inhibited the mouse ear swelling caused by xylol. It also had anti-inflammation effect at the other model. The results demonstrated that clematis could release the pain, suppress the inflammation and smooth muscle contraction.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2024;22(4):341-352
Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of central post-stroke pain(CPSP). Methods:Randomized controlled trials of acupuncture treatment for CPSP in PubMed,Excerpta Medica Database(EMBASE),Cochrane Library,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform(Wanfang),Chongqing VIP Database(VIP),and China Biology Medicine Disc(CBM)were retrieved by computer. The retrieval time was from each database's inception to July 2023.Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software;GRADEprofiler 3.6.1 software was used to evaluate the quality of evidence.Dichotomous variables were analyzed by the risk ratio(RR).Continuous data were analyzed by mean difference(MD)with a confidence interval(CI)of 95%. Results:A total of 14 studies were included, comprising a total of 1 045 patients. The findings of the meta-analysis showed that compared with Western medication in treating CPSP,the acupuncture treatment had a higher clinical effective rate[RR=1.09,95%CI(1.01,1.19),Z=2.08,P<0.05],a lower visual analog scale(VAS)score[MD=-0.75,95%CI(-1.18,-0.32),Z=3.41,P<0.001],a lower pain rating index(PRI)score[MD=-1.72,95%CI(-2.76,-0.68),Z=3.24,P<0.05],a higher plasma β-endorphin(β-EP)level[MD=5.81,95%CI(3.00,8.62),Z=4.05,P<0.001],and a lower adverse reaction rate[RR=0.05,95%CI(0.01,0.18),Z=4.35,P<0.001].There was no statistical difference in the present pain intensity(PPI)score between the two treatments[MD=-0.26,95%CI(-0.54,0.02),Z=1.79,P>0.05].Compared with Western medication in treating CPSP,acupuncture plus Western medication had a higher clinical effective rate[RR=1.18,95%CI(1.05,1.34),Z=2.75,P<0.05],a lower VAS score[MD=-1.04,95%CI(-1.26,-0.82),Z=9.25,P<0.001],and a lower Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)score[MD=-2.67,95%CI(-4.80,-0.54),Z=2.46,P<0.05].The results of the evidence quality grade evaluation showed that there was no moderate-or high-quality evidence for acupuncture or acupuncture plus Western medication compared with Western medication in the treatment of CPSP. Conclusion:Acupuncture has certain therapeutic advantages over Western medication in the treatment of CPSP.It can effectively relieve pain and improve sleep, with fewer adverse reactions and better safety.However,high-quality randomized controlled trials are still needed for further study and verification.

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of quantitative analysis parameters of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in differential diagnosis of prostatic disease. Methods 12 patients with prostate cancer and 16 patients with benign disease underwent DCE-MRI examination.Region of interest (ROI) were drawn in areas of cancerous foci, normal prostate peripheral zone and normal prostate central gland to measure the values of Ktrans (transport constant),Kep (rate constant),Ve (extravascular extracellular volume fraction).Values of the three parameters were analyzed by ANOVA and the differences were compared between the different tissues. Results The values of Ktrans,Kep and Ve were (0.42±0.10)/min,(0.64±0.11)/min,(0.61±0.14) respectively in the area of cancerous foci, while (0.17 ±0.08)/min,(0.32 ±0.10)/min,(0.59±0.11) respectively in normal prostate peripheral zone, and (0.33±0.12)/min,(0.50± 0.16)/min,(0.62 ±0.07) respectively in normal prostate central gland. The differences in Ktrans,Kep values were statistically significant between cancerous foci, normal prostate peripheral zone and normal prostate central gland (F =31.646,27.196,respectively,all P < 0.05),but no statistically significant difference was found in the Ve value between the three different tissues (F=0.533,P> 0.05).Conclusions Quantitative analysis of DCE-MBI can be used to differentiate benign from malignant prostatic diseases, which hasa great application prospect.
