AIM: To observe the effect of sibutramine in the treatment of obesity with different body weight. METHODS: Forty overweight subjects were divided into three groups according to their BMI: Group 1 (n=10), the early stage of obesity; Group 2 (n=11), obesity in degree Ⅰ; and Group 3 (n=19), obesity in degree Ⅱ. The patients conformed to the same standards of diet, sports and life style, and then took sibutramine 10 mg a day for 12 weeks. RESULTS: After taking the medicine for two weeks, the efficacy rate was 45.5 % (5) in Group 2 and 94.7 % (18) in Group 3 (P
3.Expression of interphotoreceptor retinoid-binding protein in lens-induced myopia in guinea pig
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(8):702-706
Background The pathogenesis of myopia is currently unclear. Studies showed that retinoic acid regulates the development of myopia. Whether IRBP, a retinoid transport proteins, participates in the development of myopia or not is unknown. Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of interphotoreceptor retinoid-binding protein (IRBP) in the retina of guinea pig with lens-induced myopia and study the relationship between IRBP expression and experimental myopia. Methods Fifty guinea pigs were randomized into the normal controls(n=10) ,defocus Ⅰ group (n=20) and defocus Ⅱ group (n=20). Guinea pigs in the defocus Ⅰ groups wore -10. 00 D lenses on the right eyes for 14 days and the defocus Ⅱ group for 28 days. The left eyes of both defocus groups did not wear any lens served as self-control. The refraction diopter and axial length were measured before and after wearing lenses. The protein expression of IRBP in the retina was detected by immunohistochemisty and Western blot. RT-PCR was used to observe the level of IRBP mRNA in the retina. Result Compared with the control eyes, the right eyes in the defocus Ⅰ and Ⅱ groups developed to ( -5. 53±1.93) D and (-8.69±2.46) D, and the ocular axial length elongated to (0. 31±0. 15 ) mm and (0.41 ±0. 13 ) mm, showing statistically significant differences between them ( group Ⅰ: t= 12. 57,29.63 ,P<0.05 ;group Ⅱ :t= 15.82,44.35 ,P<0.05 ) ,and the degree of myopia was lower and axial length was shorter in group Ⅰ than the eyes of group Ⅱ ( P<0.05 ). There was no statistically significant differences found between the left eyes of defocus group Ⅰ and defocus group Ⅱ or eyes of the control group in diopter and axial length (P>0.05). Immunochemistry revealed that the mean gray value of IRBP protein expression was 165.62t4. 93 and 171.00±4. 25 in defocus Ⅰ group and defocus Ⅱ group and was significantly higher than that of the self-control eyes and the normal control group ( 156. 31±4.00,155.26 ±3.49 and 158.61 ±4. 58 ) ( P<0.05 ). Western blot demonstrated that the expressios of IRBP protein were down-regulated and RT-PCR showed the IRBP mRNA level of IRBP was significantly lower in defocusIgroup and defocusⅡgroup, compared with the self-control eyes and the normal control group (P<0. 05). Conclusion Expression of IRBP in guinea pig may play a role in lens-induced myopia.

Ginseng is a typical adaptogen which has resistance to various stresses. This effect is related to the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. As the main active ingredients, saponin has the similar structure to steroids. The regulation characteristics of ginseng saponin on the HPA axis are narrated from the aspects of total saponin and saponin monomers in this paper after the introduction of adaptation definition and HPA axis regulation mechanisms. Pharmacological effects of ginseng saponin and the regulation effect of HPA axis are summarized finally.

Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2008;17(4):248-251
Objective To find the possible relationship between defects in the FA/BRCA pathway of genomic maintenance and potential pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukaemia. Methods Twenty-five AML cell lines derived from diverse subtypes of AML were screened to investigate for possible defects in FA,BRCA patllway. Results The absence of FANCN protein in two cell lines,THP-1 and M-07e were observed, which was correlated with the results of MMC-induced G2 arrest, growth inhibition and chromosomal breakage test in both cell lines. But no gene aberrance in these two cell lines by MLPA test and DNA sequencing were found. Conclusion There is a possible relationship between defects in the FA/BRCA Dathway and potentialpathogenesis of acute myeloid leukaemia.A disturbance of theFA pathwaymay represent an early event in the development of this type of leukaemia.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2015;17(8):699-703
Objective To explore clinical value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in preoperative risk assessment and choice of operation scheme for knee cartilage injury. Methods A retrospective study was conducted of the 69 cases of knee cartilage injury which had been confirmed by surgery between January 2013 and June 2014.They were 29 males and 40 females, aged from 15 to 76 years (average,46.9 years). All cases underwent preoperative 1.5 T MRI by a special diagnostic instrument for limbs. The injury was assessed after MRI according to the Outerbridge criteria to evaluate surgical risks and choose an appropriate operation scheme (drilling,micro-fracture or autoallergic cartilage grafting). The intraoperative observations were compared with the preoperative images. Results MRI found in the 69 patients 345 cartilage surfaces,of which 208 were abnormal.Of the abnormal ones,75 (21.7%) were grade Ⅰ which presented with intact or slightly eminent contour and dots or patches of low or high signals in the cartilage;39 (11.3%) were grade Ⅱ which presented with thinned cartilage, defects < 50% of the full thickness,or (and) indented or wavy cartilage surface, dots or patches of low or high signals in the cartilage, and dropsy signals in cavity;43 (12.5%) were grade Ⅲ which obviously thinned cartilage, defects > 50% of the full thickness, and massive dropsy signals in cavity;51 (14.8%) were grade Ⅳ which presented with full thickness defects of cartilage, subchondral bone exposure beneath the defcts, and abnormal adjacent tissues. The preoperative findings were in agreement with what were observed during surgery in terms of number and extent of cartilage injury. Conclusion Because MRI can exactly display knee cartilage injury in terms of location, degree, and size,it provides solid evidence for preoperative risk assessment and choice of operation scheme for knee cartilage injury.
