Objective To evaluate the effects of irregular hepatectomy combined with chemotherapy by placing pump inside hepatic artery on the postoperative recurrence rate and the postoperative survival rate. Methods The clinical data of 66 cases of hepatic cancer treated in the last 15 years were reviewed. 48 cases out of 66 cases were treated with simple hepatectomy and 18 cases with hepatectomy combined with chemotherapy by placing pump inside hepatic artery. Results There was a significant diference in the 1 year or 3 years or 5 years recurrence rate which were 66.7% to 38.9%, 85.4% to 55.6%, 93.8% to 72.2%, respectively in simple hepatectomy group and operation-chemotherapy group ( P

Objective To observe the effects of solanine on DNA and RNA level in tumor cell of S_(180) and H_(22) tumor-bearing mice.Methods S_(180) and H_(22) mice were divided into solanine(37.50、18.75,and(9.37) mg/kg) groups,negative control group and cytoxan(30 mg/kg) group,whom were given drugs by sc.Levels of RNA and DNA in tumor cell membrane in every groups were examined,respectively by laser scanning confocal microtechnic technology.Results Solanine(37.50、18.75 mg/kg) groups reduced the ratio of RNA and DNA in tumor cell of both S_(180) and H_(22) mice.Conclusion Solanine can reduce the ratio of RNA and DNA in tumor cell of S_(180) and H_(22) mice,which may be one of the mechanisms of solanine's(antitumor) effect.

Objective To study the effect of erythropoietin（EPO） on PI3-K/Akt signal pathway of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury（I/R） in immature rabbits. Methods Thirty immature rabbits were randomly divided into two groups （n = 15/greup ）, The rabbits were intraperi- toneally injected with 2 ml of normal saline in control group, or 5 000 U/kg of EPO in treated group 24 h before I/R. The Langendorff isolat- ed perfused heart model was established, and the myocardial expression of PI3K, AKT and Caspase 9 were examined by immunohistochem- istry in 2 h after repeffusion. To monitor the myocardial apoptosis,we performed TUNEL in 2 h after reperfusion. Results The expression of myocardial PI3K and AKT in EPO group was significantly higher in EPO-treated group than those in control group. In EPO-treated group, the expression of myocardial caspase 9 was significantly lower than that in control group. The average optical density of myocardial PI3K, AKT and caspase 9 were significantly different between both groups （P 〈 0.01 ）.The number of apoptotic cell was significantly fewer in EPO- treated group than that in control group. The myocardial apoptosis index （AI）was significantly different between two groups （P 〈 0.01 ）. Conclusion EPO pretreatment can influence the PI3-K/Akt signal pathway and decrease the myocardial apoptosis,and significantly reduce the myocardial ischemia-reperfusion（I/R） injury in immature rabbits.

Background: The prevalence of ulcerative colitis (UC) in China has significantly increased in recent years,and Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) may be closely related to the development of UC.Aims: To study the effect of vitamin D3 on expression of TLR4 in the intestinal mucosa in colitis model in rats.Methods: Thirty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into normal control group,model group and vitamin D3 group.Rats in model group and vitamin D3 group were given trinitro-benzene-sulfonic acid (TNBS) to induce colitis model.Rats in vitamin D3 group were given vitamin D3.HE staining was performed,and disease activity index (DAI) and colon histopathological score were evaluated,the expression of TLR4 was measured by immunohistochemistry.Results: Compared with normal control group,DAI and histopathological score in model group were significantly increased (P＜0.05),and expression of TLR4 was significantly increased (P＜0.05).After giving vitamin D3,DAI and histopathological score were significantly decreased (P＜0.05),and expression of TLR4 was significantly decreased (P＜0.05).Conclusions: The expression of TLR4 is increased in colon tissue in colitis model in rats,which may be involved in the pathogenesis of UC.Vitamin D3 can alleviate intestinal inflammation via inhibiting expression of TLR4,thereby playing a role in the adjunctive therapy of UC.

Objective To explore the correlation between delirium and dementia in elderly patients undergoing hip fracture surgery.Methods A prospective study was conducted on 118 elderly patients with hip fracture who were free from prefracture dementia.Caregivers or the relatives described the patients' prefracture cognition by the Informant Questionnaire on Cognitive Decline in the Elderly-short form (IQCODE SF).Delirium was assessed by the Confusion Assessment Method (CAM).After 6 months,cognition was reassessed by using 5 cognitive tests,taking DSM-Ⅳ as the diagnostic criteria.Results Among 32 cases (27％) suffered from delirium in the acute phase,12 cases (38％) reached to the diagnostic criteria of dementia after 6 months follow up,while there were 6 cases (7％) reached to the diagnostic criteria of dementia after 6 months follow-up in the group without delirium in the acute phase (x2 =16.81,P＜0.001).IQCODE-SF score had no statistically significant difference in the prediction of dementia.Conclusions In elderly patients without the history of dementia,delirium after hip fracture surgery is the major predictor of dementia within half years.

OBJECTIVE:To prepare mesopocous molecular sieve SBA-15 surface molecularly imprinted polymer (SBA-15@MIP),and analyze the application of SBA-15@MIP in the determination of active micro-component. METHODS:Using baica-lein as the template molecule,acrylamide(AM)as the function monomer,tetrahydrofuran/ethanol(3∶2,V/V)as the polymeriza-tion solvent,ethylene glycol dimethacrylate(EGDMA)as the cross-linker,and 2,2-azobisisobutyronitrile(AIBN)as the initiator, SBA-15@MIP was synthesized on the surface of mesopocous molecular sieve SBA-15. The surface morphology and structure of the obtained polymer were characterized by TEM and FT-IR. Finally,the imprinted polymer was used as an adsorbent for solid-phase extraction (SPE) to detect baicalein in plasma samples by HPLC. RESULTS:It revealed that the well-ordered one-dimensional pore structure of SBA-15 was still preserved in the successful synthesized SBA-15@MIP,and baicalein molecule was imprinted suc-cessfully. The limit of detection(LOD)and limit of quantification(LOQ)for baicalein in plasma were 3.5 ng/ml and 11.6 ng/ml, respectively;the average recovery was 94.4%(RSD=2.9%). CONCLUSIONS:SBA-15@MIP is prepared successfully,and can be applied for the determination of active micro-component.

Objectives To analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics of gastric submucosal tumors (GSMTs), and evaluate the safety and efficacy of endoscopic treatment for GSMTs. Methods 61 patients with GSMTs were selected from June 2014 to September 2012 by endoscopy and ultrasonography;they were all treated by endoscopic therapy; pathological examination was took in all removed tumors, the tumors which could be the gastric stromal tumor were furtherly examined by molecular biology technique of immunohistochemistry. Result In 61 cas-es, 39 cases are female patients, accounting for 63.93%;the tumors located at the stomach fund accounted for 52.46%(32/61), at the gastric corpus for 21.31%(13/61), at the gastric antrum for 11.48 %(7/61), at cardia for 14.75%(9/61); 10 cases were treated by Endoscopic submucosal dissection, 21 by endoscopic submucosal excavation, 27 by Endoscopic full-thickness resection, 3 by Submucosal tunnelling endoscopic resection; in all 61 cases, 2 were changed to laparoscopic treatment because one tumor was too big and broke the Serous and another was located at mucus Lake of gastric fund, 1 occurred postoperative bleeding and was treated by laparoscopy successfully, 1 oc-curred postoperative perforation and was treated by endoscopy successfully; after pathological and immunohisto-chemical analysis, 34 tumors were identified as gastric stromal tumor and all of them in risk classification were at very low risk, 11 were leiomyoma, 5 were lipoma, 3 were heterotopic pancreas, 5 were calcifying fibrous pseudotu-mor, 2 were inflammatory fibroid polyps, and 1 was angiomatous proliferation; gastric stromal tumor at gastric fundus account for 73.53 % (25/34), at gastric corpus for 11.76 % (4/34), at gastric antrum for 5.88 % (2/34) and at cardia for 8.82 %(3/34). Conclusion Most GSMTs are found in female and commonly lack of specific clinical symptoms;GMSTs are commonly located at gastric fund and most of them are gastric stromal tumors, vast majority of gastric stromal tumors in the risk classification are at very low risk;the endoscopic resection is a mini-invasive, safe and ef-fective treatment for GSMTs.

Objective To explore the significance of using cytologic and RT-PCR methods to examine(peritoneal) washings and peritoneal tissues of gastric cancer patients in prediction of peritoneal micrometastasis.Methods The peritoneal washings of 38 patients with gastric cancer and 5 patients with benign gastric(lesions) were collected and,at the same time,a small amount of omentum and peritoneum were removed for control.CEAmRNA expression of free cells in peritoneal washings were detected by RT-PCR method and(also) cytology of the washings were performed.Results The CEAmRNA expression rate of peritoneal washings and peritoneal tissues were 36.8%(14/38) and 39.5%(15/38)respectively.Both were more(sensitive) than that of cytologic examination 26.3%(10/38).TNM staging,depth of invasion,lymph node metastasis,and serosal involvement were related to the expression rate of CEAmRNA.Conclusions mRNA of CEA is more sensitive and specific than cytologic examination for detecting free cancer cells in peritoneal cavity.It is an effective method for detecting peritoneal micrometastases in gastric cancer patient.

Objective To investigate the androgen-like effects of Cordyceps sinensis (CS) and its impact on the radiosensitivity of VCaP prostate cancer cells.Methods The hormone levels and weight index of reproductive organs in mice were determined after gavage with CS.Clonogenic assay was performed to determine the impact of CS on the radiosensitivity of VCaP cells.The 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5 (3-carboxymethonyphenol)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium assay,flow cytometry,and tumor xenografts in nude mice were performed to determine the effects of CS on the proliferation of VCaP cells (androgen receptor-positive) and PC-3 cells (androgen receptor-negative) in vitro and in vivo.Serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in nude mice were evaluated.Data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance or ttest.Results The testosterone level and weight of prostate in mice were significantly higher in the CS group than in the control group ((8.28± 1.94) vs.(2.08± 1.24) ng/ml,P=0.023;(0.53±0.04) vs.(0.31 ± 0.04) mg/g,P =0.006).The radiosensitivity enhancement ratio (ratio of D0 values) was 0.80.The viability of VCaP cells was significantly higher in the CS group than in the control group (1.32 ± 0.07 vs.0.66 ±0.02,P=0.000),and colony forming efficiency was significantly enhanced in the CS group than in the control group (57.0％ ± 1.9％ vs.47.0％ ± 0.6％,P =0.005).VCaP tumor xenografts in nude mice were inclined to grow faster in the CS group than in the control group,and the serum PSA level in the CS group was significantly higher than that in the control group ((0.66 ± 0.04) vs.(0.26 ±0.06) ng/ml,P =0.000).However,CS had no effect on PC-3 cells at the working concentration.Conclusions CS has the androgen-like effects.It may also promote the proliferation and reduce the radiosensitivity of androgen receptor-positive VCaP cells.
