6.The role of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors and its agonist in the ophthalmology
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2014;32(10):954-960
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) belong to the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily of ligand-dependent transcription factors. To date, three isotypes of PPARs called PPARα,PPARγ and PPARβ/δ have been identified. The relationship between PPARγ and fibrosis disease has increasingly drawn people's attention.PPARγ is activated by its ligands or agonists plays an important role in the control of fibrosis through their effects on various cellular processes, including anti-inflammatory,inducing cellular apoptosis and differentiation, anti angiogenesis, antioxidative and anti-proliferative effects, which is expected to be a new way to treat ocular diseases. The role of PPAR-γ and its agonist in ocular diseases, including PPARs and its distribution, the structure and function of PPAR-γ,PPAR-γ ligands and agonist, activation of PPAR-γ,PPAR-γ in the expression of eye tissues, and the role of PPAR-γ and its agonist in ocular diseases were reviewed.
7.Research progress in corneal neovascularization and microenvironment
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2016;34(2):184-188
In a variety of pathological conditions, capillaries grow from corneal limbus to the central cornea area,to form corneal neovascularization (CNV).CNV destroys the normal corneal microenvironment, reduces the transparency of cornea, seriously affects visual acuity and leads to corneal transplantation immune rejection.Corneal microenvironment includes inflammatory mediators, cytokines and extracellular matrix (ECM).Studies showed that corneal microenvironment changes have a close relationship with CNV.This article reviewed the relationship of corneal microenvironment with CNV.
8.Research progress of Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation in the treatment of neovascular glaucoma
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2017;35(4):368-371
Neovascular glaucoma (NVG) is a kind of devastating secondary glaucoma characterized by neovascularization in iris and anterior chamber angle, which often results in loss of vision. The current standard of treatment includes retinal ablation and control of enhanced intraocular pressure with drugs and surgical therapy. There are a lot of surgical therapies of NVG,while the prognosis of these therapies are not satisfactory as most of them would be effected by different kinds of complications.Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation (AGVI) is one of the main treatments means being widely used with less postoperative complications, such as shallow anterior chamber, low intraocular pressure.Failure of AGVI mainly caused by fiber hyperplasia and neovascularization.AGVI combined with anti-fibrosis therapy and anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy might be a promising method to promote surgical outcomes. It has been shown that AGVI combined with anti-VEGF drugs can improve the success rate of surgery.Besides, some researchers found that AGVI with intraoperative application of anti-fibrosis drugs, such as mitomycin C,sustained-release anti-fibrosis drugs can improve the prognosis of surgery in neovascular glaucoma patients. The progress of research on anti-fibrosis and anti-VEGF treatment combined with Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation was discussed in this review.

International Eye Science 2017;17(6):1119-1122
AIM: To compare the efficacy of vitrectomy combined with internal limiting membrane peeling and C3F8 or sterile air tamponade for idiopathic macular hole (IMH).METHODS: In this research, 51 cases of IMH with holes diameter ≤600μm were accepted from the same doctor of department of Ophthalmology in Luoyang Central Hospital from January 2011 to January 2016.All the patients were under taken vitrectomy combined with internal limiting membrane peeling and gas tamponade. All the study subjects were divided into two groups (Group A and Group B).The Group A were tamponaded with perfluoropropane(C3F8)(27 eyes), while the Group B were tamponaded with sterile air (24 eyes). The closure rate and morphology of macular hole, the time of prone position, the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), the improvement of metamorphopsia and the process of cataract were compared and statically analyzed in these two groups. While the closure rate was compared among ≤200μm, >200-400μm and >400-600μm groups.Postoperative followup time was 1wk, 1, 3mo and half a year.RESULTS: The difference of two groups was no statistically significant in all interval according to holes diameter (P>0.05).The difference of two groups was no statistically significant in morphology of macular hole form(P>0.05).The time of prone position in Group B was significantly shorter than that in Group A, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The BCVA of postoperative was improved than preoperative, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).However, there was not statistically significant between the two groups in the BCVA of postoperative(P>0.05).The metamorphopsia of postoperative was improved than preoperative in two groups while there was not statistically significant between the two groups in the BCVA of postoperative(P>0.05).Cataract progress rate was reduced in the Group B than the Group A, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).CONCLUSION: This study shows that sterile air tamponade can obtain same closure rate, morphology of macular hole and the improvement of metamorphopsia and visual function in holes diameter ≤600μm when reducing the time of prone position and the risk of systemic diseases induced by prone position after operation.
10.COMPARATIVE HISTOCHEMICAL OBSERVATIONS ON THE CHANGES OF MUCOSUBSTANCES IN FETAL GASTRIC MUCOSA AND GASTRIC ADENOCARCINOMA
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1955;0(03):-
Specimens of gastric mucosa were obtained from 16 cases of fetal stomach, aging from 11 weeks to full term, 5 cases from gastric adenocarcinoma, one case from gastritis and one case from normal adult. The contents of their mucosubstances were compared histochemically with Mowry's alcian blue and PAS techniques. The results are as follows:The mucosubstances of gastric mucosa undergo a conspicions change during the fetal life. In general, acid mucopolysaccharide appear at first in the epithelium and rudimentary gastric pits and it is replaced subsequently by neutral mucin. This mucosaccharide replacement varies within different areas and stages. The neutral mucin always takes its appearance about the 11th week at the cardiac and pyloric regions where the mucosubstance have begun to reveal pruple colour in AB-PAS reaction. After the 4th month, the neutral mucosacchaide has completed its replacement in both areas except the lower parts of pyloric glands which still show some mixed mucins. In the corpus tomach, acid mucin is present almost during the whole fetal life but converts into mixed type only at birth. The parietal cell do not contain any mucous material during its histogenesis, but the chief cell may contain some alcianophilic granules which will change into faintly PAS-positive at birth. With alcian blue at low pH, it proves that most of the acid mucosaccarides are sulfated mucosubstance.Adjacent to the bottoms of gastric pits and the necks of gastric glands, some acid mucin often remains in 1he epithelial and neck mucous cells of normal adult just as those of newborn. The acid mucosubstance occurs in various degree within the spaces or lumen of adenocarcinoma tissue. It could be considered that the bottoms of pits and necks of glands would be a cellular bases for further development of gastric carcinnoma under certain conditions.
