The mesoporous manganese dioxide (MnO2) materials were synthesized by the calcinations of manganese carbonate (MnCO3) precursors in air atmosphere at 300, 350 and 400℃. The slurries of MnO2 and binder were sprayed on the quartz electrodes. Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) was conducted with cyclic voltammetry to analyze the electrochemical behaviors of the three MnO2 samples in 0.1 mol/L sodium sulfate (Na2SO4). The mass of the three samples were generally increased during potential cycling, especially in the first stage, which suggested that an irreversible reaction process occurred. The as-synthesized MnO2 at 300℃ had the better electrochemical stability and capacity retentivity. The three materials were assembled to (-) active carbon/MnO2 (+) supercapacitors and the charge-discharge tests were conducted. The results showed that 35%-40% capacity loss was occurred in the initial cycling, and the total discharge capacities of MnO2 formed at 300℃, 350℃, 400℃ were 15.9, 12.9, 11.7 mA h/g, respectively. The detection results of QCM method were consistent with that of the charge-discharge tests, suggesting that this QCM method could be used for distinguishing the electrochemical performance of mesoporous MnO2 materials.

Liver cirrhosis is a common gastrointestinal disease. Portal vein thrombosis( PVT ) can increase the mortality of patients with liver cirrhosis. Studies showed that increased D-dimer level, spleen thickness and Child-Pugh score are independent risk factors of PVT in liver cirrhosis. In addition, increased portal vein diameter, reduced portal vein blood velocity, elevated P-selectin level can predict the development of PVT after portal hypertension surgery. This article reviewed the advances in study on risk factors of PVT in liver cirrhosis.

Objective To construct the recombinant adenovirus vector carrying rat vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) as preparation for later use for genetic transfection. Methods Rat VEGF was obtained by using RT-PCR amplification and then cloned into the shutter plasmid pDC316.Subsequently,this newly constructed plasmid pDC316-VEGF,after identification by nuclease digestion analysis and sequencing analysis, was transfected into human embryonic kidney cells HEK293 by lipofectamine 2000 mediation, together with adenovirus-packaging plasmid pBHGE3.Based on the homologous recombination of the two plasmids within HEK293 cells, the recombinant adenovirus vector carrying VEGF,VDC316-VEGF,was created.VDC316-VEGF was subsequently identified using PCR,purified using repeated plaque passages, proliferated using freezing and melting within HEK293 cells, and titrated using 50% Tissue Culture Infective Dose(TCID50) assay. Results The newly constructed recombinant adenovirus was confirmed carrying rat VEGF by PCR,and its titration value determined based on TCID50 assay was 3?109pfu/ml.Conclusions The recombinant adenovirus carrying rat VEGF was successfully constructed. The newly constructed adenovirus can produce a sufficiently high titration value within HEK293 cells, providing a reliable tool for genetic transfection in further gene therapy researches.

Objective To study the effects of light at different intensities and an enriched environment (EE) on rats' level of voluntary exercise, and to explore the resulting benefits. Methods Thirty male SpragueDawley rats were tested successively under 4 different experimental conditions:EE + strong light,EE + dim light,open-field environment (OFE)+ strong light and OFE + dim light. Each rat's path in the different conditions was recorded using an automated tracking system.Distance moved (m),velocity (m/s),mobile duration (s),mobile frequency, moving duration (s) and moving frequency were recorded over a one-hour period. ResultsThe EE rats were significantly more active than the OFE rats in both strong and dim light. All rats were more mobile under dim light than under strong light. Conclusion Environment and light intensity are independent factors affecting rats' voluntary exercise levels, and they can exert their influence in synergy.

Murine gammaherpesvirus 68 (MHV-68), a member of the gammaherpesvirus family, replicates robustly in permissive cell lines and is able to infect laboratory mice. MHV-68 has emerged as a model for studying the basic aspects of viral replication and host-virus interactions of its human counterparts. Herpesvirus genome replication is mediated through a cis-element in the viral genome called the origin of lytic replication (oriLyt). A family of transcription factors, CCAAT/enhancer binding proteins (C/EBPs), assists in oriLyt-mediated DNA replication during gammaherpesvirus reactivation. In this study, we examined the role of C/EBPs in gammaherpesvirus DNA replication during de novo infection, using MHV-68 as a model. We found that C/EBP α and β bind to the CCAAT boxes in the MHV-68 oriLyt core region both in vitro and in vivo, as demonstrated by electrophoretic mobility shift assay and chromatin immunoprecipitation assay. A dominant negative form of C/EBPs significantly impaired the lytic replication efficiency of MHV-68 on both the plasmid and genome levels in a replication assay, indicating that functional C/EBPs are required for maximal MHV-68 genome DNA replication. Collectively, our data demonstrate that C/EBPs interact with the oriLyt core region and play an important role in MHV-68 lytic DNA replication during de novo infection.
