[Objective] To investigate the establishment of the Allograft Menisci Bank so as to provide suitable allograft meniscus for clinical study of allograft meniscus transplantation.[Method]The allograft menisci from the plentiful donors of the tissue bank were achieved and preserved with the deep-frozen technique.Clinical use of allograft menisci should be based on practical requirement of patients and the data recorded in the Menisci Bank.[Result]From 2005 to the end of 2006,an Allograft Menisci Bank was established which consisted with about 300 different-sized menisci and 14 allograft menisci were provided for clinical study.[Conclusion]Establishment of the Allograft Menisci Bank can provide a base for clinical meniscus transplantation.The short-term effects of the allograft menisci transplantation are satisfactory,but the long-term outcomes need more cases and further observation.

Objective To discuss the reasons of death in the in-patients with percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI).Methods Retrospective analysis was done in 33 cases who died in or after the procedures among 3 252 in-patients with PCI.Results 4 patients died in procedures and the others died after procedures.The major reasons of death in order were:cardiogenic shock,ventricular fibrillation,acute left heart failure,multiple organ failure,heart rupture and acute renal failure.The in-hospital mortality rate was 1.01%.Conclusion The major reasons of death of patients with PCI are cardiogenic shock,ventricular fibrillation and acute left heart failure.Taking some measures will reduce the in-hospital mortality rate.

Objective To investigate a water contamination accident caused by industrial wastewater during Feb 27th-29th ,2004,in Tuojiang river, analyze the variation of sanitary quality of drinking water during and after the accident. Methods After the occurrence of the accident,consecutive surveillance and analyses were done to discover the variation of the levels of amino-nitrogen,nitrite and nitrate in source water and finished water of Jianyang Water Works and Neijiang No 2 Water Works,which located at the lower reaches of Jianyang. Results The levels of amino-nitrogen in source water and finished water of Jianyang Water Works reached the first peak [(47.04?2.48)?(45.97?2.37)mg/L]at the 3rd day(March 3rd) after the end of discharge of industrial wastewater from contamination source,decreased at the 4th day ,reached the second peak at the 5th day[(42.26?2.88)?(39.50?2.64)mg/L], then decreased gradually, presented the normal levels at the 11th day[(0.54?0.10)?(0.30?0.12)mg/L]. The levels of nitrite in source water and finished water of Jianyang Water Works reached the first peak [(2.09?0.23)?(0.91?0.15)mg/L] at the 2 nd-3rd day after the end of discharge of industrial wastewater from contamination source,decreased at the 4th day ,reached the second peak at the 5th day[(2.18?0.33),(0.61?0.16)mg/L], then decreased gradually,presented the normal levels at the 11th day[(0.16?0.07)?(0.02?0.01)mg/L]. The levels of nitrate in source water and finished water of Jianyang Water Works(3.56～9.15 mg/L) didn't exceed the standard ruled the Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water (2001) throughout the duration of accident. The levels of amino-nitrogen and nitrite in source water and finished water of Neijiang No.2 Water Works both exceeded the related standards, the levels of nitrate met the requirement of the Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water (2001) during the period from the first day to the third day after the end of discharge of industrial wastewater from contamination source. From the forth day to the 25 th day, Neijiang No.2 Water Works was changed to be supplied by the Five-star reservoir,and produced safe and sanitary finished water meeting the requirement of the Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water (2001). Conclusion This wastewater contamination accident seriously deteriorates the quality of drinking water in Jianyang and Neijiang.

[Objective]To summarize the clinical experience on anesthesia techniques for surgery of spinal tumors.[Method]A total of 546 patients undergoing surgery of spinal tumors were retrospectively studied,and the complications of surgery were also collected.[Result]There was no perioperative death.The average degree of blood loss was 1997ml per patient who usually required a large volume of blood transfusion.Acute pumonlary edema were occurred in 3 patients who were suspected to develop larynx edema immediately after operation.A perioperative visual loss following cervical spine surgery was also founded.[Conclusion]It is important to prevent and minimize blood loss by varied techniques during operation.Peventing adverse effect of operative position on patients and protecting their airway are also crucial for spinal surgery.

[Objective]To explore the influence of defatting procedure on osteogenicity of cancellous bone allograft.[Method]Thirty inbred Lewis rats were killed.Distal femoral metaphyses were resected as cancellous bone grafts.Grafts were randomly divided into four groups which were treated by four different procedures,respectively.Content of total lipid and total protein in grafts were measured.Twelve inbred Fisher344 rats were randomly divided into four groups according to different grouped grafts which were transplanted into femoral metaphysis bone defects of the recipients.Two different fluorochrome dyes were given subcutaneously to the recipients at 14th and 4th days before sacrifice respectively.All rats were killed at the 8th postoperative week.The experimental distal femoral metaphyses were harvested and nondecalcified sections were prepared.Sections were observed with a fluorescent microscope and bone histomorphometries were studied.The correlation analysis was performed between mineral apposition rate(MAR) and the content of total lipid.[Result]Results of measurement showed content of total lipid in four grouped grafts were different and the difference between groups were statistically significant(P

Objective To apply the EDI technology to the field pharmaceutical water preparation, thus improve the ability to prepare pharmaceutical water. Methods The EDI pharmaceutical water production technics was studied, and different kinds of technics were analyzed. The resistance value and TOC content of product water by EDI system were checked. The compact field purified water apparatus was developed, for which self-developed EDI was core technology. Results EDI system had advanced performance, for which the resistance value was high level, and the content of TOC was low. The produced water accorded with the criterion of purified water of Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2005. Conclusion EDI technology adapts to field pharmaceutical water production, and improves the quality of produced water and the adaptability of the system.

Objective To investigate the detection of peritoneal free cancer cells and its clinical significance. Methods The peritoneal free cancer cells,the positive rates of CK20 protein and CK20 mRNA expressions of peritoneal lavage fluid were detected by peritoneal lavage cytology (PLC),flow cytometry (FCM) and real-time fluorescent quantitative RT-PCR in 50 cases of gastric cancer patients,respectively. The sensitivity of three kinds of detection method to peritoneal free cancer cells was compared. Results The positive rates of peritoneal free cancer cells,CK20 protein and mRNA expression of peritoneal lavage fluid were 20.0% (10/50),36.0% (18/50) and 58.0% (29/50),respectively. The positive rate of CK20 mRNA expression detected by real-time fluorescencequantitative RT-PCR in peritoneal lavage fluid was significantly higher than those of the CK20 protein expression detected by FCM and peritoneal free cancer cells detected by PLC (P0.05). Objective To explore the effects of restraint water-immersion stress (RWIS) on the firing activities of pyramidal neurons in the medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC) of rats.Methods Multi-channel in vivo recording techniques were used to record firing activities of pyramidal neurons before and during 4-h RWIS in rats.Firing rates,inter-spike intervals and burst firing rates were taken as indices to study the influence of RWIS on neuronal firing activities.Results Twenty-five pyramidal neurons of 12 rats were recorded.The opposite patterns of firing activities were observed in two different classes of neurons,type A and type B neurons which account for 72％ and 28％,respectively.In type A neurons,inhibited firing activities were in direct proportion to the stress-exposure.Mean firing rates and mean burst firing rates were significantly reduced to (0.81 ± 0.11) Hz and (1.012 ± 0.50) counts/min after 4h constant RWIS compared with those before RWIS,(3.57 ± 0.63) Hz and (10.29 ± 3.04) counts/min.However,in type B neurons,firing activities were enhanced.After 2h constant RWIS,mean firing rates and mean burst firing rates were increased from (1.77±0.45) Hz and (2.01±0.73) counts/min to (2.67±0.74)Hz and (9.04±2.42) counts/min,respectively.Moreover,the percentage of spikes in bursts was significantly increased and mean inter-spike intervals were remarkably shortened.Interestingly,the effect of RWIS on type B neurons lasted for shorter time compared with its effect on type A neurons.Conclusion RWIS differentially affects the firing activity of pyramidal neuron in the MPFC,i.e.,inhibiting the firing activity of type A neurons,but enhancing the firing activity of type B neurons.

BACKGROUND:Vertebroplasty with bone cement injection in treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures has a positive clinical outcome, but there is a big controversy on the optimal timing of surgery. OBJECTIVE:To analyze the effect of fracture time on bone cement dispersion within pathologic vertebrae in vertebroplasty treatment. METHODS: Totaly 160 elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture were included, and al were treated with vertebroplasty with high viscosity bone cement injection. According to the duration from fracture to surgery, patients were divided into three groups: fresh fracture group (< 3 weeks), subacute group (3-6 weeks) and old group (> 6 weeks). The bone cement distribution features, diffusion and leakage within the pathologic vertebrae were analyzed by three-dimensional CT image and X-rays. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The bone cement dispersion volume was ranked as fresh group > subacute group > old group, and there was significant difference between groups (P < 0.05). Bone cement dispersion characteristics of each group were uniform distribution with cement-based lumpy shape. The vast majority of bone cement al can disperse to exceed vertebral midline, reaching the upper and lower lamina to a greater degree.
