1.Diagnostic Value of Long Bone X-Ray Photograph on Asymptomatic Congenital Syphilis in Newborns
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2004;0(08):-
Objective To determine the incidence of long bone lesions and clinical characteristic in early newborn with asymptomatic congenital syphilis. Methods The syphilis antibody in 26 infants with asymptomatic congenital syphilis who were diagnosed and treated in our hospital from April 2001 to May 2004 were detected, and the clinical feature and X-ray features were analyzed. Results Twenty-six infants and their mothers all had the antibody positive of syphilis.Treponemal antibody titer were 4 times higher than their mothers in the infants blood serum.Their general conditions showed normal and had no symptoms when they were hospita-(lized).Then,there were 24 cases (92%) with positive physical signs and /or abnormal findings on the liver function tests and blood routine and long-bone radiographs.Long-bone radiographs were abnormal for approximately 38%(10 of 26)of asymptomatic newborns with congenital syphilis.Metaphysitis was shown and looked like sandwich biscuit in X-ray photograph. Conclusions Asymptomatic congenital syphilis has no symptoms in the early stage.Bone X-ray photograph should be included in the assessment of newborns with a positive serology.Further support is needed in the diagnosis and treatment of early newborns with asymptomatic congenital syphilis.

ObjectiveTo study the protective effects of Qiqiong(QQJN) on focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury and its mechanism. MethodsMiddle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) was used to make focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion model by intravascular nylon filament occlusion. The protective effects of QQJN were evaluated by investigating neurological function score, percentage of cerebral infarction, pathomorphology of brain, the activity of SOD and the content of MDA in hrain tissue, thrombogenesis and platelet aggregation in vitro. ResultsCompared with model group, QQJN(4.4、8.8g/kg)could decrease the neurological score in 8 and 22h after reperfusion, reduce the percentage of cerebral infauction, improve pathomorphology of brain, decrease the length, wet weight and dry weight of thromb and inhibit platelet aggregation. ConclusionQQJN had protective effects on focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. The role of anti-injury of free radicals, inhibit thrombogenesis and platelet aggregation should contribute to its neuroprotective effects.

Objective We discussed the effect of body massage combined with massage of breast point (ruzhong point and rugen point) to facilitate the milk secretion, alleviate the swelling pain of breast, recover physical strength of mother, establishment of the confidence of breast feeding and increase the success rate of breast feeding. Methods We divided 212 parturients into the test group (104 cases) and the control group (108 cases). The test group received body massage combined with massage of breast acupuncture point based upon routine postpartum nursing. The control group received routine postpartum nursing We observed the time and volume of milk secretion in the two groups. Results The time of milk secretion of the test group was ahead of that of the control group and volume of milk secretion was increased in the test group than that of the control group (P<0.01). Conclusions Body massage combined with massage of breast point (ruzhong and ruzhong point) could place the time of milk secretion ahead, increase the volume of milk secretion. Besides, it could alleviate the swelling pain of breast and ensure the success d breast feeding.

Objective To investigate the characteristics of CD8+ stem memory T cells (CD8+Tscm) in patients with chronic HIV-1 infection before and after antiretroviral therapy (ART) and to analyze their associations with progression of HIV-1 infection. Methods Thirty-six patients with chronic HIV-1 infection and 20 healthy subjects were enrolled in this study.Flow cytometry was performed to detect the percentages and absolute numbers of CD8+Tscm in patients with chronic HIV-1 infection before and after antiretroviral therapy (ART) as well as in healthy subjects.Correlation analysis was used to demonstrate the relationships between CD8+Tscm and markers for progression of HIV-1 infection (CD4+T cell count, HIV-1 viral load and level of activated T cells). Results The percentages and the absolute numbers of CD8+Tscm in patients with chronic HIV-1 infection had no significant change before and after ART.They were respectively positively correlated with the percentages and the absolute numbers of CD4+Tscm.The percentage of CD8+Tscm was proportional to the percentage of CD8+ central memory T cells (CD8+Tcm), but was inversely proportional to the percentage of CD8+ effector memory T cells (CD8+Tem).In addition, the percentages of CD8+Tscm in patients with HIV-1 infection were negatively correlated with the viral loads before ART.Conclusion CD8+Tscm are responsible for maintaining the homeostasis of other CD8+T cell subsets.CD8+Tscm play an important role in inhibiting viral replication.

Objective To compare treatment and efficacy of thoracolumbar fractures by using three different screw fixations:traditional approach, the vertebral side clearance into the road and percutaneous pedicle. Methods A total of 82 single segmental thoracic lumbar fractures cases hospitalized from March 2011 to March 2014 ,with male 67 cases ,female 15 cases ,and average age(33.7+/-12.5)years old. Patients were randomly divided into three groups:traditional approach group (n = 23),operation through paraspinal muscle gap group (n = 30),percutaneous group(n = 29). These following indicators will be compared in three groups:duration of operation ,intraoperative blood loss ,intraoperative fluoroscopy time ,postoperative flow ,VAS scores before and after operation and Oswestry disability index , difference of spinal sagittal position Cobb′s Angle. Results Compared with the traditional approach group ,operation through paraspinal muscle gap group and percu-taneous group have obvious advantages in duration of operation, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative flow,VAS scores before and after operation ,the Oswestry disability index. Additionally ,above mentioned three surgical methods could recover kyphosis deformity ,and there was no statistically significant difference among three groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion In the treatment of monosegmental thoracolumbar fractures ,compared with traditional approach ,operation through paraspinal muscle gap and percutaneous pedicle screw internal fixation have more advantages which includes fewer trauma, less bleeding, faster recovery and lower incidence of postoperative low back pain.

Objective To investigate the value of laparoscopy in comprehensive early ovarian cancer staging by comparing the feasibility and safety of laparoscopy and laparotomy in surgical staging of early-stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Methods A total of 102 patients with EOC who underwent comprehensive laparoscopic (LPS group, n=71) or laparotomic (LPT group, n=31) staging at Southwest Hospital from November 2007 to November 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. The perioperative parameters, postoperative complication rate and the long-term curative effect were compared between the two groups. Results (1)LPS group had less intra-operative blood loss [(288±239) vs (631±463) ml], lower rate of blood transfusion(14%vs 58%), larger number of pelvic dissected lymph nodes (18.1±5.6 vs 15.5± 4.6), lower vasual analogue scalescore(VAS) pain score (2.1 ± 1.6 vs 3.0 ± 1.1), shorter gastrointestinal recovery time [(2.6 ± 0.8) vs (3.5 ± 0.9) days] and shorter hospital stay [(9.9 ± 2.9) vs (11.3 ± 5.0) days] when compared with LPT group (all P<0.01). No significant difference were found in operation time, number of para-aortic lymph nodes, rate of postoperative upstaging and adjuvant chemotherapy between the two groups (all P>0.05). (2) No significant difference was found in postoperative rate of complications [11%(8/71) vs 19%(6/31),χ2=1.192, P=0.275]. (3) No significant difference was found in recurrence rate [17%(11/66) vs 14%(4/29), χ2=0.125, P=0.724] and 5-year overall survival (86.7% vs 86.8%, P=0.874). Conclusion Compared with LPT group, there are no significance differences in recurrence rate and mortality between two groups, laparoscopic staging, which could be recommended as a choice of surgical treatment of early ovarian cancer, shows more favorable operative outcomes including minimally invasive, less intra-operative blood loss, less postoperative pain and quicker recovery.
