Objective To evaluate the possible correlation between anxiety state and serum angiontensin Ⅱ levels in patients with vitiligo. Methods Sixty patients with progressive vitiligo and 30 normal human controls were included in this study.Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) was used to evaluate the anxiety state, and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay was performed to determine the serum level of angiontensin Ⅱ,in these subjects. Results SAS score was significantly increased in patients compared with the controls (46.13 ±11.72 vs.36.73 ± 12.59,t =3.50,P < 0.01),and 48.3% of the patients were affected by anxiety. The SAS score and prevalence of anxiety were statistically higher in female than in male patients (t =2.47,x2 =4.58,both P < 0.05),in unmarried than in married patients (t =2.59,P < 0.01; x2 =6.17,P < 0.05),in patients with lesions on exposed areas than in those with lesions on unexposed areas (t =3.60,P < 0.01; x2 =5.84,P <0.05).In patients affected by anxiety, the level of serum angiontensin Ⅱ was significantly elevated compared with patients without anxiety (63.83 ± 10.92 vs.40.74 ± 8.70 ng/L,t =9.09,P < 0.01 ).Conclusions Patients with vitiligo are usually affected by anxiety. The serum level of angiontensin Ⅱ is closely correlated with anxiety state in patients with vitiligo as well as with the development of vitiligo, and may have an impact on the initiation and progression of vitiligo.

Background and purpose:The membrane cytoskeletal crosslinker—Ezrin may be involved in several functions including cell adhesion, motility and cell survival. There is increasing evidence that it regulates tumor progression. However, the role of Ezrin in the carcinogenesis, progression and metastasis of primary sporadic colorectal carcinoma is still under investigation. This research is to study the expression, the localization and the clinical significance of Ezrin in human sporadic colorectal carcinoma(SCRC).Methods:Immunohistological EnVision staining was used to detect the expression of Ezrin in 132 cases of human sporadic colorectal carcinoma and 43 adjacent normal colorectal mucosa, and the different expressions of Ezrin among metastatic and non-metastatic SCRC,including 74 metastatic cases and 58 non-metastatic cases were also under investigation.Results:① The expression rate of Ezrin in SCRC was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal colorectal mucosa(79.5% Vs 11.6%,P

Objective To analyze Candida species causing vulvovaginal candidiasis in Qingdao and surrounding areas. Methods Vaginal discharge specimens were collected from 362 patients with suspected vulvovaginal candidiasis in the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College from May 2011 to November 2011,and subjected to routine fungal culture. The Candida isolates were identified by using Sabouraud dextrose agar,CHROMagar medium, germ tube test with serum, and API 20C AUX Clinical Yeast System. Results Totally,313 (86.46%) Candida strains were isolated from the specimens of 362 patients.Of these Candida strains,275 were identified as Candida albicans,38 as non-albicans Candida species, including 13 Candida glabrata strains,8 Candida parapsilosis strains,7 Candida tropicalis strains,5 Candida krusei strains,1 Candida lusitaniae strain,1 Candida dubliniensis strain,1 Rhodotorula mucilaginosa strain,1 Pichia ohmeri strain and 1 Trichosporon mucoides strain. Conclusions As far as vulvovaginal candidiasis is concerned,Candida albicans is still the most prevalent pathogen, and Candida glabrata appears to be the predominant species in pathogenic non-albicans Candida species.

Objective:To analyze locoregional recurrence (LRR) pattern of patients with pT 1-2N 1 breast cancer after modified radical mastectomy, with and without adjuvant radiotherapy (RT). Methods:A total of 5442 eligible patients with breast cancer from 12 Chinese centers were included. The LRR sites and the effect of RT at different sites on recurrence in patients with and without RT were analyzed. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate the cumulative LRR rate, and the difference was compared by the log-rank test. Results:With a median follow-up time of 63.8 months for the entire cohort, 395 patients developed LRR. The chest wall and supraclavicular fossa were the most common LRR sites, regardless of RT or molecular subtypes. The 5-year chest wall recurrence rates for patients with and without chest wall irradiation were 2.5% and 3.8%( P=0.003); the 5-year supraclavicular lymph nodal recurrence rates for patients with and without supraclavicular fossa irradiation were 1.3% and 4.1%( P<0.001); the 5-year axillary recurrence-free rates for patients with and without axillary irradiation were 0.8% and 1.5%( HR=0.31, 95% CI: 0.04-2.23, P=0.219); and the 5-year internal mammary nodal recurrence-free rates for patients with and without internal mammary nodal irradiation were 0.8% and 1.5%( HR=0.45, 95% CI: 0.11-1.90, P=0.268). Conclusions:The chest wall and supraclavicular fossa are the most common LRR sites of patients with pT 1-2N 1 breast cancer after modified radical mastectomy, which is not affected by adjuvant RT or molecular subtypes. The chest wall and supraclavicular fossa irradiation significantly reduce the risk of recurrence in the corresponding area. However, axillary and internal mammary nodal irradiation has no impact on the risk of recurrence in the corresponding area.
