1.THE REGRESSION FORMULAE OF ESTIMATION OF THE PYRAMIDAL ANGLE DERIVED FROM THE MAXIMUM LENGTH AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LENGTH AND BREADTH OF ADULT CRANIA IN CHINESE
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
The pyramidal angles of 102 cases (204 sides) of Chinese adult crania were studied. The coefficient of correlation between the average figures of the cranial length and pyramidal angles were calculated. The coefficient of correlation between the cranial length and the pyramidal angle is -0.288 and between the difference of cranial length and breadth and the pyramidal angle is -0.326, which denote a rather high degree of negative correlation. It is concluded that the maximum length is inversely proportional to the size of the pyramidal angle, that is, the greater the length, the less the angle and vice versa. The mean value of the pyramidal angles is 52? (more exactly, 51.635?) in Chinese. The angles on both sides are nearly equal in 46.6% of cases, and are apparently different in 53.4% of cases. Its sex and side differences are insignificant. The authors calculated the regression formulae of the estimation of pyramidal angle from cranial length and from the difference between its length and breadth. The results of the estimation of regression formulae suggest that by taking the cranial length as 17 cm or their difference as 3 cm and the pyramidal angle as 52? to be the basic key values and if the cranial length or their difference increases by 1 cm, the pyramidal angle will decrease by 1 degree and inversely it is also true.

The regression formulae of estimating the auditory meatus angle of 100 cases(200 sides)of Chinese adult crania were studied. The coefficient of correlation between the average figure of each cranialmeasurement and auditory meatus angle was calculated. The coefficient of correla-tion between the maximum cranial breadth and auditory meatus angle is(-0.881)which denotes a rather high degree of negative correlation. It is concluded that themaximum cranial breadth is in inverse proportion to the size of the auditory meatusangle, that is,the wider the breadth, the smaller the angle. On the contrary, thecoefficient of correlation between the auricular height and auditory meatus angle is0.311 which exhibits a positive correlation, that is,the higher the height, the largerthe angle and vice versa. The mean degree of the auditory meatus angle is 21?(more exactly 21.21?)in Chinese, and the sex and side differences are notsignificant. This paper calculated the regression formulae of the estimation of auditorymeatus angle from the maximum cranial breadth and the auricular height.Thecoefficient of regression of the former is(-3.85?0.397),t_b=9.695,P

Objective To verify the association of a disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain 33 (ADAM33) polymorphisms in childhood asthma susceptibility and severity in patients with moderate and severe asthma. Methods A total of 144 controls and 110 asthmatic patients were recruited for this hospitalbased case-control study. Two polymorphic sites (V4,T2) were genotyped using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. The gene-gene interactions were analyzed with the multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR) software. Results The allele frequencies of three SNPs (V4,T2) of ADAM33 in childhood asthma group were significantly higher than control group (P < 0.01,OR =2.36 ~ 2.96,95% CI:1.56-1.78 ~ 3.56-4.94).For the SNPs V4,GC genotype frequencies of both moderate and severe groups were significantly higher from the control group (P < 0.05) ; the CC genotype frequencies in severe group were significantly higher than control group (P < 0.05) ; the genotype GA of T2 locus in severe group and AA genotype frequencies in moderate group were significantly higher than control group (P <0.01 ~0.05) ; there were no significant differences for both allele and genotype frequencies of S2 locus between the childhood asthma and control group (P > 0.05).By MDR analysis, the best interaction model was the four-factor model that the V4,T2 genotypes were the subgroup to predict asthma risk. Conclusions Our results highlight the role of ADAM33 as a susceptibility gene for childhood asthma, and the interactions among ADAM33 V4 and T2 are also associated with childhood asthma.

Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of transurethral frontfiring photoselective vaporesection for the treatment of cystitis glandularis,by comparing with the transurethral bipolar plasmakinetic resection. Methods From January 2014 to July 2016,41 patients with pathologically diagnosed cystitis glandularis in our hospital, were divided into two groups, including 22 cases underwent transurethral frontfiring photoselective vaporesection(the observation group),and the other 19 cases underwent transurethral bipolar plasmakinetic resection(the control group). All patients were regularly treated with postoperative intravesical instillation chemotherapy with pirarubicin. The clinical data of two groups were statistically analyzed to compare the differences of the safety and efficacy. Results All the surgeries were performed successfully. There were no statistical significances in perioperative data, the operation time, the decreased concentration of hemoglobin(Hb)and Na+,operative related complications, indwelling catheter duration and hospitalization duration between the two groups. The first-time cure rate and the effective rate of transurethral frontfiring photoselective vaporesection showed significantly better than those of transurethral bipolar plasmakinetic resection(P<0.05 for each). Conclusion Comparing the traditional transurethral bipolar plasmakinetic resection for the treatment of cystitis glandularis, tansurethral frontfiring photoselective vaporesection with postoperative intravesical instillation chemotherapy with pirarubicin,is a safer, simpler, and more effective method, which could be a new optional method in the conditional hospitals, deserving the worthy of clinical popularization.

Objective:To evaluate the clinical effect of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine on common type of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID -19) in Henan Province. Methods:A prospective single arm clinical study was performed. Patients with common type of COVID -19 admitted to seven designated hospitals for COVID -19 in Henan Province from January 25th to February 26th, 2020 were enrolled, and treated with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The negative transformation of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019 -nCoV) nucleic acid, disease outcome, hospital stay, clinical symptoms and signs scores, and chest imaging performance were observed. Results:Totally 86 cases were included in the analysis, including 48 males (55.8%), aged 43.5 (35.0, 53.3) years old, 24 patients (27.9%) with previous medical history. Fifty-eight patients were primarily diagnosed COVID -19 and 28 patients were transferred. The 2019 -nCoV nucleic acid of 86 cases (100%) turned negative, and the median time of turning negative was 10 (7, 14) days. Eighty-six cases (100%) were discharged from hospital, and none turned into the severe type; the average length of hospital stay was (13.8±5.6) days. The scores of fever, cough, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and fatigue decreased with the treatment time, and the scores of 7 days and 14 days after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment [fever (points): 0 (0, 0), 0 (0, 0) vs. 1 (0, 1); cough (points): 1 (0, 1), 0 (0, 1) vs. 1 (0, 2); chest tightness (points): 0 (0, 0), 0 (0, 0) vs. 0 (0, 1); shortness of breath (points): 0 (0, 0), 0 (0, 0) vs. 0 (0, 1); fatigue (points): 0 (0, 1), 0 (0, 1) vs. 1 (0, 1); all P < 0.05]. The improvement rate of X ray and CT image was 42.9% (12/28) and 81.0% (64/79), respectively. Conclusions:The treatment with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine has good curative effect on common type of COVID -19 in 7 designated hospitals of Henan Province. It can improve the clinical symptoms, promote the absorption of pulmonary inflammation, and to some extent control the progress of disease and shorten the time of turning negative of virus nucleic acid and hospital stay.
