Accurate diagnosis of stenosis degree,disease nature,and disease extent play a key role in treating coronary artery stenosis by using coronary artery stent implantation.The optimal scheme for coronary artery stent implantation would decrease the restenosis rate and elevate therapeutic efficacy following stent implantation.Intravascular unltrasound can real-time display the stenosis degree,intravascular plaque and mucosa pathological changes accurately,in addition,it can represent the expansion and supporting status of stent.It demonstrated that application of intravascular unltrasound exhibit superior ability to display blood vessel pathological changes than coronary arteriongraphy,which plays a vital role in guiding stent selection,evaluating stent releasing,as well as preventing blood vessel from restenosis.

The survey of a large-scale water iodine had been carried out in the 1980 s in China,and the map of iodine content in drinking water of China was drawn.Endemic goitre was prevalent in all the provinces of China except Shanghai.It was found in the surveillances of 2002 and 2011 that the people's iodine nutrition level was enhanced in the areas of media water iodine 50-＜ 100 μg/L,pregnant and breastfeeding women's iodine nutrition level was appropriate,but the children's had reached or closed to excess.The areas of median water iodine 50 ～ ＜ 100 μg/L may be considered as adequate iodine areas preliminarily,at the same time the people's iodine nutrition level also need to be considered.

With the improvement of people's consciousness on health and the increasing number of thyroid disease,the demand for individual evaluation on iodine nutrition is increasing.Strict iodine nutrition evaluation indexes include dietary iodine intake,serum iodine,thyroid iodine content,urinary iodine,and milk iodine.Generalized iodine nutrition evaluation indexes also include goiter,thyroid function,thyroid globulin,intelligence and so on.Thyroid function,serum iodine,urinary iodine,and food frequency questionnaire for individual iodine nutrition evaluation have advantages and disadvantages.The appropriate individual iodine nutritional evaluation method and the normal reference range need to be put forward.

Objective To explore the issues of everyday expenses list used in the cadre wards and find out countermeasures for the purpose of reducing medical disputes and improving the patients’satisfaction.Method Seventy-four patients admitted in our department from July to September 2012 were set as control group,where an investigation was conducted to find out the issues in the practical use of every expenses list and corresponding measures were worked out and used in observation group,which included 78 patients admitted in the department from October to December 2012.The two groups were compared in terms of self-paid articles, re-recording of missed expenses,failure to timely refunding,charging by other means,disagreement on curative nursing items and unclear items for charging.Result The observation group was significantly better than the control in self-paid articles,re-recording of missed expenses and failure to timely refunding(all P<0.05).Conclusions There are some issues in the use of everyday expenses list in the cadre wards.We should take corresponding countermeasures to ensure the interests of the hospital and the patients and the enhanced degree of patients’comfort.

Kidney theory is an important figure in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), it proposes that the kidney is the root of life, in which stores congenital essence and energy of human body that promotes reproduction, growth and development. The facts that body development begins from oosperm have long been elucidated in modern medicine and life science. Furthermore, oosperm is a totipotent stem cell. The totipotent stem cell with its derived embryonic stem cell (ESC) and stem cell constitute the source of growth, development and tissue regeneration. It is rational to comprehend ESC by means of the Kidney theory of TCM, investigate the effect of Kidney-nourishing on the activities of ESC, such as proliferation, aging and apoptosis, and on its related genes regarding transcription, expression and functional regulation. Our works have suggested that classical Kidney-yin-nourishing herb formula Zuo-gui-wan could inhibit the ESC differentiation and apoptosis, stimulate proliferation, and promote the process of cell cycle. These observations coincide with up-regulate expression of Wnt and Oct3/4, and down-regulate expression of P16INK4a. At the same time, classical Kidney-yang-nourishing herb formula You-gui-wan could inhibit ESC apoptosis induced by H2O2, up-regulate Notch expression and down-regulate P16INK4a expression. In addition, there have been some evidences indicated Kidney-nourishing could promote mesenchymal stem cells proliferate. These observations strongly suggest that, Kidney theory of TCM, as the root of the life, is associated with ESC and stem cell; it may provide insight into Kidney theory of TCM and stem cell research.

Cell senescence is an important anti-cancer mechanism and may contribute to cancer therapeutic outcome. The present study observed the effects of Tenglong Buzhong Decoction (TLBZD), a Chinese herbal formula, on senescence in human colon carcinoma LS-174-T cells.

Objective To detect water iodine content,urinary iodine content and thyroid volume of children aged 6-12 in high water-iodine areas and to explore the relationship between thyroid volume and the three factors (water iodine content,urinary iodine content and age).Methods In July 2011 to March 2012,four provinces of Shandong,Shanxi,Henan and Hebei were investigated,and water iodine content were divided into 4 levels,which were 50-99,100-149,150-299,and ≥300 μg/L,respectively.For each water iodine content level,three villages were analyzed.School children aged 6-12 were recruited,family salt iodine was determined to exclude those children who had intaken iodized salt.After that,water iodine content,urinary iodine content and thyroid volume of children were measured.Finally,relationships between thyroid volume and water iodine content,urinary iodine content and age were analyzed.Salt iodine was detected by semi-quantitative method;urinary iodine was detected by arsenic cerium catalytic spectrophotometry;thyroid volume was detected by B-scan ultrasonography.Results The medians of thyroid volume in each age group from 6 to 12 years were 2.00,2.21,2.54,2.94,3.30,3.44,and 3.72 ml,respectively;the medians of urinary iodine content in each age group were 252.3,319.4,345.2,350.9,371.2,384.4,and 409.6 μg/L,respectively.Under the condition of water iodine content ＞ 100 μg/L,the median of urinary iodine content of children aged 6 in 100-149 μg/L water iodine content group was 274.0 μg/L,while other groups with different ages got the median of urinary iodine content more than 300 μg/L.Water iodine content,urinary iodine content and age were all positively correlated with thyroid volume (r =0.154,0.148,0.381,all P ＜ 0.01).In addition,water iodine content and urinary iodine content were positively correlated (r =0.399,P ＜ 0.05).With the same water iodine content level,the urinary iodine content and thyroid volume showed a significant dispersion with increasing age,which meant different individual responses to higher iodine.Conclusions In higher water-iodine areas,the iodine level of children is excessive,although they have intaken non-iodized salt.Furthermore,thyroid volume is associated with water iodine content,urinary iodine content and age.

Objective: To observe the effects of Tenglong Buzhong Decoction (TLBZD), a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine, on proliferation and apoptosis of colon carcinoma cell line LS174T in vitro. Methods: Human colon carcinoma cell line LS174T and human colon epithelial cell line CRL-1790 were treated with different doses of TLBZD. Cell proliferation was detected with cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and clone formation assay. Cell cycle and apoptosis were detected by flow cytometry, and caspase-3, -8 and -9 activities in LS174T cells were detected by colorimetric assay. Results: TLBZD had no obvious cytotoxicity in normal CRL-1790 cells. After 72-hour treatment of 1 mg/mL TLBZD, or 48- and 72-hour of 2 mg/mL TLBZD, or 24-, 48- and 72-hour of 5-20 mg/mL TLBZD, proliferation of LS174T cells was significantly inhibited. Clone formation of LS174T cells was significantly inhibited by 1 to 20 mg/mL TLBZD treatment. TLBZD at doses of 5 to 20 mg/mL also induced apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at G(0)/G(1) phase in LS174T cells. In addition, caspase-3, -8 and -9 activities were significantly elevated after 5 to 20 mg/mL TLBZD treatment. Conclusion: TLBZD can inhibit cell proliferation, arrest cell cycle at G(0)/G(1) phase, and induce apoptosis in LS174T cells, which may be related to activating of caspase-3, -8 and -9.

Objective To induce the site-directed mutation of human cardiac troponin I (cTnI) gene, express the mutant in E. coli, and to study the effects of the mutation on the prokaryotic expression of cTnI. Methods The cDNA encoding cTnI was cloned with RT-PCR from the total RNA extracted from human myocardium tissues. A pair of primers was designed and, after the mutations were induced at the second and the fourth codons, inserted into prokaryotic vector pET-28c (+) and transform the recombinant to BL21 (DE3) bacteria. After purified with Ni-NTA resin, the histidine-tagged fusion protein expressed by IPTG-induced was identified by Western blotting and the expression yield of cTnI protein was investigated. Results The expression of the recombinant carrying processed cTnI cDNA was stronger than that in control group. Conclusion cDNA encoding cTnI was successfully cloned. The recombinant with mutations can be more efficient expressed in E. coli. The cTnI protein can be purified to near homogeneity.
