Dendritic cells (DCs) are crucial for the induction and maintenance of tumor-specific immune responses. Studies have shown that tumor-associated DCs are immunosuppressed in some human tumors. However, phenotype and function of DCs in retinoblastoma (RB) remain unclear. RB cell supernatant (RBcs) was used to treat DCs in vitro to explore the effect of RB cells on DCs. DCs were generated from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of healthy donors. On day 5 of culture, DCs were treated with RBcs for 24 h, and then purified using magnetic beads. The maturation of DCs was induced by TNF-α or LPS. After treatment with RBcs, expression of co-stimulatory molecules CD80 and CD86 was elevated in DCs, accompanied by increased production of IL-12p70, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, and IL-8 but decreased production of IL-10. RBcs neither inhibited DC maturation nor promoted DC apoptosis. Moreover, RBcs-exposed DCs stimulated allogenetic T cell proliferation and T cell-derived cytokine production. These results indicate that RBcs can improve DCs' antigen presenting function and capability to activate T cells, suggesting that RB cells may have an immunostimulatory effect on DCs, and DC-based immunotherapy may be adopted in the treatment of RB.

Objective To explore the monitoring of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics in a model of brain herniation induced by acute intracranial hypertension in Guangxi Bama-Mini pigs by phasecontrast cine magnetic resonance imaging (PC cine MRI).Methods Femoral artery blood were extracted from 10 pigs, and injected into the frontal and temporal parietal lobe to make a model of brain herniation induced by acute intracranial hypertension. The mean arterial blood pressure (MAP),intracranial pressure (ICP),and cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) were monitored.Routine T1WI,T2WI,coronal,sagittal and cerebrospinal fluid flow sequence (fast PC cine slice) which positioned on the cervical 3 (C3) vertebral body as the center and perpendicular to the spinal scans were performed on all experimental animals before and after blood injection with 3.0T Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The ICP,MAP,CPP,the absolute values of CSF peak flow velocity and the absolute value of carotid peak flow velocity before and after blood injection were compared. Results The ICP,MAP,CPP,and the absolute value of CSF peak flow velocity before injection of autologous arterial blood were statistically significant as compared with those after blood injection [(6.80±2.044) mmHg vs (52.20±1.619) mmHg,(76.80±7.068) mmHg vs (142.80±12.399) mmHg,(70.00±6.074) mmHg vs (90.50±12.250) mmHg,and the absolute value of CSF peak flow velocity was (243.20±77.671) mm/s vs (201.40±55.482) mm/s,respectively,P<0.01].The absolute value of the peak velocity of the carotid artery before blood injection was not statistically significant compared with that after blood injection [(876.80±239.908) mm/s vs (799.40±241.829) mm/s,P>0.05].Conclusion After the formation of brain herniation induced by acute intracranial hypertension, the CSF flow in the C3 level spinal canal showed a low dynamic change, and the CSF flow velocity waveform was disordered and malformed. The non-invasive measurement of CSF dynamics by PC cine MRI can provide an important basis for the change of CSF dynamics in the model of brain herniation induced by acute intracranial hypertension, and provide a theoretical basis for further research on damage control neurosurgery in the future.

This article has systematically reviewed the name, origin, scientific name, producing area, quality evaluation, harvesting and processing methods of Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma(POR) by consulting the materia medica, medical books, prescription books and modern literature, in order to provide a reference for the development of famous classical formulas containing POR. Yuzhu was first recorded in the Shennong Bencaojing under the name of Nyuwei. After that, Weirui was used as the rectification name in the subsequent dynasties, and in recent times, the name of Yuzhu is mostly used in materia medica and prescription books. In ancient times, there were different names for Yuzhu, such as Nyuwei, Weiwei and Weirui. The names of the three are similar and there was a mixed use of the same name and foreign matter in history. In the Tang dynasty, SU Jing listed Nyuwei with the effect of curing dysentery in the intermediate of herbal part of Xinxiu Bencao according to its different efficacy. However, based on Shennong Bencaojing, Mingyi Bielu and the different energy efficiency of medical prescriptions, SU Song of the Northern Song dynasty believed that the three were medicinal materials of different origins. In short, the names of the three have been unclear in history for a long time. According to the development of the time line, this paper examines the names and realities of the three, and concludes that the two(Weiwei and Weirui) are the same medicinal material, that is, Polygonatum odoratum of Liliaceae, and the Nyuwei is Clematis apiifolia of Ranunculaceae, and the source relationship of the three is clarified. The mainstream source of Yuzhu used in the past dynasties was the rhizome of P. odoratum, which was widely distributed in the wild and has a large amount of resources. The origins of Yuzhu recorded in ancient times were mainly Taishan in Shandong, Chuzhou and Shuzhou in Anhui, and Hanzhong in Shaanxi, in modern times, it was produced in northern Hebei and Shaoyang in Hunan with high quality, and in the modern times, Jiangbei Yuzhu from Haimen in Jiangsu, Anyuzhu from Nanling, Anqing and Tongling in Anhui, Guanyuzhu from Fengrun, Yutian, Zunhua, Huailai in Hebei and Suizhong, Jinxi, Jianchang, Lingyuan, Liaoyang, Haicheng, Gaiping in Liaoning, Xiangyuzhu from Shaoyang in Hunan are the authentic medicinal material. In ancient times, the quality of Yuzhu was good if it was fat and white, while in modern times, it is better with thick roots, bright yellow color, soft texture, no stiff skin and no oiliness. In ancient times, the origin processing of POR was mostly dried in the shade, but in modern times, it is mostly sun-dried or dried after steaming and rubbing. The ancient processing was mostly scraped off the skin and soaked in honey water and then steamed through, while the modern one is mostly washed and cut into thick slices for raw use. Based on the conclusion of the herbal textual research, it is suggested that the rhizome of P. odoratum of Liliaceae be used as the source for the development of famous classical formulas, and the corresponding specifications be selected according to the processing requirements of the prescription. In view of the Yiweitang in Wenbing Tiaobian, which uses the method of frying fragrance to achieve the effect of fragrant refreshing the spleen, it can be processed by referring to the stir-frying method in the current version of Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

Cinnamomi Ramulus and Alismatis Rhizoma are commonly used in the treatment of external-contraction diseases. Cinnamomi Ramulus is pungent, sweet, and warm, with the effects of ventilating lung and dispersing cold, warming Yang and transforming Qi, and promoting water and liquid flow from Taiyang meridian to remove dampness. Alismatis Rhizoma is sweet and cold, with the effects of draining dampness and promoting urination, regulating the waterway, removing water retention in lung, and promoting urination to remove dampness and heat. Herbal pairs are extracted from the accumulated experience of medical practitioners over the ages in the use of medicines and have been proved by clinical application to be composed of simple and effective combinations for specific diseases. The herb pair Cinnamomi Ramulus-Alismatis Rhizoma is an important part in ancient classic formulas such as Wulingsan. Both herbs play a role in draining dampness and promoting urination, warming Yang and transforming Qi, being a representative herb pair used for treating external-contraction exterior syndrome and water retention inside. The review of ancient medical publications revealed that there were a large number of compound formulas containing Cinnamomi Ramulus-Alismatis Rhizoma for dispersing cold and removing dampness, which were widely used for thousands of years in clinical practice. Modern pharmacological studies have shown that the active pharmacological components of Cinnamomi Ramulus (cinnamaldehyde and cinnamic acid) and Alismatis Rhizoma (alisol A and 23-acetate alisol B) have anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and immunoregulatory effects and high safety. Qingfei Paidu decoction containing this herbal pair played an important role in fighting against COVID-19. Despite the extensive pharmacological studies on Cinnamomi Ramulus and Alismatis Rhizoma, few studies have been carried out regarding this herb pair. This paper summarizes the traditional Chinese medicine knowledge about Cinnamomi Ramulus and Alismatis Rhizoma in the treatment of external-contraction diseases and summarizes the chemical composition, pharmacological effects, toxicology and other aspects of the two herbs before and after compatibility, aiming to provide a reference for further research and clinical application.
