Objective To study the incidence and the effect of intracoronary stenting for spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). Methods Data from coronary angiography performed in 2?216 patients were analyzed to discover SCAD. Intracoronary stents were implanted in the patients with SCAD suited for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Aspirin, clopidogrel, heparin or low molecular weight heparin were used on demand during the operation-around period. Results Twenty-six cases of SCAD [19 males, 7 females, mean age (60.9?11.6) years] were discovered. The incidence was 1.17%. Among the 26 patients, 15 suffered from acute myocardial infarction and 11 unstable angina. SCAD occurred in 28 blood vessels of the 26 cases, of which, 1 was in LM, 9 in LAD, 4 in LCX and 14 in RCA. Twenty-three stents were implanted in 19 coronary arteries of 18 patients (15 stentings after PTCA and 4 direct stentings). After PCI, remaining stenosis of one SCAD lesion was

Objective To explore the characteristics of illness attribution of outpatients with multiple somatic symptoms in Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Methods It was a cross-sectional study conducted from March to October,2012. A total of 150 outpatients were recruited from the departments of Gastroenterology,Traditional Chinese Medicine and Psychological Medicine by convenience sampling. Somatic symptom scale of the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-15) was used to screening each patient in the waiting list. With the cut-off value of 10,patients were divided into the somatic symptom positive (SOM+) group and somatic symptom negative (SOM-) group. Sociodemographic characteristics were compared between these two groups. All the subjects completed interviews including questions about illness attribution. All the answers of illness attribution were concluded into three major groups as physical factors, situational factors and psychological factors. Results The proportion of female was significantly higher in SOM+ group than in SOM-group (69.3% vs. 53.3%;χ=4.048,P=0.044). In SOM+ group, significantly more patients contributed their illness to psychological factors (64.0% vs. 45.0%;χ=5.273,P=0.022). There was no significantly difference between SOM+ group and SOM-group on the phenomenon of multiple illness attribution (41.0% vs. 32.0%;χ=1.407,P=0.236). However,in the Department of Gastroenterology, there were significantly more outpatients in SOM+ group with multiple illness attribution (60.0% vs. 32.0%;χ=3.945,P=0.047).Conclusions The outpatients in general hospital with multiple somatic symptoms are more likely to contribute their illness to psychological factors. The phenomenon of multiple illness attribution is common among patients. Clinicians should increase their awareness and knowledge of illness attribution,so as to provide better holistic health services.

Referring to the rules for agricultural seed testing (GB /T 3543-1995) issued by China, the test of sampling, seed purity, weight per 1 000 seeds, seed moisture, seed viability and germination rate had been studied for screening seed quality test methods of Pesudostellaria heterophylla. The seed quality from different collection areas was measured. The results showed that at least 6.5 g seeds should be sampled and passed through 10-mesh sieve for purity analysis. The weight of 1 000 seeds was determined by using the 500-seed method. The phenotypic observation and size measurement were used for authenticity testing. The seed moisture was determined under the higher temperature (130 ± 2) degrees C for 5 hours. The seeds were dipped into 0.2% TTC sustaining 1 hour at 40 degrees C, then the viability could be determined. The break dormancy seeds were cultured on sand at 10 degrees C. K cluster analysis was applied for the data analysis, the seed quality from different collection areas grading of P. Heterophylla was described as three grades. The seed quality of each grade should reach following requirements: for first grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 86%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.59 g, purity ≥ 87%, moisture ≤ 13.1%; for second grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 70%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.40 g, purity ≥ 77%, moisture ≤ 14.3%; for third grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 41%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.29 g, purity ≥ 76%, moisture ≤ 15.8%. The seed testing methods for quality items of P. heterophylla had been initially established, as well as the primary P. heterophylla seed quality classification standard.

Chinese Journal of Pathology 2005;34(9):569-574
OBJECTIVETo study mRNA and protein expression of HOXA5 gene in breast carcinoma, to correlate the expression of HOXA5 gene with clinicopathologic parameters and to explore the possible role of HOXA5 gene in carcinogenesis, progression and metastasis of breast carcinoma.
METHODSTaqMan real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was applied on 60 cases of primary breast carcinoma and 24 cases of benign mammary lesions in order to detect mRNA expression of HOXA5 gene. Immunohistochemical study using polyclonal antibody against HOXA5 was also performed. Statistical analysis was carried out to analyze the correlation between HOXA5 gene expression and various clinical parameters in these breast cancer patients.
RESULTS(1) The relative expression level of HOXA5 mRNA ranged from 0.73 to 193.07 (average = 20.85) in primary breast carcinoma, in contrast to 5.42 to 81.91 (average = 30.94) in benign mammary lesions. Compared with benign mammary lesions, a significant reduction in expression of HOXA5 mRNA was noted in primary breast carcinoma (P < 0.01). (2) There was a decreased or completely diminished HOXA5 protein expression in breast carcinoma. (3) HOXA5 mRNA expression was significantly lower in lymph node-positive cases, when compared with that in lymph node-negative cases (P < 0.05). A significant difference of HOXA5 protein expression was also observed in both groups (P < 0.01). Immunohistochemical staining of HOXA5 was either negative or weakly positive in lymph node-positive cases. On the other hand, moderately or strongly positive HOXA5 staining was noted in lymph node-negative cases. (4) Neither mRNA nor protein expression of HOXA5 gene correlated with clinicopathologic parameters such as age of patients, size of tumor, clinical stage, pathologic subtype or histologic grade (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSDisordered expression of HOXA5 gene may play a role in the carcinogenesis of breast cancer. Reduced expression of HOXA5 gene may be related to the metastatic potential of breast carcinoma cells.

Objective To investigate the value of three-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (3D-STI) in assessment of left ventricular (LV) strains. Methods Thirty healthy young adults examined by two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI) and 3D-STI. And the results of LV measurements were compared, which included mean peak systolic longitudinal strains, radial strains and circumferential strains. Also, the time consumption of these two methods was compared. Results The time needed for 3D-STI in acquisition and analysis of the images were (309.3±23.4)s, (305.5±11.2)s, while the time for 2D-STI were (490.6±14.4)s, (1261.4±39.9)s. The differences were signiifcant(t=-21.81, 69.94, both P<0.01). The global mean peak systolic radial strains was (48.59±7.68)%by 3D-STI and (33.25±7.27)%by 2D-STI. The difference was signiifcant(t=9.16, P<0.01). The global mean peak systolic longitudinal and circumferential strains were (-17.66±3.14)%, (-17.13±2.29)% by 3D-STI and (-21.35±2.46)%, (-21.97±3.84)% by 2D-STI. The differences were signiifcant(t=5.33, 5.99, both P < 0.01). The 3D-STI strains were different at different levels of LV. The longitudinal, circumferential and radial 3D-STI strains were largest at middle levels. However, 2D-STI strains didn′ t show such trend. Peak strains measured by 3D-STI and 2D-STI showed high inter-observer and intra-observer agreement in Bland-Altman chart. Conclusion 3D-STI is a novel, convenient and reproducible method to evaluate the strains of LV.

Objective:To evaluate the validity and reliability of the Problem Area in Diabetes Scale (PAID) for assessing diabetes-related distress in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods:Totally 203 outpatients with type 2 diabetes from a tertiary hospital in Beijing were selected. They were assessed with PAID,Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD-17),Patient Health Questionaire-9(PHQ-9),World Health Organization Five item Well-Being Index (WHO-5 ),Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI)and HbA1 C. Item analysis and exploratory factoranalysis were conducted to test constructive validity. Concurrent validity was evaluated by the correlation coeffi-cients with the other instruments mentioned above. Totally 3 1 subjects were retested 4 weeks later to obtain the test-retest reliability. Results:Exploratory factor analysis produced 4 factors, including emotional, therapeutic, diet and perceived society support problems specific to diabetics. The total variance contribution ratio was 64. 33%. Except i-tem 7 and 20,no item was across two factors. The correlation coefficients of each item with relevant subscale score ranged from 0. 67 to 0. 86. The PAID scores were positively correlated with the scores of HAMD-17,PHQ-9 and HbA1C (r=0. 48,0. 43,0. 21,P<0. 001 or 0. 01),and negatively correlated with WHO-5 scores (r=-0. 46,P<0. 001). The Cronbach's αcoefficients were 0. 94 for the total scale and 0. 81 -0. 88 for the 4 subscales. The test-retest reliability coefficient was 0. 65 for the total scale and 0. 53-0. 73 for the 4 subscales. Conclusion:The validi-ty and reliability of the Problem Area in Diabetes Scale are acceptable in Chinese mainland, and can be available to assess the stress related to diabetics.

To explore the plasticity of human amniotic mesenchymal cells(hAMCs) into cardiomyocyte-like cells,hAMCs were isolated from human amnion with collagenase digestion.Phenotype of the isolated cells was analyzed by flow cytometry(FCM).hAMCs were treated with 5-azacytidine and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) to investigate their ability of differentiation into cardiomyocytes. The induced differentiated cells were evaluated by immunofluorescence for desmin and ?-actin expression and by RT-PCR for Nkx2.5,GATA-4 and alpha-myosin heavy chain(?-MHC) mRNA expression. The results showed that, after primary culture,hAMCs could reach a confluence of 80% with swirl like growth at 6 days. The cells proliferated rapidly after passages with a 100% confluence at 3~4 d.hAMCs were positive expression of CD44 and vimentin, but negative for CK19.After induced differentiation at 8~10d,the differentiated cells have close-up arranged with long spindle-shape.At 2 weeks and 4 weeks, induced cells expressed ?-actinin and cardiac-specific transcription factor Nkx2.5.Expressions of GATA-4 and desmin can be detected but ?-MHC can not in the hAMCs both before and after the induction. In conclusion,hAMCs have the ability of differentiation into cardiomyocyte-like cells, which means that hAMCs can be regarded as candidate cells for cellular cardiomyoplasty(CCM).
