Objective To explore the characteristics and risk factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) onset in pedigrees. Methods A total of 865 subjects were screened and diagnosed by oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) based on American Diabetes Association (ADA) criteria. Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) , maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY) and chondriosome diabetes were excluded by clinical features and laboratory test of insulin and autoantibodies including glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody, insular cellular antibody and insulin autoantibody. A total of 182 pedigrees of T2DM were obtained. Results No gender difference was found in the prevalence of T2DM (42. 59% in male and 48. 18% in female respectively, P >0. 05) , nor was the newly diagnosed rate(9. 89% in male and 11. 82%in female, P > 0. 05). The onset age was (63. 3 ± 12. 4) years old in the first generation [(64. 4 ± 12. 5)years in male and (62. 3 ± 10. 3) years in female] , (47. 1 ± 8. 7) years old in the second generation [(48. 2 ±9. 3)years in male and (46. 1 ± 8. 1) years in female] , (29. 6 ± 10. 2) years old in the third generation [(28. 9 ±9. 5)years in male and (30. 0 ± 10. 4)years in female]. Compared with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) subjects , newly diagnosed T2DM and impaired glucose regulation (IGR) subjects had higher prevalence of hypertension, hyperlipidemia and smoking but less physical activities. Statistical differences were shown in body weight five years before diagnosis, one years before diagnosis and at diagnosis in newly diagnosed T2DM[(68. 4 ±12. 4)kg, (69. 5 ± 11. 0)kg and (69. 1 ±9. 6)kg] and IGR[(66. 1 ±10.7)kg, (65.9 ± 10.7) kg and(65.7 ± 10.4) kg] , when compared with NGT [(61.0 ± 10.2) kg,(59. 5 ±11.0) kg and (60. 1 ± 10. 4) kg, all P < 0. 05] . The same results were obtained with waist circumference and waist-hip ratio [(4. 1 ± 12. 5) cm and 0. 92 ± 0. 36 in newly diagnosed T2DM while (89. 1 ± 10. 7) cm and 0. 90 ± 0. 64 in IGR] , when compared with NGT[(82. 5 ± 10. 1) cm and 0. 82 ±0. 25] , all P <0. 05. Conclusions No gender difference was found in the onset characteristics of T2DM.High prevalence of obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and smoking with less physical activities were associated with T2DM.

Objective To evaluate the injury of optic radiation after ischemic stroke with diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). Methods From September, 2014 to September, 2015, twenty-one ischemic stroke inpatients with visual field defects were tested with DTI, and measured the fractional anisotropy (FA) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of both sides in different time. The correlation of FA and ADC to visual field mean defect (MD) in the same time was analyzed. Results The FA of affected sides was lower than that of healthy sides twenty-four hours (t=2.38, P<0.05), one week (t=15.60, P<0.01) and four weeks (t=19.13, P<0.01) after stroke, and the ADC was also lower twenty-four hours (t=10.13, P<0.01) and one week (t=6.06, P<0.01) after stroke. The FA correlated with MD one (r=0.581, P<0.01) and four weeks (r=0.703, P<0.01) after stroke, and the ADC correlated with MD twenty-four hours after stroke (r=0.519, P<0.05). The FA of one (r=0.525, P<0.05) and four weeks (r=0.762, P<0.01) after stroke correlated with MD six months after stroke. Conclusion DTI can be used to evaluate the injury of optic radiation after ischemic stroke.

Objective To determine the diagnosis and the prognosis of acute bilineal leukemia(aBLL).Methods The cases who had been morphologicaUy diagnosed as acute leukemia were retrospectively screened. The characteristics of aBLL blasts and the patients'responses to chemotherapy and the survival rate were identified based on the analysis of both their clinical and laboratory data. Results From total of 352 cases screened,11 cases of aBLL were identified. The incidence of aBLL was 3.1%.Among them 4 were male and 7 female. The median age was 38 years old.The median counts of white blood cell at the onset of the disease was 56.3×109/L.There were more My/B aBLL subtype cases than My/T aBLL (8 cases vs.3 cases). Cytogenefie analysis data were available for 7 cages. All were standard karyotypes except 1 who had complex karyotypie change. The complete remission(CR)rate of chemotherapy was 45.5%(5/11)and the response rate(CR+PR)Wag 54.5%(6/11).Only 2 patients achieved CR after the first course of induction chemotherapy. The median of remission duration was 11 months, ranged from 3 to 14 months. The median of survival time was 10 month. ranged from 1 to 23 months. 1 patient died during the induction course. Conclusion aBLL is a rare subtype of acute leukemia. The diagnosis of the disease could be based on the combinational analysis of morphology and immunophenotype study. The patients'responses to the conventional chemotherapy regimens were not satisfied. Therefore, the prognosis of the disease was poor.

AIM: To investigate the effects of auricularia auricular polysaccharide (AAP) on chronic cerebral ischemia injury in rats. METHODS: The chronic cerebral ischemia mode1 was made by permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) on the right side. AAP at different doses (50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg) was intragastrically administered at the onset of ischemia and in the following days after operation, once a day for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks of MCAO, Morris water maze test was introduced to examine the learning and memory functions. Nissl staining was performed to detect the survival neurons in hippocampal slices. Level of malondialdehyde (MDA) and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in brain tissue were measured. RESULTS: Rats treated with AAP showed a shorter escaping latency in spacial navigation test because the AAP treated rats spent less time to find the platform in spatial probe test. More survival neurons in hippocampal slices were observed from AAP treated rats. Also, the MDA level in brain tissue was reduced and SOD activity in brain tissue was increased in the AAP treated rats with MCAO. CONCLUSION: AAP protects rats from chronic brain ischemic injury, in which its anti-oxidative effect might be involved.
