The China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS) designed and applied the Traditional Chi-nese Medicine (TCM) Medical Treatment and Clinical Scientific Research Information Sharing System based on Hepatitis B-associated Liver Failure (Gan-Wen ) . The network and hardware environment were built . And the electronic medical record system which fits for TCM treatment and research was also established. The system is interfaced to various clinic information systems. Standard TCM terminology database and medical record templates were built. The TCM clinical multidimensional data warehouse was constructed to achieve data mining and im-prove TCM research ability and efficiency .

Objective To investigate awareness of hypertension prevention and treatment knowledge in physicians from hospitals at varied levels in Xinjiang. Methods In total, 150 voluntary physicians were selected randomly from hospitals at varied levels in Xinjiang for an anonymous close-book baseline survey on hypertension knowledge with questionnaire. Then, an intensive training on hypertension prevention and treatment based on Guidelines on Prevention and Treatment for Hypertension in China was offered for them.After training, another survey was conducted among them with the same questionnaire to examine improvement in their awareness of hypertension prevention and treatment knowledge and evaluate effectiveness of the training. Results At baseline, 89. 3 percent (134/150) of physicians could correctly know diagnostic criteria for hypertension, 78. 3 percent ( 18/23 ) of them from primary-care hospitals, and 52. 0 percent (78/150) could correctly know level of blood pressure under control, only 34. 8 percent (8/23) of them from primary-care hospitals. Only 67 (44. 7% ) physicians surveyed could know criteria for non-antihypertensive drug treatment, 27 of then from secondary-care hospitals and nine from primary-care ones, significant less in that among those from tertiary-care ones ( 88. 6%, 31/35 ) ( P ＜ 0. 05 ). After training, their awareness of hypertension prevention and treatment knowledge improved significantly ( P ＜0. 01). Conclusions Awareness of hypertension prevention and treatment knowledge differed considerably in physicians from hospitals at varied levels, poorer in those from primary-care hospitals, and more importance should be attached to them, especially to those from primary-care hospitals.

Aim To investigate the inhibitory effect of schizandrin B( SchB) on ultraviolet radiation b ( UVB) radiation-induced apoptosis of HaCaT cells. Methods Methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium ( MTT ) assay was used to examine the effect of SchB on cell viability recovery. Cell apoptosis and necrosis were measured by Ho-chest33342 staining. The p53, p21 and Caspase-3 mRNA expressions were examined by RT-PCR. Results In this study, we found that Sch B attenuated UVB-in-duced toxicity in HaCaT cells. Through Hoechst 33342 stain, we visualized that SchB could inhibit UVB-in-duced HaCaT cell death. The result demonstrated that p53 , p21 and Caspase-3 mRNA levels decreased com-pared with the control group. Conclusions Sch B at-tenuates the UVB-induced toxicity of HaCaT by inhibi-ting apoptotic gene expression. It plays a role in anti-photoaging.

Objective:To evaluate the effect of occlusal adjustment on the restoration of the idiopathic cervical lesions.Methods:295 teeth with dental idiopathic cervical lesions in 83 patients were divided into 2 groups,142 teeth with occlusal interference were included in group 1 and the 153 without occlusal interference in group 2.The deffects of all the teeth were filled with Z350 nano-resin and followed up for 2 years.Then the teeth with treatment failure were divided into the experimental group (A,30 from group 1 and 14 from group 2) and the control group(B,30 from group 1 and 15 from group 2).The idiopathic cervical lesions of all teeth were filled with Z350 nano-resin,the occlusion of the corresponding teeth in group A was adjusted at the same time,that of group B was not treated.The cases were followed up for 1 year.Results:The success rate of group 1 and group 2 was 57.75％ and 81.05％ repectively (P ＜ 0.05).A subsequently treatment and 1 year follow-up showed that the success rate of gorup A and B for the cases with treatment failure of group 1 was 83.33％ and 56.67％ (P ＜ 0.05),for group 2 was 85.72％ and 40％ (P ＜ 0.05) respectively.Conclusion:The occlusal adjustment is benefit to the clinical effect of the treatment outcome of idiopathic cervical lesions.

BACKGROUND:In palatorrhaphy, iodoform gauzes are often used to fill the bilateral relaxation incisions and cover the wound. However, there are a series of postoperative complications, such as fever, loss of appetite, foreign body sensation, secondary bleeding. In order to avoid or reduce the complications after palatorrhaphy, the use of gelatin sponge to fill bilateral relaxation incisions has achieved good clinical results.OBJECTIVE:To compare the clinical effects of different treatments on wound healing after palatorrhaphy.METHODS:110 child patients with cleft palate were selected and assigned into two groups according to admission time. Fifty-four patients who admitted from January 2013 to December 2015 (experimental group) were obturated with gelatin sponge, while the other 56 patients who admitted from January 2008 to December 2012 (control group) were obturated with idoform gauze. The postoperative results of patients were assessed in various aspects, including psychological impact, diet, body temperature, bleeding, and wound healing. The incision scar width was measured at 4 weeks postoperatively.@RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Patients in the experimental group experienced shorter recovery time than those in the control group (P < 0.05). (2) Patients in the experimental group had substantialy lower incidence of fever postoperatively, and shorter duration of fever than those in the control group (P < 0.05). (3) In comparison to the control group, the experimental group showed less postoperative complications such as bleeding and vomiting (P < 0.05). (4) The incision scar width in the experimental group was significantly narrower than that in the control group (P < 0.05) after 4 weeks. These experimental findings demonstrate the superior effect of gelatin sponge over iodoform gauze and its value in clinical application with better healing, less bleeding, shorter recovery time and no impact on eating.

ObjectiveTo prospectively compare the effects of Prestige LP cervical disc replacement with those of anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) in treatment of cervical disc herniation.MethodsFrom January 2008 to March 2010,a total of 87 patients were enrolled at our site as study investigating ACDF versus Prestige LP cervical disc prosthesis.Forty-four patients received the investigational device (arthroplasty group) and 43 underwent a single-level ACDF (fusion group).Visual analogue scale(VAS) neck/arm pain,Japanese Orthopedics Association (JOA) score,Short Form-36 (SF-36) both physical and mental,flexion-extension range of motion of operative and adjacent segments were evaluated preoperatively and 1 week and 3,6,12,24 months postoperatively.ResultsA total of 78 patients (89.7％) were followed up for an average 12.4 months(range,6-24).Both groups have favorably demonstrated improved functional outcomes for JOA,VAS scores and SF-36.The improvement in the VAS and JOA scores were equivalent at each follow-up point between the two groups(P＞0.05).However,arthroplasty group had statistically significant improvement as assessed by the SF-36 scores compared with the fusion group at some follow-up points (P＜0.05).In arthroplasty group,the postoperative range of motion of operative and adjacent segments showed no statistical difference with the preoperative counterpart(P＞0.05),and fusion was successful in 92.1％ of control patients.ConclusionPrestige LP cervical disc replacement is a feasible alternative to ACDF for patients with persistently symptomatic cervical disc disease and matching the inclusion criteria.

Objective Ascending aortic dissection(AAD),for which the pathogenesis remains unknown,is life-threatening.Matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)and the pathological changes of vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs)have been reported to have roles the pathogenesis.The study examined the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)and the pathological changes of,VSMCs in patients with AAD.Methods AAD samples were taken from 35 patients(disease group)in acute phase during aortic replacement operation for AAD and control samples were corresponding part of ascending aorta(control group,n=21)collected from the donor hearts for transplantation.Transmission electron microscepe,hematoxylin-eosin(H-E)staining.Mallory staining were used for observing the pathological changes of VSMCs and matrix in the affected aortic wall.The immunohistochemicai staining of MMP-9 was carried out in both groups and semi-quantified by staining intensity analysis.The affected patients were further grouped according to the diameter of dissected aorta as with a AAD of <55 mm or with a AAD of≥55 mm.The associations of clinical factors,such as smoking status,hypertensive disease and aneurysm diameter,with the expression of MMP-9 were analyzed.Results Increased synthetic function of VSMCs with decreased density,disrupted elastic fibers and fibrosis in the dissected aortic wall were observed in the disease group,but not in the control group.MMP-9 was scarcely expressed in the aortic wall of the patients in the control group,though it was notably expressed in the VSMCs of disease group.Both subgroups presented more MMP-9 than the control group(both P<0.001).In the disease group,sub-group with a AAD diameter of ≥55 mm presented more MMP-9 than that with a diameter of <55 mm(P<0.05).MMP-9 expression was positively correlated with a history of hypertension(P<0.01)or a great aneurysm diameter(P<0.05).MMP-9 expression was not associated with age,smoking status or other clinical factors.Conclusion Increased secretion of VSMCs and the expression of MMP-9 induced by elevated blood pressure may lead to the destruction of matrix proteins.The resulting fibrosis of the aortic wall would decrease the tensile strength of the wall.When the fibrotic aortic wall dilated further,the increased expression of MMP-9 would aggravate the damage to the wall.It can be speculated that acute AAD would occur as a result of partial tearing of the aortic intima.

Objective To explore the role and clinical significance of interleukin-6(IL-6) in children with bronchial asthma.Methods Sera were collected from 29 cases with asthmatic attacks,32 asthmatic children who in stable conditions,and 20 health children.Serum IL-6 concentrations were measured by radioimmunoassay(RIA).Results 1.Asthmatic children appeared significantly higher levels of serum IL-6 during asthmatic attacks as compared to those in stable conditions and healthy ones respectively(P3 years old had significantly higher serum IL6 concentrations than ≤3 years old children in remission.Conclusion IL-6 may participate pathogenesis of asthma,and it may play different biological roles during asthmatic attacksas or stable conditions.
