1.Significance of pancreatic stone protein in pancreatic injury and sepsis
Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2014;(11):1093-1096
Pancreatic stone protein (PSP) is the product of exocrine pancreas mainly synthesized and secreted by the pancreas acinar cells, a small amount secreted by gastrointestinal cells. PSP is one of stress protein family members secreted in the pancreas. PSP increased in acute and chronic pancreatitis, diabetes, inlfammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal tumors. In recent years, some studies showed that PSP has potential clinical value in pancreatic injury and sepsis. In this article, we reviewed the progress of pancreatic stone protein in pancreatic injury and sepsis.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2013;(23):1427-1430
Objective:This study aimed to investigate the relationship between estrogen receptor (ER) and Bcl-2 in cervical can-cer and precancerous lesions. Methods:ER and Bcl-2 were evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 20 non-tumor tissues, 30 low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasias, 70 high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasias, and 80 cervical cancers. Results:The positive rate of ER was 75%in non-tumor tissues;this rate decreased with disease severity (χ2=24.266, P<0.01). The overexpression of ER protein was remarkably lower in cervical intraepithelial neoplasias (CIN) Ⅱ-Ⅲ and carcinomas than in non-tumorous cervices. Differences were not significant between CINⅠand non-tumorous cervices (χ2=0.751, P=0.386). Furthermore, ER expression was not correlated with histological type and tumor grade. The positive rate of Bcl-2 was 75.38%in squamous cell carcinoma. This rate increased with dis-ease severity (χ2=27.715, P<0.01). The Bcl-2 protein overexpression was remarkably higher in CINⅠ, CINⅡ-Ⅲ, and carcinomas than in non-tumorous cervices. Bcl-2 expression was also not correlated with histological type (P=0.500);by comparison, Bcl-2 expression was correlated with tumor pathological grade (χ2=4.862, P=0.027). The co-expression of ER and Bcl-2 was 38.57%and 15.38%in CINⅡ-Ⅲand squamous cell carcinoma, respectively;the differences between these two values were significant (χ2=9.108, P=0.003). A cor-relation between ER and Bcl-2 was observed in CINⅡ-Ⅲ(r=0.506, P<0.01);no correlation was observed between other groups. Con-clusion: ER expression was inversely correlated with Bcl-2 in cervical cancer progression. The co-expression of these markers may have an important function in the course of high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.

Objective To explore the relationship between quality life and TCM constitutions of elderly patients with hypertension in a community in Shanghai; To provide the basis for the suitable and feasible community elderly hypertension management method. Methods Through multistage stratified sampling method, 808 elderly patients with hypertension in the community were investigated for their life quality and TCM constitutions on the basis of inform consent and voluntary participation. The life quality and TCM constitution characteristics as well as the relationship were analyzed by applying the statistic analysis software. Results Among the investigated elderly patients with hypertension in the community, 97.28% cases’ overall life quality was above the middle level and 91.46% cases’ self-evaluated health and quality of life scores were above the middle level. 54.70% cases were gentleness type, and the biased constitution was dominated by qi deficiency, yang asthenia, yin asthenia and phlegmatic hygrosis. The relationship between life quality and TCM constitutions may be existent. If TCM constitutions tended to be gentleness type, the physical score and the psychological score would be higher, which leaded to better quality of life. Conclusion TCM constitution characteristics are associated with quality life of elderly hypertension patients in the community. Intervention targeted on the results of TCM constitution identification would be better to prevent and control hypertension and improve health level and quality of life.

Chitosan(CS)surface was modified with hydrophobic octyl groups to prepare N-octyl chitosan(nitro-gen-octyl chitosan;OC).Then hydrophilic group carboxyl-polyethylene glycol-amino (PEG);tumor-targeting lig-and D-glucosamine(DG);and membrane-penetrating peptide 9-D-arginine(9R)were linked to OC successively. Then the DG and 9R modified chitosan micelle (DG/9R-PEG-OC)with tumor-targeting and transmembrane effect was prepared.By hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer (1 H NMR)and sodium dodecyl sul-fate polyacryl amide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE);the successful formation of DG/9R-PEG-OC was certified;with particle size of 151.8 nm and Zeta potential of 16.5 mV.The morphology of chitosan micelle observed by transmission electron microscope was homogeneous spherical structure. The drug loading content (DLC)(using fluorescein as a model drug)and encapsulation efficiency (EE)were about 28.2% and 75.0% measured by UV-visible spectrophotometer.Meanwhile;the drug showed a controlled releasing profile out of the micelle.Cellu-lar uptake experiments indicated DG/9 R-PEG-OC micelle had a significant tumor-tageting and transmembrane effects;especially on HepG2 cells;which exbihited high expression of the glucose transporter. Thus DG/9R-PEG-OC micelle could be a promising drug targeted delivery system of hydrophobic antitumor drugs.

Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2015;(7):637-640
ObjectiveTo explore the value of elevated amylase in assessment of severity of the disease and its inlfuencing factors in critically ill children.MethodThe clinical data from critically ill children hospitalized in pediatric intensive care unit were retrospectively analyzed from November 2009 to June 2014. According to levels of serum amylase, the critically ill children were divided into normal serum amylase group (≤103 IU/L) and elevated serum amylase group (>103 IU/L). The differences between two groups were compared.ResultsA total of 1920 critically ill children were enrolled, most of whom had primary respiratory and neurological diseases. Among them, 1470 children had normal serum amylase (76.6%) and 450 children had ele-vated serum amylase (23.4%). The elevated serum amylase group had signiifcantly higher rate of organs failure (≥4), lower rate of PCIS (<70), higher rate of invasive mechanical ventilation and mortality than those in normal serum amylase group (P<0.001). The correlation of serum amylase with lipase blood, urine amylase, blood urea nitrogen and creatinine were signiifcant (r=0.246 to 0.683,P<0.001). Blood amylase was positively correlated with shock index (r=0.111,P=0.002) and negatively correlated with respiratory failure index (r=0.133,P<0.001).ConclusionsSerum amylase could be used to assess the severity of disease. The elevated amylase was closely related to pancreatic exocrine function, renal function, ischemia, and hypoxia. The elevated serum amylase in critically ill children is a warning sign.
