Objective: The nutritional composition of the muscle of six kinds of cold-water fishes was analyzed . Methods: All fishes were collected and analysed from Bohai Experimental Farm, a base of Heilongjiang River Fisheres Research Institute by conventional biochemical methods. Results: The content of crude protein, lipid and ashes in muscle of six fishes was 75.49%-91.51%, 1.21%-16.80%, 4.93%-6.61% respectively. The total content of amino acids was 69.89 %-88.58%, of 8 essential amino acids 29.61%-38.23%, of 4 delicious amino acids 27.20%-34.92%. All data demonstrated that there is relatively high protein content, comprehensive amino acids and high content of essential and delicious amino acids. Conclusion: The six cold-water fishes belong to super cultured ones involved in high nutritional and economic value and worth to explore for food study and stipulation of germplasmic standard.

Antimicrobial peptides ( AMPs) are critical component of the innate immune system of organisms, and have been demonstrated with the activity against a variety of microorganisms including bacteria, yeast, fungi, viruses and even tumor cells.Broad-spectrum activity and low propensity for resistance development make the AMPs as a kind of great potential for development of new anti-infective agents.In this paper, the origins, the action, the mechanism, the application prospects are reviewed.

BACKGROUND: Besides good biocompatibility, ideal scaffold for bone tissue engineering should possess the characters of promoting cell proliferation and differentiation inducing the regeneration of bone tissue. However, the osteogenetic ability is limited when the materials of scaffold is used alone.OBJECTIVE: To observe the biocompatibility of coralline hydroxyapafite (CHA)/bone morphogenic protein (BMP) composite and osteoblasts.DESIGN: A comparative observation.SETTING: Department of Orthopaedics, Guangzhou General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Area Command of Chinese PLA.MATERIALS: Composite of CHA/BMP (CCHA) and CHA were cut into blocks of 4 mm×4 mm×3 mm and 10 mm×10 mm ×3 mm respectively, immersed in complete medium for 4 days after autoclaving.HETHODS: The experiments were carried out in the Central Laboratory of the Guangzhou General Hospital of Military Area Command of Chinese PLA from March to August in 2005. ① The bone marrow of New Zealand rabbits were extracted to culture osteoblasts. ② The osteoblasts were co-cultured with CCHA (CCHA group) and CHA (CHA group) respectively, and the blank control group was untouched. ③ The proliferative indexof osteoblasts and activity of alkaline phosphatase were measured at 2, 4, 6 and 8 days after co-cultureMAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Results of osteoblasts observed under phase contrast microscope;② Results of CCHA material observed under scanning electron microscope; ③ Activity of alkaline phosphatase; ④ Proliferative index of osteoblasts.RESULTS: ① Osteobtasts observed under phase contrast microscope: The cell appearance was fusiform, oblate and multi-angles with processes of various number and size, and the cells connected with each other by the processes. ② CCHA observed under scanning electron microscope: The CCHA surfacewas granule-like with micropores. The osteoblasts attached to the surface of the materials and grew in monolayer at first, then overlapped as the cells further differentiation and proliferation High-density granules appeared around the cells,most of them tended to a certain direction, and finally formed bone nod as the crystals of calcium salt increased. The cells were embedded in matrixes. ③ Activities of alkaline phosphatase: The activities of alkaline phosphatase [absorbance (A) value] at 2, 4 6 and 8 days after co-culture in the CCHA group were significantly higher than those in the CHA group and blank control group (4 days: 101.6±7.7, 93.7±6.8, 94.4±5.0; 8 days: 120.1±8.2, 108.3±8.8, 110.4±7.5;P ＜ 0.01 or 0.05＝, and there was no obvious difference between the CHA group and blank control group. ④ Proliferative index: The proliferative indexes were increased as the culture time prolonged in the groups, but there was no obvious difference CONCLUSION: The inside of CHA is coral-like with many micropores, cells can well attach to its surface, and has good biocompatibility. Besides, the combined bone morphogenesis protein can obviously enhance the activity of alkaline phosphatase, which may play a certain role in bone induction.

Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a dietary modification intervention model applied by ward nurse on change of dietary behavior among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods A total of 80 participants were divided into intervention patients (n=40) and control subjects (n=40) by random number table.Except lecture-based diabetes educational which was applied for control subjects,a dietary modification intervention model was conducted in intervention patients for a period of two weeks.The intervention program consisted of evaluating an individual's stage of change after being provided dietary information regarding kind of food and portions,discussion with a role model,and keeping a food diary record.Body mass index (BMI),waist-hip ratio (WHR),fasting plasma glucose (FPG),postprandial 2-h plasma glucose (2hPG),glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc) and score of healthy eating behavior were measured at initial and six months later.Results Compared with control group,BMI,WHR,FPG,2hPG,HbA1c in intervention group were significantly decreased,P ＜ 0.01 or 0.05.After six months intervention,FPG,2hPG and HbA1c in both groups were significantly decreased compared with baseline levels,P＜ 0.01.Compared with control group,the scores of healthy eating behavior in intervention group were significantly decreased,P＜ 0.05.After six months intervention,the scores of healthy eating behavior in both groups were significantly elevated,P ＜ 0.01,compared with baseline levels.Conclusions This study yielded evidence for the benefits of using the dietary modification intervention model as a framework in healthy eating behavior among patients with T2DM.

Objective To find out about the demands of health education in the border defense army .Methods A self-made questionaire was used to investigate both the demand of health education in the border defense army and the knowledge-attitude-practice of health .Comprehensive evaluation was conducted on the spectrum of disease in hospitals of border defense army in the previous year .Results Mental health (63.605%), lifestyle (53.829%) and knowledge on occupational protection (41.375%) were the most needed knowledge in the border defense army .Videos and lectures were the means of health education , accounting for respectively 69 .368%and 42 .936%.The total rate of awareness of knowl-edge about health education reached 64.156%.The total rates of holding health attitude and health behavior were 80.765%and 49.113%, respectively.Recently, intervertebral disc disorders,arthritis and other injuries (dislocation, sprain and strain ) were atop the disease spectrum at border defense hospitals .Conclusion Knowledge of mental health , lifestyle and occupational protection along with videos and lectures are the most urgent demand of the border defense army . What needs to be done right away is to improve the awareness of military occupation protection and develop healthy behaviors .

Objective To establish a standardized management system and process for teaching ward rounds of clinical practice,so as to improve the quality of clinical practice. Methods (1) We established the system and process for teaching ward rounds. (2) The students of 2008 grade were divided into two groups. The new system and process for teaching ward rounds was used in 71 students in the experimental group,and the primary teaching ward rounds system was used in 72 students in control group. (3) A survey concerned about students' abilities of grasping theoretical knowledge, clinical thinking, self-study, clinical operation and doctor-patient communication were investigated in both students and their tutors. Result The result showed that the abilities of grasping theoretical knowledge,clinical thinking,self-study,clinical operation and doctor-patient communication in the experimental group were enhanced much more than the control group ( <0.01) . Conclusion The standardized management system and process for teaching ward rounds of clinical practice can improve the students, comprehensive abilities and the quality of clinical practice.

Objective To evaluate the effects of root canal cleanliness on the fracture resistance of roots filled with AH-Plus. Methods Eighty single canal premolars were instrumented using step-back technique, then were randomly di-vided into four groups (n=20 for each group). Group A was washed with distilled water for 10 min, group B1 was washed with 5%EDTA for 1 min, group B2 was washed with 5%EDTA for 5 min and group B3 was washed with 5%EDTA for 10 min. Ten samples of each group were observed by scanning electron microscope at the coronal, middle and apical thirds to exam-ine smear layer removal. The remaining samples of each group were fixed into a electronic universal testing machine and ver-tically loaded until fracture. Results The difference of coronal and middle thirds was significant between group B3 and group B2 (P<0.05). At the middle third, there was significantly improved efficiency in smear layer removal in group B2 than that of group B1(P<0.05). The mean fracture resistance was significantly higher in group B3 (391.91±12.82)N than that of group B2 (335.54±16.14)N, group B1(296.47±17.82) N and group A (264.77±16.64)N (P<0.05). Group B2 showed a signifi-cantly better fracture resistance than that of group B1 and group A (P<0.05). Conclusion The complete removal of root ca-nal smear layer can significantly improve the fracture resistances of roots filled with AH-Plus.

BACKGROUND: Vertebrae axial rotation is a basic deformity of scoliosis, the rotational degree of which is hard to measure due to the field limitation of posterior spinal instrumentation. Currently, vertebrae rotational degree is measured according to preoperative X-ray film or CT, while no reports concerning measuring vertebrae rotational degree during operation. OBJECTIVE: To explore the feasibility of measurement of vertebrae rotational degree with the entry point of pedicle screws.METHODS: Design of the path of pedicle screws on CT scans before surgery, a line bisection and perpendicular to another connecting bilateral entry point of pedicle screws, and the angle of vertebral rotation (EPPsag) was taken as the angle between this line and the saggital plane. The difference among vertebrae rotational degrees measured by conimeter, Ho's method and EPPsag was compared by Wilcoxon signed rank test. The intra-observer and inter-observer difference was analyzed with One-WayANOVA. Conimeter was used to measure vertebrae rotational degree of each vertebra in 9 lumbar specimens, and the results was compared to EPPsag.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: There was no significant difference among EPPsag, actual rotational degree and measuring results of Ho's method (P>0.05). The One-Way ANOVA showed that the differences between intra-observer analysis and inter-observer analysis (P>0.05). The results demonstrated that EPPsag can exhibit vertebrae rotational degree accurately and repeatability. This anger can be obtained accurately with the instrument if the vertebrae rotational degree not exceeding 30°.

In this study ,we aim to identify the protein interaction site of microneme protein 2 (MIC2) and aldolase in Toxoplasma gondii .The tryptophan (Trp ,W) at site 767 of carboxyl terminus of MIC2 (MIC2C) was mutated into alanine (Ala ,A) by site-directed mutagenesis to construct plasmid MIC2C W/A/pGEX-4T-1 .The mutant protein GST-MIC2C W/A was expressed in E .coli upon IPTG induction .Glutathione sepharose beads were incubated with GST-MIC2C W/A and GST-MIC2C respectively ,then incubated with tachyzoite lysates ,and bound proteins were eluted using sample buffer .Eluants were resolved by SDS-PAGE and Western blot .A protein band specifically recognized by anti-aldolase antibody was detected in prod-ucts coming from GST pull-down of GST-MIC2C ,but not in pull-down products coming from GST-MIC2C W/A .With muta-tion of MIC2C W767 to A ,MIC2 protein lost the binding ability to aldolase .Tryptophan (W767 ) was the protein interaction site of MIC2 and aldolase in T .gondii .

Objective To observe the clinical effects of tibial locking multidirectional interlocking intramedullary nail (TLMIIN) for tibial plateau fractures. Methods 38 cases with closed tibial plateau fractures treated by TLMIIN from October 2008 to May 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 22 males and 16 females, with an average age of 48.7 years (range, 28-67 years). There were 24 fractures on the left side while the other 14 factures were on the right side, which were all fresh frac?tures. According to AO/OTA classification of tibial plateau fractures, there were 4 cases of B1, 1 case of B2, 14 cases of B3, 8 cas?es of C1, 5 cases of C2 and 6 cases of C3. Close reduction were performed on 4 cases (10.5%of all cases). Open reduction were performed on the other 34 cases. The limited incision was decided by the distribution of the fragments and fracture line. Hohl?Luck evaluation system was applied for the follow?up. Results The mean follow?up period was 18.1 months (range, 11-23 months). All fractures were healed at an average period of 87.4 days (range, 48-131 days). The average time from operation to full weight?bearing was 108.9 days (range, 80-128 days). Hohl?Luck evaluation system was used in the final follow?up. The excellent and good rate of functional score was 94.7%(36/38), including 28 cases excellent, 8 cases good and 2 cases fair from functional as?pect. The excellent and good rate of radiological score was 84.2%(32/38), including 23 cases excellent, 9 cases good and 6 cases fair from radiological aspect. No complications such as infection, breakage and loosening of the screw, malunion, nonunion oc?curred at the time of the latest follow?up. 6 cases with serious swelling of the knee joint and the soft tissue of crus were cured by an?ticoagulation, dehydration and physiotherapy treatments after operation. The 2 cases with a little exudates and incrustation was bacterial cultured negative and healed after 16 days and 18 days on the incision. 1 case had lost of reduction due to weight?bearing 1 week after operation, who had 25 degree of varus deformity, which was left dispose, and the bone healing and joint function were unaffected. Conclusion The intramedullary support, restrictive and non?restrictive multidirectional tridimensional fixation of TLMIIN technology had satisfactory effects in treating plateau fractures. It can supply a new therapeutic method, with little dam?age of soft tissues when taking out the internal fixation and reduce some postoperative complications.
