Objective To discuss the clinical effects of locking proximal humerus plate (LPHP)for humeral proximal fractures in elderly patients. Methods A total of 84 elderly patients with humeral proximal fractures were retrospectively analyzed.Patients were randomly divided into LPHP group and control group (n=42,each group).Patients in LPHP group were treated with open reduction and internal fixation using LPHP.Patients in control group were treated with open reduction and Kirschner wire fixation. All patients were followed up for 1 year and the shoulder joint function was evaluated. Results There were no significant differences in bleeding volume and the wound healing time between LPHP group and control group [(189.2±27.5) ml vs.(177.6±28.2) ml,(102.3±6.2) days vs.(99.9±6.8) days,t=1.78,1.33,P=0.079,0.105,respectively].One year after the follow-up,there were 22 cases (52.4%,22/42) with excellent clinical evaluation,18 cases (42.9%,18/42) with good clinical evaluation and 2 cases (4.8%,2/42) with poor clinical evaluation in LPHP group, and 15 cases (35.7%,15/42) with excellent clinical evaluation,22 cases (52.4%,22/42) with good clinical evaluation, and 5 cases (11.9%,5/42) with poor clinical evaluation in control group. There was a significant difference in the evaluation rate of excellent and good clinical efficacy between in LPHP group and in control group (95.2 % vs.88.1 %,x2 =3.18,P 0.028).Conclusions The internal fixation using LPHP has a good clinical effect in elderly patients with humeral proximal fractures, and it can well improve the recovery of shoulder joint function.

Objective To explore effect of vidarabine monophosphate combined with astragalus injection on serum cardiac troponin I ( cTnI), interleukin 1β(IL-1β), interleukin-10 (IL-10) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in children with hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Methods 60 cases with hand-foot-and-mouth disease from March 2013 to March 2015 in the hospital were selected and divided into two groups treated by different therapy, 30 cases in each group. The control group received conventional treatment + ribavirin injection, and experimental group received vidarabine monophosphate combined with astragalus injection on the basis of conventional treatment, one time per day.All patients were treated for a course of 7 days. The serum cTnI,IL-1β,IL-10 and TNF-αlevels were compared before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the serum cTnI, IL-1β, IL-10 and TNF-αlevels in two groups decreased than those of pre-treatment (P<0.05), the above indicators of experimental group were lower than those of control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of vidarabine monophosphate and astragalus injection could significantly decrease serum cTnI, IL-1β, IL-10 and TNF-αlevels in children with hand-foot-and-mouth disease.

OBJECTIVE: To screen and analyze items of the second-generation sub-health questionnaire through various item analysis methods, so as to provide basic data for the further study of sub-health measuring scale. METHODS: The investigation and analysis was completed in Southem Medical University between November 2006 and May 2008. A total of 6 000 college students were selected as the investigation targets with cluster sampling method from a medical university in Guangzhou. 6 000 questionnaires were assigned to them in which the answerer was asked about their somatic symptoms, psychological symptoms and social symptoms, with 5 599 valid ones obtained. Eighty three items were analyzed through five methods based on dispersion, correlation coefficient, factor analysis, t-test and Cronbach's g. RESULTS: At last, 63 items were selected to constitute the item pool of the sub-health scale, which were nominated over 4 times according to the nomination summary of the 5 methods.CONCLUSION: All the 63 items kept in the second-generation sub-health questionnaire feature satisfactory sensibility, representation, independence, significance and intemal consistency, which can accordingly lay a good foundation for the further study of the sub-health measuring scale.

OBJECTIVE: To study improvement effects of ethanol extract from Taxillus sutchuenensis on blood glucose level, liver and renal complications in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) model mice and its mechanism. METHODS: T2DM model was established by high-glucose and high-fat feed combined with intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin. Totally 60 T2DM model mice were randomly divided into model control group (normal saline), positive control group [metformin, 150 mg/(kg·d)] and T. sutchuenensis ethanol extract high-dose, medium-dose and low-dose groups [30, 15, 7.5 g/(kg·d), by crude drug], with 12 mice in each group. Other 12 normal mice were included in blank control group (normal saline). After given drug solution or normal saline for consecutive 28 d, the serum levels of FBG, FINS, IL-2, IL-4, IL-12, IFN-γ, Scr, BUN, ALT and AST were detected; 24 h urine was collected to detect the Ucr levels. The insulin sensitivity index (ISI) and insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) were calculated. HE staining was used to observe the pathological change of hepatocytes. The levels of Bcl-2 and Bax in liver tissue as well as the levels of TLR4 and NF-κB p65 in renal tissue were detected. RESULTS: Compared with blank control group, the serum levels of FBG, FINS, IL-4, ALT, AST, BUN, Scr and HOMA-IR value were increased significantly in model control group, while the levels of Ucr, IL-2, IL-12, IFN-γ and ISI value were decreased significantly (P<0.01). The hepatocytes showed obvious pathological changes. Bcl-2 level and Bcl-2/Bax of liver tissue were decreased significantly, while Bax level was increased significantly (P<0.01). The levels of TLR4 and NF-κB p65 in renal tissue were increased significantly (P<0.01). Compared with model control group, histopathological changes of liver were relieved significantly in T. sutchuenensis ethanol extract groups. Except that there was no significant difference in serum level of IFN-γ and level of NF-κB p65 in renal tissue in T. sutchuenensis ethanol extract low-dose group, other indexes were improved significantly (P<0.01 or P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: T. sutchuenensis ethanol extract can improve high blood glucose, liver and renal complications, and protect liver and renal function in T2DM model mice. The mechanism may be associated with improving immunofunction, up-regulating anti-apoptosis factors, down-regulating the expression of apoptosis-promoting and inflammation- promoting factors so as to maintain the functional status of hepatocytes and reduce the degree of renal cell damage.
