Objective To study the activity and participation status of patients with spinal cord injury or traumatic brain injury. Methods From 2013 to 2016, 60 patients with spinal cord injury and 38 patients with traumatic brain injury were assessed with WHO Disability As-sessment Schedule 2.0 (WHO-DAS 2.0) (International Chinese Version of fully structured interviewer administered 36 questions). Results The patients with traumatic brain injury had moderate dysfunction in domains of cognition and getting along with people, and severe dys-function in other domains. The patients with spinal cord injury had mild dysfunction in domain of cognition, moderate dysfunction in do-mains of self-care and getting along with people, and severe dysfunction in other domains. The dysfunction was severer in domains of cogni-tion and self-care in the patients with traumatic brain injury than in the patients with spinal cord injury (t>2.140, P<0.05). Conclusion The inpatients with spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury are difficult in mobility, self-care, getting along with people, life activities and participation.

Objective To analyze the coverage of iodized salt and the focus population iodine nutrition after implementing new standard of iodized salt in Hainan Province.Methods Eighteen cities (counties,districts) were divided into eastern coastal,western coastal and inland areas according to coastline and terrain of Hainan Province in 2013.One township (town,street) was sampled from each city (county,district) in the east,the west,the south,the north and the center of these areas.Four villages (committees) and 15 households in each village (committee),and 40 children aged 8-10 in one primary school,20 pregnant women and lactating women were sampled from each township (town,street).Iodized salt samples collected from household were monitored by the method of direct titration;random urine samples of children aged 8-10,pregnant woman and lactating woman were tested by arsenic cerium catalytic spectrophotometry.Results Totally 6 310 edible salt samples were tested,and the median of salt iodine was 25.9 mg/kg.The coverage of iodized salt was 97.92％ (6 179/6 310).Residents consumption rate of qualified iodized salt reached 95.47％ (6 024/6 310),and the rate of non-iodized salt was 2.08％ (131/6 310).About 4 444 urine samples of children aged 8-10 were examined,and the median of urinary iodine was 165.4 μg/L,in which suitable urinary iodine (100-199 μg/L) accounted 49.3％ (2 194/4 444);about 1 286 urine samples of lactating woman were examined,the median of urinary iodine was 122.3 μg/L,≥ 100 μg/L was 60.6％ (779/1 286);about 813 urine samples of pregnant woman were examined,the median of urinary iodine was 126.6 μg/L,59.6％ (485/ 813) of this group were urinary iodine deficiency (＜ 150 μg/L).There were significant differences between the three groups in the east,the middle and the west areas of Hainan Province (children:176.7,147.7,158.0 μg/L,lactating women:148.7,108.7,106.7 μg/L,pregnant women:146.7,108.0,147.1 μg/L,H =34.70,26.76,35.95,all P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion The results have showed that pregnant woman are iodine deficiency,they should be given more iodine.

Aim To study the effects of D-galactose o n bone of rats. Methods Forty-two Sprague-Dawley rats at age of 3 months with half female and half male were divided into five groups randoml y, basal, OVX or ORX , D-galactose at dose of 50 mg?kg -1?d -1 (L), D-galactose at dose of 100 mg?kg -1?d -1 (M), galactose a t dose of 200 mg?kg -1?d -1 (H).The former two groups were SC inject ed physiological saline and the latter three groups were injected three differen t doses of D-galactose respectively. Two months later the rats were killed by setting blood free from hearts, then the left thighbones and tibias were take n. The tibias were cut at 8 ?m sections for static and dynamic bone histomorph ometric analyses. The thighbones were dried and weighed. All rats were given sc injections of tetracycline 25 mg?kg -1 (first fluorochrome bone marker) on 14 and d 13,and calcein 10 mg?kg -1(second fluorochrome bone marker) on 4 and d 3 before sacrifice. The testicles and the ovaries were taken and made the paraffin slices for observing the microstructure under the microscope. Results D-galactose had no effects on bone of female rats, but can made male rats lose bone significantly and the rats appeared osteoporosis. The static parameters in three different dose male rats bone which relate to bone ma ss %Tb. Ar decreased 53.5%,53.5%,46.6% respectively, Tb.N decreased 42.9%,4 7.6%,38.1% respectively, TB.Sp increased 85%,150%,67.3% respectivly. The dynamic parameters which relate to bone formation %L. Pm decreased 24.1% 89.1% , 65.5% respectively. The convoluted suminiferous tubule disordered, lumens dil ated, and basal membrane disintegrated. Conclusion D-galac tose had different effects on bone of different gender rats. There is no effect on female bone, but it can induce the male rats osteoporosis. The mechanism of D-galactose on bone was probably due to the different effects on gonad glan ds.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of autologous peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) transplantation in 26 cases of diabetic foot.Methods From 2003-11 to 2004-07,26 patients with diabetic foot received rhG-CSF 450~600ug/d by hypodermic injection for 5 days to mobilize stem cells.On the sixth day,PBSC were collected by COBE 6.1 Spectra Version for 82~148ml.The PBSC were injected into the ischemic lower limbs and foot intramuscularly for 3?3 cm distance.The clinical and laboratory findings were monitored.Results In 26 patients receiving PBSC transplantation,obvious pain-relief was shown in 23 cases for 3~14 days,foot cold-feeling changed in 24 patients after 2~7 days,foot ulcer improved in 4 cases after 4~12 weeks.ABI increased in 6 cases.Digital subtraction angiographic scores were peformed in 2 patients after 8 weeks,and there was new collateral vessels formation.No related complication or adverse effects were observed in all process.Conclusion Autologous PBSC transplantation might be a safe and effctive method for diabetic foot.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and interrelated factors of autologous peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) transplantation in the treatment of arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO) of the lower extremity. Methodes A total of 26 patients with ASO of the lower limb received rhG-CSF 450-600?g/d by hypodermic injection for 5 days to mobilize stem cells. On the sixth day, PBSC were collected by COBE 6.1 Spectra Version with a total amount of 82-118ml, with the number of mononuclear cells (MNC) (718.2-224.6)?10 9 /L. The MNC were injected intramuscularly into the ischemic limbs with intervals of 3cm apart. The clinical and laboratory findings were monitored. Results In 23 out of 26, pain was relieved after 3-21 days (88.5%), in 24 patients coldness was ameliorated after 2-28 days (92.3%), in 4 patients foot ulcers were better after 4-12 weeks. ABI increased in 6 cases. The total effective rate was 92.3%. No complication or adverse effect was observed in all the patients. Conclusion Autologous PBSC transplantation might be a safe and effective method for ASO of the lower limb ASO.

Objective To obtain the most effective preventive management for corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis by the evidence-based medicine approach.Methods We attempted to find the current best evidence for the prevention of corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis by searching ACP Journal Club(1991-Sep.2005),USA Agency for Healthcare and Research evidence report,Cochrane Library(Issue3,2005)and MEDLINE(1990-Sep.2005),and further critically appraised the available evidence.Results We found that VitD or its analogues with calcium and bisphosphonates could improve bone mineral density significantly.But the effects on reducing the development of fracture were not concluded.Conclusion VitD or its analogues with calcium can be the preferential method as prevention for corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis,while bisphosphonates may be an alternative way.
