1.Progress in the role of Wip1
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2017;33(3):562-566
Wildtype p53-induced phosphatase 1 (Wip1) is a serine/threonine protein phosphatase of 605 ami-no acids, which is expressed at high levels in many organs and tissues .As Wip1 is overexpressed in human tumors , analy-sis of Wip1 has focused primarily on its role in tumorigenesis .In recent years , it has also been shown that Wip 1 plays an important role in several physiological processes including adult neurogenesis , senescence , immunodeficiency and metabolic diseases. This review addresses how Wip1 participates in physiological and pathological conditions at cellular and molecular levels.

Otitis media with effusion (OME), a kind of inflammatory disease of the middle ear, is characterized by the retention of middle ear effusions and hearing loss. There are many factors involved in the development of OME including bacterial infection, formation of bacterial biofilms, eustachian tube dysfunction, adenoid hypertrophy, immune system disorders. Recently, some studies showed that gastroesophageal reflux has correlation with OME.

Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) is a small round cell malignancies, normally confined to the chest wall and soft tissues of children and young adults, and reports of this tumor existing in nasal cavity are scarce. We herein present a case of nasal PNET. A 35-year-old male patient presented with a chief complaint of stuffy nose was diagnosed with a primary nasal pPNET by the clinical, microscopic, immunohistochemical features. Since these tumors are highly aggressive and patient prognosis is typically very poor, early diagnosis, immediate surgical resection and re-resection if possible, early radiotherapy and chemotherapy and close follow-up are required. We also review literatures on pPNET.

BACKGROUND:In recent years, neural stem cell transplantation has become a research hotspot in the treatment of brain injuries, such as cerebral ischemia, but the mechanism has not been fully elucidated.OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of neural stem cell transplantation on neuronal apoptosis and differentiation and neurobehaviors in cerebral ischemia rats.METHODS:Ninety Sprague-Dawley rats with cerebral ischemia were randomized into model group, phosphate buffer solution (PBS) group and neural stem cell group (n=30 per group). Another 30 rats were selected as sham operation group with vascular exposure but with no occlusion under anesthesia. Thirty normal 30 rats acted as controls with no treatment. Thereafter, neurological deficit scores, cerebral infarction volume, the number of apoptotic nerve cells,BrdU/NeuN and BrdU/GFAP expression were detected at 3, 7, 14 days after modeling.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:On the 7th day and 14th day after modeling, the neurological deficit scores, cerebral infarct volume and the number of apoptotic nerve cells in the neural stem cell group were significantly lower than those in the model group and PBS group (P < 0.05), but there was no statistically significant difference between the model group and PBS group (P > 0.05). On the 3rd day, 7th day and 14th day after modeling, the neurological deficit scores and the number of apoptotic nerve cells in the control group and sham operation group were significantly lower than those in the model group, PBS group and neural stem cell group (P < 0.05). On the 3rd day after modeling, the BrdU/NeuN positive cell count in the model, PBS and neural stem cell groups showed no statistically significant differences (P > 0.05); on the 7th day and 14th day after modeling, the BrdU/NeuN positive cell count in the neural stem cell group was significantly higher than that in the model group and PBS group (P < 0.05), but the difference between the model group and PBS group was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). On the 3rd day, 7th day and 14th day after modeling, BrdU/GFAP positive cell count in the neural stem cell group was significantly lower than that in the model group and PBS group (P < 0.05),and the latter two groups had no statistically significant difference (P > 0.05). In summary, neural stem cell transplantation for cerebral ischemia contributes to the neuronal differentiation of endogenous neural stem cells in the subventricular zone of the lateral ventricles, reduce neuronal apoptosis, and ease ischemic damage to the rat neurological function.

Objective:To investigate the biological characteristics of dental epithelial cells derived from cervical-loop epithelium in rat lower incisor. Methods:The apical end of the lower incisor was dissected from two-day-old Sprague-Dawley rats by visual microscopy, and dental epithelial cells were obtained by culture of the apical end explants of the lower incisor. The biological characteristics of dental epithelial cells were determined by morphology and immunocytochemistry fluorescence. Results:Dental epithelial cells emigrated from the cervical loop of rat lower incisor, and epithelium-like morphologies with round-shape or square-shape was observed. Dental epithelial cells had a striking proliferation potential with a high level of BurdU labeling. As a marker of epithelium stem cells, P63 expression was observed in most early cultured cells. However, as cells were subcultured, dental epithelial cells, with the lower level of BurdU labeling, decreasing expression of P63 and increasing expression of alkaline phosphatase, were inclined to terminal differentiation. Conclusion:Stem cells or dental epithelial progenitor cells might reside in the cervical loop of the apical end of the rat lower incisor. The present study may provide an excellent cell source for study on the differentiation of dental epithelial cells and tooth regeneration.

Objective To study the effect of Atorvastatin on the level of serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) and nitric oxide(NO) in patients with acute cerebral infartion(ACI). Methods 60 patients with ACI were randomly divided into the Atorvastatin therapy group (n=30) and the conventional therapy group (n=30). At the basic of conventional therapy, the Atorvastatin therapy group was treated with Atorvastatin 20 mg/d. Both groups were treated for 14 consecutive days. The levels of serum hs-CRP and NO were measured and the scores of neurological deficit (NDS) were evaluated before and after treatment. Results The levels of serum hs-CRP in both two groups after 14 d treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment ( all P

Chinese Journal of Interventional Cardiology 1993;0(03):-
Objective To analyse frequency, risk factors and prognosis of stent thrombosis after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) during the last five-year period. Methods Primary PCI was performed in 311 patients with STEMI including 250 males and 61 females with an average age of 60.4 years (26~85 years). The standard triple antiplatelet/anticoagulation therapy with aspirin and clopidogreal plus heparin was used pre- and post-interventional procedure. All patients underwent more than two months follow-up investigation. Results A successful primary PCI procedure was achieved in 99% (308/311) STEMI patients with incidence of total stent thrombosis in 2.6% (8/308), including acute stent thrombosis in five patients and subacute or late thrombosis in three patients. Multiple risk factors could be identified in all the eight patients, of whom, three died of acute closure events and the follow-up study in the other five showed severe systolic dysfunction of left ventricle. Conclusion High incidence of stent thrombosis occurred after primary PCI for STEMI with high mortality and poor clinical prognosis. Application of small diameter and/or long stents and discontinuation of clopidogreal seem to be major risk factors.
