Purpose The incidence of cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) shows a rising trend in recent years, and misdiagnosis or improper treatment of it can cause serious consequences. In this paper, we analyzed the characteristics of MRI and ultrasonography of CSP to provide a basis for choice of clinical imaging techniques. Materials and Methods Fifty-eight patients with cesarean scar pregnancy were studied retrospectively, all the cases underwent preoperative color Doppler ultrasound (trans-vaginal or together with trans-abdominal), and 31 cases were examined with MRI, the accurate imaging features and diagnosis rate of each was analyzed. Results 48 patients (82.8%) were diagnosed accurately by color Doppler ultrasound, including 20 cases of out-growth type (95.2%, 20/21), 18 cases of inner-growth type (90.0%, 18/20) and 10 cases of mass type (58.8%, 10/17); 27 cases (87.1%) were diagnosed accurately by MRI, including 8 cases of out-growth type (100.0%, 8/8), 4 cases of inner-growth type (66.7%, 4/6), and 15 cases of mass type (88.5%, 15/17).Conclusion The diagnostic accuracy of sonography for CSP is close to that of MRI, thus can act as the first choice; MRI can be chosen for combine examination to improve the accurate diagnostic rate when the CSP case is mass type detected by ultrasonic findings which is difficult to be diagnosed.

Objective To assess whether there was strong association between antiphospholipid antibodies(APA) and coronary heart disease(CHD), to study the environmental factors of APA production and APA pathogenic mechanism in patients with CHD.Methods Blood samples from 76 patients with CHD and 30 controls were tested for anticardiolipin antibodies IgG(ACA-IgG),human cytomegalovirus IgG,IgM(HCMV-IgG,IgM) by enzyme-link immunosorbant assay(ELISA) and 6-keto-PGF1a,endothelin(ET) by radioimmunoassay(RIA).Results A total of 27 patients(35.53%) were ACA positive in 76, as compared to 2 of 30(6.67%) healthy individuals, P<0.05. There was no difference in ACA among acute myocardial infarction(AMI,39.13%), old myocardial infarction(OMI,26.53%), unstable angina pectoris(UA,38.40%), P>0.05. The number of ACA positive subjects was higher in HCMV infection patients with CHD than no HCMV infectious patients with CHD. There was no PGI2 and ET level difference between ACA-IgG positive and negative CHD.Conclusion There are strong association between APA and CHD. The HCMV infection may be an environmental factor of APA production in CHD patients with raised ACA. The alteration of PGI2 and ET are not the pathogenic mechanism of ACA in patients with CHD.

BACKGROUND: Cervical spinal cord injury without radiographic abnormality (SCIWORA) is a special type of spinal cord injury. Because of the particularity of children in the period of growth and development on the aspects of anatomy and biomechanics, their injured mechanism and therapeutic method differ from those of adults.OBJECTIVE: To explore clinical feature and therapy of first-episode cervical SCIWORA in children.DESIGN: Retrospective analysis and self pre-and post-control observation.SETTING: Department of Spine Surgery, Second Affiliated Hospital,Harbin Medical University.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 14 patients with cervical SCIWORA, who were treated at the Departmentof Spine Surgery, Second Affiliated Hospital,Harbin Medical University between June 1997 and June 2003. Inclusive criteria: ①patients who had dysfunction of sensation, exercise and sphincter to different degree in clinic, ②patients who had no fracture dislocation after cervical vertebra X-ray plain film and MRI examination. The MRI examination showed the sign of spinal cord injury. T1WI spinal cord became thick. T2WI distributed at strip-shape high-signal region along spinal prosenchyma and spread upward and downward. There were 3 patients with complete spinal cord injury and 11 patients with incomplete spinal cord injury, among the patients with incomplete injury, there were 6 patients with central cord syndrome (CCS), 3 with Brown-Sequard syndrome and 2withfrontal spinal cord injury syndrome.METHODS: Retrospective analysis was performed in 14 children patients with cervical SCIWORA. Thirteen patients were not treated with operation and one patient was treated with cervical posterior atlantoaxial fusion. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ASIA grading before and after treatment in patients.RESULTS: There were 1 dead patient and 13 cases with 3-year follow up averagely. Three patients were with insignificant amelioration, and others had recovery of limb function to different degree. According to ASIA grading standard, before treatment there were 3 cases in A grade, 5 cases in B grade, 5 cases in C grade and 1 case in D grade, and after treatment there were 1 case recovering to B grade, 2 cases to C grade, 5 cases to D grade and 2 cases to E grade.CONCLUSION: Restoration of neurofunction of children with cervical SCIWORA has closely correlation with degree of primary injury of spinal cord. Most of the patients were not treated with operation, and those with obviously instable cervical vertebra can be treated with operation.

This study is to explore the active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine rhubarb with antiproliferative activity on hypertrophic scar fibroblasts (HSF). Rhubarb was extracted with Soxhlet extraction method by different polar solvents. MTS method was used to screen rhubarb solvent extracts (25 microg x mL(-1)) with anti-proliferative activity on HSF, and flow cytometry was used to detect their influences on cell cycle. Then, the active ingredients were analyzed by HPLC. The components with high activity were identified by UPLC-Q/TOF and verified by HE staining. The results showed that the ethyl acetate extract of rhubarb had higher anti-proliferative activity (P < 0.01), increased significantly the proportion of cells in G0/G1 phase (P < 0.01), and reduced the proliferation index (PI) (P < 0.01). The main active ingredients were anthraquinones. The results of confirming experiment showed that emodin, rhein and gallic acid could inhibit cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner. In conclusion, the ethyl acetate extract of rhubarb showed anti-proliferative activity on HSF, and the anti-proliferative ingredients might be anthraquinones.
