Aim To investigate the protective effect of cinnamic aldehyde ( CA ) on hormone-induced osteo-clasts proliferation and bone resorption in vitro and its molecular mechanisms. Methods RAW264. 7 cells induced into osteoclast were treated with RANKL and M-CSF and then were divided into control group, dexa-methasone ( DEX ) group and different doses of CA (11. 6, 23. 2, 46. 4 μg·L-1 ) groups. OCs were ob-served after tartrate resistant acid phosphatase( TRAP) staining. The cell proliferation was determined by MTT assay at different time points. The expression levels of TRACP5 b in cell cultured supernatants were measured by ELISA. RT-PCR technique was applied to examine the transcriptional levels of RANK and NFATc1 . Re-sults In MTT assay, the proliferation of osteoclasts stimulated by dexamethasone was promoted seriously compared with negative control group ( P < 0. 05 ) . Meanwhile, DEX could strengthen the content of TRACP5 b and up-regulate the expressions of RANK and NFATc1 mRNA. After administration of CA, the proliferation was inhibited, while the enhanced expres-sion of TRAP5b was reversed, and the over-expressions of RANK and NFATc1 mRNA were obviously down-regulated in a time-and-dose-dependent manner ( P <0. 05 ) . Conclusion The results suggest that CA in-hibits proliferation and bone resorption of osteoclast in-duced by DEX, which may be mediated by down-regu-lation of RANK and NFATc1 mRNA.

Objective To compare postoperative three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) and conventional radiotherapy (CR) in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods From Nov. 2002 to Mar. 2006,162 patients with stage ⅠB~ⅢB NSCLC receiving postoperative radiotherapy in our department were restrospetcively analyzed. Among them,86 received 3DCRT and 76 re-ceived CR. The survival outcome, pattern of failure and treatment-related side effects in both groups were an-alyzed. Results The median follow-up was 29.4 months in the 3DCRT group and 24 months in the CR group. The 1-,2- and 3-year local-regional free survival was 97.5% ,83.2% and 83.2% in 3DCRT group, and 84.3% ,76.0% and 65.6% in CR group(χ2= 5.46, P = 0.019), respectively. No statistically signifi-cant difference was found in the overall survival, disease-free survival or distant metastasis-free survival be-tween the two groups. The local-regional failure rate was statistically different between the two groups (14.5% vs 33.3% ,χ2 =7.70,P =0.006). The incidence of distant metastasis in the two groups was simi-lar. Radiation pneumonitis of NCI CTC grade 2-3 occurred in 10 patients(11.6%)in 3DCRT group and 18 (23.7%) in CR group, which was statistically different(χ2 =4.10,P=0.043). Conclusions Postopera-tive 3DCRT for NSCLC provides a better local-regional control and lower incidence of radiation pneumonitis compared with CR.

Objective:
To investigate knowledge, attitude and behavior related to tuberculosis prevention among primary and elementary school students in Heilongjiang province, and to provide evidence for school-based tuberculosis prevention and control.
Methods:
A cross-sectional survey method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 3 033 middle and elementary school students in 10 counties (districts) of Heilongjiang province, including knowledge, attitudes and behaviors related to tuberculosis prevention and treatment.
Results:
In the survey, 61.5% of the students understand the core information of tuberculosis. The core knowledge awareness rate was higher in primary school students (64.8%) than in middle school students(58.1%)(χ2=85.41,P<0.05). Primary and middle school students indicated that the attitude-taking rate of concerns about the tuberculosis patients was 47.5%. Primary school students had more general attitude than middle school students towards willingness to participate in publicity activities compared with primary school students(χ2=39.26,P<0.05). About 85% of students reported personal hygiene habits. The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that tuberculosis-related knowledge was mainly associated with factors including urban and rural, parental education, health education courses in school(P<0.05).
Conclusion
There is a gap in tuberculosis-related knowledge among primary and middle school students between Heilongjiang province and national level. There’s a need for the improvement of tuberculosis control programs to inform a better understanding and social dissemination of TB information.

Lung cancer displays the highest morbidity and mortality worldwide. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most com-mon type of lung cancer. In-depth research was performed on the pathogenesis and biological behavior of lung cancer and the im-provement of genetic testing level. The discovery of drugs targeting epidermal growth factor receptor and anaplastic lymphoma kinase plays a significant role in individual treatment of advanced NSCLC. BIM is a protein in the Bcl-2 family that promotes apoptosis, which leads to cell death. The BIM expression level and polymorphism can influence the therapeutic effect of targeted therapy and chemo-therapy on advanced NSCLC. Therefore, this review summarizes BIM and its effects on targeted therapy and chemotherapy for ad-vanced NSCLC.
