2.Personality and mental health of supercargoes
Chinese Journal of Health Management 2010;04(6):359-361
Objective To investigate mental health and personality characteristics of supercargoes. Methods Catell 16 Personality Factor Test (16PF) and Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) were used in 470 supercargoes for quantitative analysis. Pearson correlation analysis, multiple regressions and t test were used for data analysis. Results The participants showed a significantly lower score, although specific items were higher than normal models. There was no difference in different age groups. 16PF were positively correlated with total score of SCL-90, except for gregariousness, intelligence, ambition, fantasy,worldly-wisdom,creativity and independency. All factors in SCL-90 were significantly related with the subfactor (i. e. adaptation and anxiety) of 16PF. Conclusion The mental health of supercargoes may not be optimistic, and the personality problems may have some effects on their mental health.

Objective To investigate characteristics of deceleration capacity (DC) and Tp-e/QT value in different age groups of patients with diabetic autonomic neuropathy, and to analyze their influencing factors. Methods A total of 487 subjects were enrolled in this study, and divided into three groups:patients with diabetic autonomic neuropathy (DM+CAN group,n=287), normal glucose tolerance patients with diabetic autonomic neuropathy (CAN group,n=130) and healthy controls (NC group,n=150).Then the DM+CAN group were further divided into three subgroups according to age tertiles:the lowest tertile group (35.0~47.2 years old,n=91),the middle tertile group (47.3~59.6 years old,n=116)and the highest tertile group (59.7~72.0 years old,n=80).All subjects were underwent 24-hour dynamic electrocardiogram recordings.DC and Tp-e/QT values were calculated, and then the correlation between DC and Tp-e/QT with other indicators was analyzed. Results The levels of WC,SBP,BMI,FPG,HbA1c,FIns and HOMA-IR were higher in DM+CAN group than in CAN group and in NC group (P<0.05 or P<0.01).DC increased and Tp-e/QT decreased from DM+CAN group,CAN group to NC group, and the pairwise comparisons were statistically significant (P<0.05 or P<0.01).DM duration,WC,FPG,FIns,HbA1c,HOMA-IR,hypertension and CHD ratio were higher in the highest tertile group and middle tertile group than in the lowest tertile group (P<0.05 or P<0.01).DM duration and FIns were higher in the highest tertile group than in middle tertile group (P<0.05 or P<0.01).RHR and AHR were lower in the highest tertile group than in the lowest tertile group (P<0.05),and there were no statistical significant difference between the middle tertile group and the lowest tertile group (P>0.05).DC increased [(2.90±0.47) vs (4.22±0.41) vs (4.97±0.35) ms],and the Tp-e/QT decreased [(0.23±0.05) vs (0.18±0.03) vs (0.12±0.02)] from the highest tertile group to the lowest tertile group,(P<0.05 or P<0.01),and the pairwise comparisons were statistically significant (P<0.05 or P<0.01).Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that age,DM duration,WC,FPG,HbA1c,complicated with hypertension and coronary heart disease (CHD) were risk factors for DC and Tp-e/QT values (P<0.05). Conclusion Together with the increased age,DC level is reduced and Tp-e/QT value increased in patients with diabetic autonomic neuropathy.Dynamic electrocardiogram should be considered in patients with advanced age, long DM duration, high level of WC,FPG,HbA1c,and complicated with hypertension and CHD,in order to prevent the occurrence of cardiovascular events effectively.

Chinese Journal of Pediatrics 2015;53(4):300-303
OBJECTIVETo detect plasma N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in acute Kawasaki disease (KD) and analyze the relationship between NT-proBNP and other bio-markers in order to evaluate if NT-proBNP could be as a useful diagnostic marker to predict the risk of coronary arterial lesions in acute KD.
METHODTotally 106 patients with KD were recruited from January 2012 to April 2014 at Department of Pediatrics of Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology,64 were boys and 42 were girls, their age ranged from 2 months to 8 years and 4 months. Of the 106 cases, 48 had typical KD(TKD) and 58 incomplete KD(IKD). They were divided into two groups according to echocardiography results: coronary arterial lesions (KD-CAL, n = 33) and non coronary arterial lesions (KD-nCAL, n = 73). Forty children whose age and gender matched with respiratory tract infection were selected as control group, 22 were boys and 18 were girls, age range from 7 months to 7 years and 11 months. Plasma NT-proBNP levels were measured by using the enzyme-linked fluorescence analysis (ELFA) at the day of admission, meanwhile blood routine tests, liver function tests, determination of C-reactive protein (CEP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), electrolytes were performed in these patients. Pearson's correlation analysis was used to evaluate the association. The ROC curve analysis was done to identify the threshold of coronary 'arterial lesions.
RESULTThe levels of NT-proBNP were (1 037 271) ng/L in TKD group and (1,325 ± 264) ng/L in IKD group. The levels of NT-proBNP in control group was (125 ± 22) ng/L. Both the levels of NT-proBNP in TKD and IKD group were significantly higher than that of control group (t = 3.360, 3.590; P < 0.05). The level of NT-proBNP in KD-CAL group was (2,775 ± 842) ng/L and that of KD-nCAL group was (830 ± 145) ng/L, NT-proBNP levels of KD-nCAL group was significantly higher than that of control group (t = 3.660, P = 0.007) ; moreover the level of NT-proBNP of KD-CAL group was also significantly higher than that of KD-nCAL group ( t = 3.860, P = 0.005). The levels of total white blood cell count, neutrophil percentage, platelet count, CRP and ESR of KD-CAL group were significantly higher than those of the control group, however there was no significant difference between KD-CAL group and KD-nCAL group. The levels of albumin and Na of KD-nCAL group were significantly lower than those of the control group. Plasma NT-proBNP level in KD group was positively correlated with white blood cell count, neutrophil percentage, and CRP (r = 0.239, P = 0.025; r = 0.359, P = 0.001; r = 0.474, P = 0.001), there was a negative correlation between albumin and Na (r = -0.303, P = 0.015; r = -0.338, P = 0.002). When the level of NT-proBNP was higher than 950 ng/L, the sensitivity for diagnosis of coronary arterial lesions in the KD was 88.1% and the specificity was 89.0%.
CONCLUSIONThe plasma NT-proBNP can be used as a useful parameter in early diagnosis of KD. Plasma NT-proBNP could be used to predict the risk of coronary arterial lesions in KD.

AIM: There are many active components of tonifying kidney to strengthen the bone in Kanggu Zengsheng capsule, but there are few reports about its effect in treating bone fracture. CR molybdenum target X-ray is often used in mammary gland examination and disease diagnosis. This study detected the callus density during fracture healing in rats by CR molybdenum target X-ray to explore the promoting effects of Kanggu Zengsheng capsule on fracture healing. METHODS: The experiment was performed at the Laboratory Centre of Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University from July 2005 to March 2006. Sixty Wistar rats with an equal amount of males and females, 170-200 g, aged 9-10 months were randomly divided into experimental group and control group (n =30). After the tibial fracture model was made, the rats in the experimental group were given 1 mL Kanggu Zengsheng capsule suspension, 14.00-15.75 mg for each, once daily, while the rats in the control group orally took matching normal saline (9 g/L) once daily. All animals were executed under anesthesia by batch on the 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 33rd days after the operation, separately. The diameter of callus was measured with vernier caliper. The values of callus density were calculated by image analysis system in the CR molybdenum target X-ray. RESULTS: Sixty rats were all included in the final analysis. The photo of CR molybdenum target X-ray showed clear bone lines, and bone and soft tissue were evident. During the process of fracture union, there were significant differences in callus density between the two groups (P

Objective To compare the result of T2/T3 transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the urinary bladder after segmental cystectomy, treated by postoperative radiation plus intravesical chemotherapy and postoperative intravesical chemotherapy alone. Methods From 1985 to Dec.1995 patients with T2/T3 TCC bladder cancer who had been treated by segmental cystectomy were eligible for this retrospective analysis. Fifty-eight patients received postoperative radiotherapy plus intravesical chemotherapy (RT+IVC) and 35 patients were given postoperative intravesical chemotherapy (IVC) with thio-TEPA or calmette-Gue'rin bacilli (BCG). For radiation,8 or 18 ?MV X-ray was given with total dose of 50-60 ?Gy. Vesicoclysis was performed on 50-60 mg thio-TEPA twice per week and 0.5 mg BCG per week. Results The 3-year local control rates of RT+IVC and IVC groups were 68.6% and 48.2% showing a difference statistically significant (? 2=4.08,P=0.044).The 3- and 5-year survival rates of RT+IVC and IVC groups were 70.7%,49.5% and 59.9%,35.7% ,showing no significant difference (? 2=1.77,P=0.184). Among the 5 year survivors of the RT+IVC patients, 78.6% had their bladder preserved. Though untoward radiation reactions were severer, they were tolerated well. Conclusions Combined radiation therapy plus intravesical chemotherapy is indicated for T2/T3 bladder cancer after segmental cystectomy. Multimodality therapy is more favored to improve both the local control and the possibility of preserving the bladder.
