Objective To investigate the inhibition effects of simvastatin on proliferation and migration of cultured porcine coronary vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs) induced by oxidized lower density lipoprotein (OX-LDL). Methods Porcine coronary SMCs were incubated with serum-free medium containing different concentrations of simvastatin. Infiltration of ~3H-TdR into SMC DNA was measured as an index of cell proliferation. Simvastatin's effect on migration was tested with Sarkar's technique. Results Different concentrations of simvastatin (10~(-8)-10~(-5) mol/L) caused a decrease in ~3H-TdR infiltration in porcine coronary SMC. The migration number of porcine coronary SMCs also decreased proportional to the simvastatin concentration. Conclusion Simvastatin can inhibit the proliferation and migration of porcine coronary SMCs stimulated by OX-LDL in a dose-dependent manner.

Objective To increase the awareness of the incidence trend of ischemic colitis and improve the level of diagnosis and treatment. Methods From January 2004 to December 2013,the clinical data of 89 in patients with ischemic colitis were retrospectively analyzed. At the same period,100 patients diagnosed as chronic colitis were enrolled as control group. The laboratory findings of patients with ischemic colitis were compared with those of control group.Non normal distribution data were analysed by non parametric test. Results The annual person-times of patients with ischemic colitis and the percentages accounted in the whole hospital annual person-times increased year by year in recent 10 years, which was one person time and 0.01% in 2004 increased to 41 person-times and 0.11% in 2013.The average age of the 89 patients was (63.5±12.7) years, and the male to female ratio was 1∶2.18.The most common underlying disease in the 89 patients was hypertension, accounted for 43.8%.Thirty-eight patients had a history of abdominal surgery, and eighteen patients with appendectomy, accounted for 20.2%.Seventy-eight patients had abdominal pain and defecation desire.Seventy-four patients complained of hematochezia.Compared with control group, there was no statistically significant difference in fasting blood glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol, blood platelet levels and prothrombin time (all P>0.05).While the levels of C reactive protein and Ddimer were higher than those of control group (89.21 mg/L vs 61.29 mg/L,90.13 μg/L vs 59.39 μg/L; Z=-3.959,-4.377; both P<0.05).The images of computed tomography (CT) indicated thickened bowel wall in lesion segment. The results of colonoscopy showed that in the left colon and rectum were the predilection sites, accounted for 93.88% (138/147).The average hospital stay was (10.59 ± 5.97) days and t he recurrence rate was 3.37 % (3 / 89).The percentage of chronic cases was 2.25 % (2/89),and no death was reported. Conclusions The incidence of ischemic colitis significantly increased in recent years.Patients with abdominal pain and/or hematochezia should be considered, especially those over 60 years old.Receiving colonoscopy as earlier as possible was helpful for the diagnosis.

Objective To understand the blood lipidcondition of perimenopausal women ,control and standard-reaching situ-ation of dyslipidemi.MethodSix hundred and forty inpatientaged 45-55 yearold (including 400 femaleand 200 males) ad-mitted in the Jiangbei People′Hospital from January 2000 to January 2014 and 200 femaleaged ove60 yearwere selected .TG , TLDL-,HDL-,complicating disease, control of blood pressure and blood lipid, and the lipid-regulating drugapplication situ-ation were recorded .ResultThe prevalence rate of dyslipidemiin perimenopausal women wa23 .40% .The blood lipidcontrol standard-reaching rate wa40 .80% ;the average levelof TG ,LDL-and Tin the perimenopausal women were highethan those in the men of the same age ,while the average level of HDL-walowethan thain the men of the same age .The prevalence rate of dyslipidemiwahighethan thain the men .The average lipid level in the femaleaged ove60 yearwere highethan thaof the perimenopausal women .Conclusion The lipid level of perimenopausal women ihighethan thain the men athe same age . The prevalence rate of dyslipidemiilowethan thain the femaleaged ove60 year, and the control standard-reaching rate is lower.

Objective To analyze the clinicopathologic characteristics, treatment and prognosis of retinoblasto-ma without calcification. Methods The clinic and pathologic data of 20 cases of retinoblastoma without calcification were analyzed retrospectively. All the cases were selected from 710 cases of retinoblastoma archived in Beijing Tongren Hospital,Capital Medical University from April 2010 to April 2015.The inclusion criteria was no calcification on CT scan before treatment. The patients after enuclea-tion were diagnosed according to pathology;the patients without enu-cleation were diagnosed according to clinical manifestations,Retcam fundus, ophthalmic ultrasound and the reduction of tumor after chemotherapy. The clinical features, treatment and prognosis were summarized through statistical analysis of the 20 cases. The patients were followed -up through clinical reexamination and telephone calls. Results In this study, there were 14(70.0%)male and 6(30.0%)female patient′s;there were 19 cases(95.0%)less than 5 -year -old,14 cases (70.0%)less than 3 -year -old,1 case (5.0%)less than 1 -year -old.Eighteen cases (90.0%)were unilateral disease, and 2 cases (10.0%)were bilateral disease.According to international Intraocular Retinoblastoma Classification stage:4 cases (18.2%)in stage E ,17 cases (77.3%)in stage D ,1 case (4.5%)in stage C.Five cases (25.0%)were enucleated eyes, and pathology report was retinoblastoma.Nine cases (45.0%) were treated with pre -enucleation chemotherapy, and finally enucleated after poor tumor shrinkage or recurrence, and the pathology was retinoblastoma.Five cases (25.0%)without enucleation were stable. One case (5.0%)failed to follow -up owing to the patients irregular treatment. In 14 enucleation cases, histopathologic high risk factors could be found in 3 cases (21 .4%),and couldn′t be found in the other 11 cases (78.6%).In the cases that were not enuclea-ted,the tumor diminished in size or new calcification presented in the fundus examination, and in 12 cases, new calcifi-cation was pre-sented on follow -up CT scan.Follow -up failed in 1 case(5.0%),but follow -up was available for 19 cases, and among them 13 cases (68.4%)were disease -free survival and 6 cases (31 .6%)were alive with tumor. Conclusions Close attention should be paid to the untypical retinoblastoma with no calcification on CT scan through well -taken medical history and meticulous imaging examination,in order to give early diagnosis and therapy.

Objective To explore the efficacy of a new elastic suspension strap orthosis, designed by the authors, in improving the motor function and walking ability of stroke patients. Methods Thirty-nine stroke pa-tients less than 1 month after stroke were recruited and divided randomly into a treatment group and a control group. The patients in the treatment group accepted walking training with the assistance of an elastic suspension strap orthosis, 5 times a week for 8 weeks, while the control group accepted the same training without the assistance of the elastic suspension strap orthosis. Results The treatment group improved significantly more than the control group with regard to its average Fugl-Meyer score, the functional ambulation categories of its members, and their walking speeds. Conclusions The elastic suspension strap orthosis could help correct abnormal gait patterns, improve walking speed, and enhance the recovery of walking ability in stroke patients.
