The total ascorbic acid contents of 21 kinds of vegetables and melons in Ch'angsha within the later 3 seasons of 1955 and the spring time of 1957 were determined with the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine coloremetric method (Roe and Kuether, as well as its modification by Schaffert and Kingsley). From the result obtained, it is found that throughout the four seasons in Ch'angsha, there were many vegetables and melons rich in vitamin C.
