Total hip replacement (THR) is replacing the prosthesis stem similar to human bone that takes advantage of the material with both good mechanical properties and biocompatibility to the damaged articular surface. Thus it can not only alleviate or even eliminate the pain but also effectively maintain the joint stability and freedom and restore its normal performance. Finite element analysis was used in this study to establish a 3D model of artificial hip stem, and explore its fatigue properties of different materials to ensure the safety and reliability. The calculating obtained two results of different metal hip prosthesis, including lifetime and deformation. The minimum service life of titanium prosthesis reaches 568 million times, which satisfies ISO standards, while the stainless steel does not suit to be a prosthesis material.

Objective To investigate the nutritional state in elderly hospitalized patients(≥70 years old)and provide clinical evi-dence for nutritional support in elderly people .Methods From June to December 2012 ,342 elderly hospitalized patients(≥70 years old)in Daping Hospital ,the Third Military Medical University were included .All of these patients were originally screened by resi-dent doctor ,and were revaluated by dietitians in the Department of Nutrition for the nutritional status .The revaluation was conduc-ted by Nutritional Risk Screening 2002(NRS 2002) ,which recommended by ESPEN ,and combined with the laboratory examina-tion .Results In 342 cases ,the nutritional risk rate was 96 .49% ,the incidence of malnutrition was 28 .79% ,and the incidence of a-nemia was 59 .24% .The incidence of low total serum protein ,low albumin ,and low prealbumin were 51 .40% 、93 .18% and 85 . 30% ,respectively .Conclusion Elderly hospitalized patients(≥70 years old)have high nutritional risk ,high incidence of malnutri-tion ,anemia ,and low blood albumin .Clinical nutritional support is necessary for bad nutritional status elderly patients .

Objective To assess the volume of epicardial adipose tissue(EAT) and intrathoracic adipose tissue(IAT) and the correlation of EAT,IAT and the EAT/IAT ratio with the severity of coronary artery atherosclerosis in patients with metabolic syndrome(MS) and coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods Ninty-seven MS subjects without coronary atherosclerosis and one hundred and eighteen MS subjects with CHD were enrolled in this study.The volumes of EAT,PAT and IAT were measured using axial data from base to apex traced manually with a dedicated semiautomatic software program-volume.Results (1)Compared with MS subjects without coronary atherosclerosis,MS subjects with CHD had significantly increased age[(60.6± 1 1.4)years vs.(57.9 ± 8.7) years,P=0.001],positive family history of cardiovascular disease(29.7％ vs.21.6％,P=0.03),EAT[(98.3±41.4) cm3 vs.(82.2±39.7) cm3,P=0.001],IAT [(171.3±64.1) cm3 vs.(156.2±48.1) cm3,P=0.001] and HbA1c[(7.1 ± 1.8)％ vs.(6.6±2.3)％,P=0.02],but siginificantly reduced total cholesterol[TC,(4.9 ± 1.2)mmol/L vs.(5.4 ± 1.0) mmol/L,P=0.003],low-density lipoprotein cholesterol[LDL-C,(3.0±1.1) mmol/L vs.(3.6±1.0) mmol/L,P=0.03] and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol[HDL-C,(1.0 ± 0.4) mmol/L vs.(1.1 ± 0.3) mmol/L,P=0.04].(2) In MS subjects without coronary atherosclerosis,the volumes of EAT,pericardial adipose tissue(PAT) and IAT were associated with gender,body mass index(BMI),waist circumference(WC),diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia(all P＜0.05); however,in MS subjects with CHD,the volumes of EAT,PAT and IAT were associated with BMI and WC (both P＜0.05).(3) The volumes of EAT and IAT were correlated with calcification grades(r values were 0.45 and 0.50,P values were 0.017 and 0.013,respectively) and Gensini score(r values were 0.476 and 0.563,P values were 0.015 and 0.017,respectively) instead of coronary artery calcifacation score(CACS).Moreover,the EAT/IAT ratio was negatively correlated with CACS(r=-0.321,P=0.028).Conclusions Compared with MS subjects without coronary atherosclerosis,MS subjects with CHD have significantly increased EAT and IAT volumes.In our subjects,the volumes of EAT,PAT and IAT were associated with BMI and WC.Only in MS subjects with CHD,the volumes of EAT and IAT were correlated with caleification and Gensini score.

OBJECTIVE: To study the sedative and antistress action of Shenqiwuweizi capsule. METHODS: The sedative and hypnotic experiments were made to observe the action of Shenqiwuweizi capsule on the mice's sleep induced by pentobarbital sodium at subthreshold dosage or hypnotic dosage. The swimming and hypoxia tolerance experiment were performed to observe the effects of Shenqiwuweizi capsule on the swimming time and hypoxia tolerance time in mice. RESULTS: Shenqiwuweizi capsule could obviously prolong the sleeping time of mice induced by pentobarbital sodium, increase the number of sleeping animals caused by pentobarbital sodium at subthreshold dosage, and significantly prolong the time of swimming and hypoxia tolerance in mice. CONCLUSION: Shenqiwuweizi capsule had sedative and anti-stress action.

Aim To study the effect of (S) -1, 8-(2-methyl phosphate ethoxy )-6-fluorine-7-( 4-methyl- pi-perazine-1-base )-3-[ S-benzyls-based-4-( for nitroben-zene methylene group amino )-1 , 2 , 4-all triazole-3 base]-quinoline ( 1-H )-4-ketone ( M18 ) on apoptosis of hepatocarcinoma SMMC-7721 cells in vitro. Meth-ods With different concentrations of M18 at different time used to treat SMMC-7721 cells, human breast cancer MB-231cells, human colon cancer HCT-116 cells, human hepatocarcinoma HEPG-2 cells, mouse bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells ( BMSCs ) in vitro,the inhibition effects of M18 on cell proliferation were examined by MTT assay. Cell apoptosis was de-termined using Hoechst 33258 fluorescence staining and TUNEL method. Mitochondrial membrane poten-tial (△ψm ) was measured using a high content screening image system. Protein expression of caspase-3 , p53 and cytochrome C was detected with Western blot analysis. Results Treatment with M18 ( 4 ~32μmol·L-1 ) potently inhibited the proliferation of the cancer cells in time-and dose-dependent manners ( the IC50 value at 24 h in SMMC-7721 cells, MB-231cells,
HCT-116 cells and HEPG-2 cells was 8. 65 μmol · L-1 , 9. 37 μmol · L-1 , 12. 74 μmol · L-1 and 9. 40μmol · L-1 , respectively ) . In contrast, M18 had weak cytotoxicity against BMSCs with IC50 value of 38. 96 μmol·L-1 . Levofloxacin had weak cytotoxicity against SMMC-7721 cells with IC50 value of 735. 10μmol·L-1 . Treatment of SMMC-7721cells with differ-ent concentrations of M18 for 24 h increased the per-centage of the apoptosis cells ( P <0. 05 ) and de-creased the mitochondrial membrane potential. In ad-dition, M18 increased protein expression of p53, caspase-3 and the cleaved activated forms of caspase-3 in SMMC-7721 cells. Treatment of SMMC-7721 cells with M18 significantly increased cytochrome C in the cytosol, and decreased cytochrome C in the mitochon-drial compartment. Conclusion The mitochondrial-dependent pathways are involved in M18 induction of apoptosis of SMMC-7721 cells.

BACKGROUND:Many scholars have experimental y confirmed the obvious effect of mesenchymal stem cells to repair radiation injury. OBJECTIVE:To preliminarily investigate the mechanism of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells promoting the healing of combined radiation-wound skin injury and whether they possess tumorigenicity in vitro. METHODS:Fifteen Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups, five rats in each group. The right buttock of rats (2.5 cm×2.0 cm) was irradiated with 40 Gyβ-rays produced by a linear accelerator, in which a round wound with a diameter of 1.5 cm was made. After 12 hours of modeling, human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells at three concentrations (5.0×106, 1.0×107 and 2.0×107 ) were injected through tail vein of rats, and luciferin (20 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneal y. celldistribution in vivo was traced using IVIS in vivo imaging system. The ability of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells to form colonies was observed using the colony formation assay with soft agar. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells injected through tail vein of rats were mostly gathered in the lungs. cells were accumulated in the injured site of rats injected with 2.0×10 7 human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells;however, the fluorescence signal was not observed in the injured site of rats injected with 5.0×106 and 1.0×107 human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells. The other results indicated human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells of low dose, medium dose and high dose had no colony formation on soft agar, but the tumor cells had a great ability to form colony. These findings indicate that human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells promote healing combined radiation-wound skin injury by local migration and exhibit no tumorigenicity in vitro in a short period.

Objective To analyze the clinical features and the application of bronchoscopy in diagnosis and treatment of children with bronchiectasis.Methods All cases with bronchiectasis were collected from in-patient department of the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from December 2011 to November 2015.Clinical manifestations,results of bronchoscopy examination were retrospectively analyzed.Results Of the 33 children,32 cases (97.0％) had chronic cough and sputum.Lung infection was the main cause (50％,16/33 cases).High resolution CT showed signet ring sign and/or double-track sign in lungs,and bronchiectatic lesions were most commonly found in the lower lobes (60.6％).Eighteen cases underwent bronchoscope ciliary biopsy,and the number of cilia decrease was found in 2 cases,and cilia ultrastructure abnormalities were found in 6 cases,with 2 cases diagnosed as Kartagener syndrome.The treatment included the following:treatment of the underlying disease,aggressive treatment of infections,promotion of mucociliary clearance,and bronchoscopy.The symptoms of the most patients were relieved through the symptomatic treatment.Follow-ups after discharge,showed that 15 cases had a slight cough without obvious sputum,11 cases with recurrent lung infections,regular bronchoscope lavage treatment;4 cases underwent surgical lung resection and recovered well postoperative,and 2 cases died.Conclusion The bronchoscopy should be performed early in the children with bronchiectasis,which can clearly detect pathogens and causes,so as to undertake lavage treatment to improve clinical symptoms.

Objective To evaluate the postoperative prognosis of the modification of diet in renal disease formula (MDRD) in coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) in hospital or 4 years after hospitalization. Methods Two hundred and seventy-two CABG patients were divided into 3 groups according to the levels of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) including 35 cases in eGFR < 60 ml/min group, 119 cases in 60 ≤ eGFR < 90 mL/min group and 118 cases in eGFR ≥90 ml/min group. The prognostic factors of CABG patients were analyzed by COX proportional hazards models. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to compare survival curves among the three groups stratified by eGFR levels. The Log-rank statistic was used for comparing between groups. Results By multivariate COX regression adjustment for body mass index, smoking, hypertension, hyperlipaemia, diabetes mellitus, previous MI, perioperative PCI and etc. , the relative risk (RR) of the increasing age for cardiac events was 1.077(95% CI 1.002-1.158,P =0.044). RR of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was 0.005(95% CI 0.000-0.456,P =0.022). RR of eGFR was 0.968(95% CI 0.948-0.988,P =0.002). The survival rate in the first, second, third and fourth year were same in every group. The survival rate of group with eGFR < 60 ml/min, 60 ≤ eGFR < 90 ml/min and eGFR≥ 90 mL/min was 76.4%, 93.1%, and 96.6%. The survival rates among three groups were statistically significant. In the survival curve of 4 year follow-up after CABG, the survival rate of group with eGFR < 60 mL/min was lower than that of 60 ≤ eGFR < 90 ml/min group and eGFR ≥ 90 ml/min group. Conclusions The preoperative eGFR is an independent risk factor in evaluating cardiac events in hospital and after hospitalization. It has a higher prognosis value in patients undergoing CABG.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of low-dose levothyroxine sodium in treatment of severe pulmonary tuberculosis with euthyroid sick syndrome(ESS). Methods One hundred and twenty inpatients with severe pulmonary tuberculosis and ESS were randomly divided into treatment group and control group by gender, age, disease duration and severity. Both groups were given anti- tuberculosis, antiinfection treatment and nutritional support for 2 weeks; patients in treatment group were given low-dose levothyroxine sodium additionally. Thyroid function, clinical improvements, increase of albumin, reduction of acid-fast bacilli, improvements on images and the mortality rates were compared between the groups.Results After 2 weeks of treatment, symptoms including fever, cough and night sweats were improved in both groups. Marked improvements were observed in 19 patients(31.7%)of treatment group and 8 patients (13.3%)of control group(χ2 = 5. 73, P ＜ 0.05). Clearance rate of acid-fast bacilli in treatment group was 25.0%(15/60), but that in the control was only 6.7%(4/60)(χ2 = 7. 50, P ＜ 0.01). Serum albumin in the treatment group was increased to(34.2 ±0.4)g/L after the treatment, and that in the control group was(29.1 ±0.6)g/L(t =2.42, P＜0.05). T3 and FT3 were significantly increased in both groups, but more significant difference was observed in the treatment group(t = 59. 42 and 50. 66, P ＜ 0. 01). No empty closed after treatment in both groups, but the effective rate in treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(93.3% vs. 76.7%, χ2 =6. 54, P＜0.05). Two patients in control group died(2/60, 3. 3%), while no death was reported in treatment group. Conclusions Low-dose levothyroxine sodium treatment is effective for ESS in patients with severe pulmonary tuberculosis.Improvement on low T3 syndrome may be an important indicator for the overall improvement or recovery.

OBJECTIVETo compare and classify the samples of Angelica sinensis from 36 different areas in Gansu province.

METHODThe HPLC was used to detect samples, and the computer aided similarity evaluation was used to analyze the fingerprints. Similarity combined with principal component analysis (PCA) and multidimensional pattern recognition of Euclidean distance were used to compare and classify the samples of A. sinensis in different areas.

RESULTIt was found that the quality of A. sinensis is closely related to the growth environment.

CONCLUSIONThis method could be used to classify the samples of A. sinensis from a variety of sources.
