Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2011;34(9):7-9
Objective To explore the value of serum human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) in the prediction of ovarian cancer onset risk. Methods Petected the expression of HE4 by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and CA 125 by electrochemiluminescence (ECL) in serum of 75 samples of ovarian cancer (ovarian cancer group),132 samples of ovarian benign disease (ovarian benign disease group) and 30 samples of healthy women (control group),calculated the sensitivity and specificity of HE4 and CA125 in the prediction of ovarian cancer onset risk, and drew receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results The expression of serum HE4 and CA125 were both higher in ovarian cancer group than those in ovarian benign disease group and control group (P < 0.05 ). HE4 was a better index in the prediction of ovarian cancer onset risk than CA 125 (ROC area under curve was 0.966 and 0.905 respectively). The expression of HE4 was various in different pathological types, serous ovarian adenocarcinoma had the highest expression of HE4 (100.0% ,42/42). The sensitivity of diagnosing ovarian cancer by HE4 was 86.7%(65/75), 93.3%(70/75) by HE4 combining and/or CA125,there was no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion Serum HE4 could be a good index of predicting the onset risk of ovarian cancer, the combination of HE4 and/or CA125 could not increase the sensitivity of prediction of ovarian cancer significantly.

Developmental dyslexia is a specific learning disability. The cerebral mechanism of development dyslexia is an important topic that has fascinated many researchers. With the introduction of brain imaging in studies of cerebral mechanism of development dyslexia, many achievements have been made. Studies of developmental dyslexia structure image found that development dyslexia showed brain structure abnormal in the parietotemporal region, occipitotemporal cortex, inferior frontal gyrus, and cerebellum et al, manifesting either in one specific area or by the asymmetry of one area; the functional image studies revealed that development dyslexia showed activity abnormal in most regions that proved to display structure abnormality; studies of brain functional connectivity demonstrates that the abnormality of development dyslexia happened not only in the connection between front-back part in one cerebral hemisphere, but also in the connection between the two hemispheres. In addition, some studies indicate Chinese development dyslexia has different brain mechanisms compared to that of alphabetic languages. These findings provide valuable insight for future developmental cerebral mechanisms research and for the expansion of Chinese development dyslexia research.

Objective To supply anatomic foundation for TRAM and DIEP flaps breast reconstruction with both sensory innervation and rectus abdominis muscle function preserved. Methods Dissections of T8~T12 nerves in anterior abdominal wall were performed on 9 embalmed female cadavers (18 sides). By reconstructing DIEP flaps in 15 cases, the natures of the intercostal nerves and the relations with deep inferior epigastric perforators were investigated. Results Most intercostal nerves pierced the rectus abdominis muscle in the lateral one third. There were interconnections between muscular branches of segmental nerves. Sensory branches traveling with vascular perforators were divided into medial branch and lateral branch. The mean length of pure sensory nerve was (27.6?12.2)mm. Conclusion It is possible to preserve sensory innervation by coapting lower intercostal nerves to the 4th thoracic nerve in TRAM and DIEP breast reconstruction. Sparing lateral one third of rectus abdominis muscle does not cause denervated atrophy in the rectus abdominis muscle after TRAM breast reconstruction.

Objective To investigate the effects of ?-interferon (IFN-? on the expression of costimulatory molecules B7-1 (CD80) and B7-2 (CD86) and Fas/FasL in human retina. Methods Nine human eyes were obtained from the eye-bank of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center. Six eyes were used for making retinal wholemounts, and 12 retinal wholemounts from each eye were put into the 24-hole culture board which had 2ml DMEM/F12 culture medium in each hole. The wholemounts were divided into 3 groups whose concentration of IFN-? was 0, 200, and 1 000 U/ml respectively. After cultured in 37℃ culture box (95%O2,5%CO2) for 24 hours, the expressions of B7-1 (CD80), B7-2 (CD86), and Fas/FasL on these retinal wholemounts were detected by immunohistochemical method. The retinal wholemounts from 3 healthy people were detected by immunohistochemical method as the control. Results Expression of FasL but not B7-1, B7-2 or Fas was found in the control group, while the expression of B7-1, B7-2 and Fas and increased expression of FasL were found after cultured with IFN-?. Conclusion IFN-? may be involved in the occurrence of ocular immune response and induction of apoptosis via the stimulation of expression of costimulatory molecules and Fas/FasL, which plays an important role in the activation of T lymphocytes.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 1983;0(03):-
Objective To investigate the soldiers' mental health status and its influence factors after sea training. Methods A total of 1 107 military men were evaluated by using the symptom check list 90(SCL 90) and Eysenck personality questionnaire(EPQ) after sea training. Results In this study, except interpersonal sensitivity index, all factorial scores of the military man after training were higher than the norm of normal Chinese. The total scores and some factorial scores, such as obsession, interpersonal sensitivity, panic and paranoid were significantly lower than those of the norm of normal Chinese servicemen. In this group, 230 (20 78%) soldiers had the single factor score higher than 3. The mean factor score of SCL 90 of the solders coming from cities was higher than that of those from rural areas. Scores of the men who served for 1 year were higher than those for 2 years. Correlation analysis of the scores of SCL 90 and EPQ showed more emotional instability, introversion, and fierce emotional reaction resulted in higher score of SCL 90. Conclusion The mental health status of the military men investigated was good. Sea training had almost no influence on them. However, about 20% soldiers had mental health problems resulted from the factors such as higher level of education, coming from cities, short service time, and some personality characteristics.
