International Journal of Pediatrics 2016;43(9):677-680
Bronchopulmonary dysplasia( BPD) is a chronic lung disease that commonly occurs in pre-term. Since the 1980s,with the advances in perinatal care, survival rate of preterm has been raised, while BPD continues to be a significant cause of morbidity and mortality for premature infants. However, the treatment effect of BPD is unsatisfactory. It is urgent to search for innovative ways to reduce the respiratory injury that caused by BPD as well as to improve the quality of life. In recent years, mesenchymal stem cells′( MSC) research has pro-vided a new way for the treatment of BPD. This review primarily summarizes the current status of the MSC ther-apies and its possible mechanism on BPD.

Objective To investigate the subthreshold depression for long-term survivors after breast cancer surgery and its effect on their quality of life (QOL). Methods The self-made general questionnaire, Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES- D), Hamihon Rating Scale for Depression and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy- Breast were used to investigate the subthreshold depression and its effect on their QOL for 210 long-term survivors after breast cancer surgery. The difference in general conditions and score of QOL between the subthreshold depression and non-subthreshold depression groups was also compared. Results The subthreshold depression with incidence rate of 46.67%(98/210) was observed for the log-term survivors after breast cancer surgery in this study. The results indicated that the age (≤50) (OR=5.627, 2.662,P<0.01), marriage (unmarried, divorced or widowed) (OR=5.087, P<0.01), employment (unemployed, sick leave or retired) (OR=2.077,P<0.05) and low income (<3000 RMB/month) (OR=3.375,P<0.01) were the key factors that led to the occurrence of subthreshold depression. The score of QOL for the subthreshold depression group were lower than those of the non-subthreshold depression group (t=-6.653--2.926,P<0.01), and had a significantly negative correlation with score of depression and QOL (β=-0.362--0.132). Conclusions A high incidence rate of subthreshold depression for long-term survivors after breast cancer surgery was observed. The incidence rate of subthreshold depression increased for the patients with younger age, low income, unmarried or unemployment. Due to their low QOL, attentions should be paid to the early detection and early prevention for the long-term survivors with subthreshold depression after breast cancer surgery.

OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of indometacin on apootosis and proliferation of cervical cancer Hela cell. METH-ODS:Hela cell was cultured in vitro as study object, and cultured with 0(blank control),200,400,600,800 and 1 000 μmol/L indometacin for 24,48 and 72 h. The inhibitory rate of indometacin to the proliferation of Hela cells was detected by MTT assay. After treated with 0(blank control),400,600 and 800 μmol/L indometacin for 24 h,the change of cellular morphology was ob-served by invert microscope;cell cycle phase and apoptosis were analyzed by flow cytometry. RESUITS:Indometacin of 600, 800,1 000μmol/L could inhibit the proliferation of Hela cell, which was positively correlated to drug concentration and time. Com-pared with blank control, indometacin could induce that Hela cell transformed from polygonous to round in appearance, and result-ed in cell apoptosis and necrosis;the proportion of cells at G0/G1 phase increased, while the proportion of cells at S phase reduced;the apoptotic rate of cells raised. CONCLUSIONS:Indometacin could inhibit the proliferation of Hela cell, block cell cycle at G0/G1 phase and induce apoptosis.

Objective To investigate the triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1(TREM-1) of cord blood leukocytes in neonates and the transcription level of mRNA, and analyze its promoting function of inflammatory cytokine secretion. Methods During the period from September 2013 to March 2014, cord blood was collected from 20 term neonates at the time of birth, and peripheral blood was collected from 20 healthy adults. The expression of TREM-1 and TREM-1 mRNA on leukocytes was observed using flow cytometry and real-time reverse transeription-polymerase chain reaction, respectively. After the whole cord blood was stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or LP17 plus LPS, the contents of interleukin (IL)-6, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), IL-8 and soluble TREM-1 (sTREM-1) in the supernatant were analyzed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The statistical significance was determined using the one-way ANOVA test, t test, q test and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results The mean fluorescence intensity of TREM-1 on leukocytes of newborns was not different compared with healthy adults (P>0.05), while the percentage of TREM-1 positive on polymorphonuclear cells was lower than that of healthy adults [(82.3±7.1)% vs (98.6±4.8)%, P<0.05]. The level of TREM-1 mRNA in newborns was lower than in healthy adults (1.16±0.13 vs 1.63±0.24, t=7.714, P<0.01). The LPS treatment significantly increased sTREM-1 in newborn whole blood compared with the control treatment [(156.7±36.3) vs (34.6±6.1) pg/ml, t=13.623, P<0.01]. The concentration of IL-6, TNF-αand IL-8 decreased significantly when TREM-1 was blocked by LP17. In addition, the concentration of sTREM-1 showed a positive correlation with the levels of TNF-α(r=0.519, P<0.05), IL-6 (r=0.507, P<0.05) and IL-8 (r=0.538, P<0.05). Conclusions Healthy newborns exhibit expression of TREM-1 on monocytes similar to healthy adults, and most PMNs express TREM-1 at the newborn stage. Blocking the TREM-1 signal transduction pathway may reduce inflammatory responses of neonate leukocytes.
