Keratoacanthoma is a rapidly growing tumor that has the tendency of spontaneous involution but it may persist for some times, continue to enlarge and may become invasive and destructive. Many modalities are available for the treatment of keratoacanthoma. Although excisional surgery is the treatment of choice, this can result in functional and cosmetic defects when large or strategically located lesions are treated. An effective nonsurgical treatment would be desirable in such cases. We report two cases with unusually large or facial keratoacanthoma treated with intralesional methotrexate. One case showed complete resolution over 6 injections and the other after 2 injections. We suggest that intralesional injection of methotrexate is a simple, effective, safe and inexpensive method for the treatment of large keratoacanthoma.

Digital mucous cysts are observed frequently on the lateral or dorsal aspect of the digital fingers. Digital mucous cysts are prone to recur after simple excision, electrocoagulation, intralesional injection of corticosteroid and a variety of other therapeutic maneuvers. In this report, we describe one patient with digital mucous cyst who was successfully treated with intralesional injection of 1 mg/ml of minocycline hydrochloride without any sequelae.

Keratoacanthoma is a not uncommon skin tumor characterized by rapid growth of a smooth dome-shaped nodule with a central plug of keratin, usually followed by spontaneous involution. Because the tumor leaves a nunsightly scar, this is one of the reasons why these lesions should be treated. Excision is desirable if the diagnosis is in doubt. But surgical removal may be difficult, alternative treatment approaches should be considered. We report two cases of keratocathoma successfully treated by intralesional injection of 5-fluorouracil.

These are the first reported cases of granuloma faciale in two Koreans. Unilateral, slightly elevated violaceous plaque with illdefined margin on cheeck since 20 years ago was observed in 36 year old house-wife, and 40 year old male has had bilateral plaques on both cheek areas since 10 years ago, These plaques were showed the typical histological appearance of granuloma faciale respectively on both of two patients. Literature was briefly reviewed for the discussion of clinical and microseopic findings of this disease. Both patients were treated by intralesional injections and ointment of steroid with relative clinical improvements.

A typical case of lichen amyloidosis is reported. This case is considered to be the first one in Korea. Intralesional injection of prednisolone proved to be effective in this case. The etiologic and therapeutic aspects of this disease are discussed.

Treatments for alopecia areata include topical corticosteroid treatment, corticosteroid intralesional injection, systemic corticosteroid treatment, PUVA(psoralen-UVA) and topical immunotherapy. The therapeutic effects are variable. Alopecia totalis is hard to treat completely. Topical immunotherapy with dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB), squaric acid dibutyl ester (SADBE) or diphenylcyclopropenone (diphencyprone, DPCP) represents the most accepted therapeutic modality for the treatment of extensive alopecia areata. We report two cases of alopecia totalis treated with DPCP. After DPCP treatment, total scalp hair was completely recovered.

Basal cell carcinomas(BCCs) are usually treated with ablative proccdures, but a nonsurgical treatment would conserve tissue and obtain a better cosmetic out come as well as treat patients who refuse surgery or those who are not good surgical candidates. Because of inadequate drug penetration, low cure rates, high recurence rates, and adverse reactions, such as contact dermatitis, topical 5-fluorouracil(5-FU) is unsaitble to treat nodular BCCs. But, int,ralesional 5-FU has been reported to be effective for nodular BCCs. The efficacy and safety of intralesional injection of 5-FU have been evaluated for treatment of BCCs. The results revealed that intralesional injection of 5-FU seems to be effective in the treatment of various premalignant and malignant skin lesions as well as BCCs without side effects.
