Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
Four specific salt-tolerant fungi for dissolving phosphate rock (FM) w ere isolated from the coastal saline soils. It was found that the biomass and a b ility to release phosphate from the materials decreased with increasing of the N aCl content. During pH7.0~8.5, the biomass and ability of to release phospho rus from the materials of FM1 decreased sharply with pH rising, but the FM2 and FM4 decreased not considerably, optimal pH for FM3 was at pH8.5. At pH9.0, the bi oma ss and ability of to release phosphorus from the materials decreased quickly. F M2 was stable at alkaline and high salt content condition.

ObjectiveTo compare the sensitivity and specificity of a new index of insulin resistance (IR) derived from plasma triglyceride and glucose with homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance index ( HOMA-IR) and insulin sensitivity index from frequent sampling intravenous glucose tolerance test (FSIGT-ISI).Methods A total of 1024 subjects (240 normal control,335 with obesity,312 impaired glucose regulation, and 137 type 2 diabetes mellitus) were included in the present study.Standard oral glucose tolerance test, insulin release test, lipid profiles, and other biochemical markers were measured. Among them 540 subjects were selected to undertake FSIGT.TyG index is derived from plasma triglyceride and fasting glucose.TyG2 index is derived from plasma triglyceride and postprandial 2 plasma glucose.ResultsPearson correlation coefficient between TyG and HOMA-IR or FSIGT-ISI was 0.427 ( P<0.01 ) and -0.100 ( P=0.024 ),respectively, and that between TyG2 and HOMA-IR or FSIGT-ISI was 0.455 ( P<0.01 ) and - 0.162 ( P<0.01 ),respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of TyG index for diagnosis of IR was 68.5% and 63.5% compared with HOMA-IR,and 68.5% and49.5% compared with FSIGT-ISI.For TyG2 index, the slightly higher sensitivity ( 81.7% with HOMA-IR,75.7% with FSIGT-ISI),but lower specificity (51.5% with HOMA-IR,48.2% with FSIGT-ISI) were found.ConclusionsBothTyGandTyG2 indices could be used as a surrogate for assessing IR in Chinese subjects. However, considering its moderately high sensitivity but low specificity, these two indices are limited in the use of large-scale epidemiological screening.

Objective:
To monitor the content of bisphenol S ( BPS ) in vegetables and fruits in Henan Province and evaluate the dietary exposure risk of the population, so as to provide the basis for formulating relevant food safety standards.
Methods:
From 2018 to 2019, 276 samples of vegetables and fruits produced and sold in Henan Province were collected. BPS was determined by isotope dilution ultra performance liquid chromatography triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry ( UPLC-MS/MS ) , and the dietary exposure was calculated according to the dietary structure and average body weight of local residents. The risk index of BPS was calculated according to the daily tolerable intake ( TDI ) of bisphenol A ( BPA ).
Results:
The BPS contents in vegetables and fruits were 0.006-12.600 µg/kg and 0.006-9.380 µg/kg, the medians were 0.053 µg/kg and 0.023 µg/kg, the detection rates were 78.43% and 62.60%, respectively. The detection rate and content of BPS in vegetables were higher than those in fruits ( P<0.05 ). The maximum exposure of BPS from vegetables and fruits was 5.37×10-2 µg/ ( kgbw·d ), and the exposure risk index was 1.07 × 10-3, which was acceptable.
Conclusions
BPS was detected from vegetables and fruits in Henan Province. The detection rate and content of BPS in vegetables were higher than those in fruits. The health risk of BPS exposed by vegetables and fruits is small.

Chinese Journal of Cardiology 2013;41(10):845-849
Objective To determine the relationship between estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and proteinuria with cardiovascular events in subjects aged 80 years or older. Methods Data for this retrospective prognostic study were drawn from the patient database for routine checkup in Beijing hospital between January 2001 to December 2001.Baseline eGFR and proteinuria were evaluated in 340 subjects [mean age:(85.6 ± 4.0) years].eGFR was calculated using the modified abbreviated MDRD equations based on the Chinese chronic kidney disease patients. The subjects were divided into normal renal function group and reduced renal function group (eGFR < 60 ml · min-1 · 1.73 m-2).The subjects were divided into subjects without proteinuria and subjects with proteinuria group.Cardiovascular events included cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke. Results The proportion of reduced renal function was 36.8% (125/340).The proportion of proteinuria was 10.3% (35/340).The proportion of reduced renal function or proteinuria was 41.8% (142/340).Follow-up time was 79 months (40-114 months).Cardiovascular events rate was significantly higher in reduced renal function group than in normal renal function group [37.6% (47/125)vs.26.2% (55/210),P <0.05] and in proteinuria group than in without proteinuria group [50.0% (17/34) vs.28.2% (85/301),P < 0.01].Cox multivariate analysis revealed that both eGFR (HR =0.978,95% CI:0.961-0.994,P < 0.05) and proteinuria (HR =2.049,95% CI:1.132-3.709,P < O.05) were independent risk factors for cardiovascular events after adjusting for age,gender,triglyceride,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, uric acid, hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus. Conclusions Reduced eGFR and presence of proteinuria are independent risk factors for cardiovascular event in subjects aged 80 years or older.eGFR and proteinuria can thus be used for cardiovascular event risk stratification in subjects aged 80 years or older.

Objective To explore the correlation between environmental selenium(Se) levels and cognitive ability among rural elderly population, and the effect of Se on cognitive skill of the elderly. Methods Two study sites(Zichuan district and Gaomi city of Shandong) with different environmental Se levels were selected according to rural elderly people ≥ 65 years were extracted by stratified random sampling method in each site. A retrospective survey was carried out using dietary intake questionnaire for the elderly for the past 1 year, and their daily total Se intake was calculated. Questionnaire was also used to obtain cognitive skill information in the elderly people. The Community Screening Instrument for Dementia, the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease (CERAD) Word List Learning Test, the Indiana University (IU) Story Recall Test, the Animal Fluency Test, and the IU Token Test were applied to assess the cognitive ability. Se level in these samples was analyzed. Correlation between the Se levels of environment and those of human body were analyzed statistically. Results There were 0.163), (0.405 ± 0.086)]mg/kg and nail Se[(147.44 ± 17.42), (117.38 ± 22.48)μg/L]between the two groups (U = 31.59, 25.00, 23.67, all P < 0.01 ). There were positive correlation among the nail Se, environmental Se and Se in all subjects(r = 0.51,0.46, 0.60, all P < 0.01 ). The differences of the CSID total score, the CERAD Word List Learning Test, the CERAD Word List Recall Test and the IU Story Recall Test between the two sites were statistically significant(F = 2.56, 9.18, 7.48, 4.42, all P < 0.05), excluding the Indiana University Story Recall Test. After eliminating possible confounding factors, the Se levels and the CSID total score, the IU Story Recall Test, the Animal Fluency Test and the IU Story Token Test had a significantly positive correlation (r = 0.076, 0.138, 0.042,0.107, P < 0.05 or < 0.01 ), excluding the CERAD Word List Learning Test. Conclusions This study supports the hypothesis that a life long low Se level is associated with lower cognitive ability. The cognitive abilities in the elderly population lived in areas with high environmental selenium levels are significantly higher than that of the elderly lived in areas with low environmental selenium levels.

This study was aimed to investigate the effect of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) combined with SBA-Na on the biologic activities of human leukemia K562 and Kasumi-1 cell lines and their mechanism. The ATRA solution of 10(-6) mol/L (W1), 10(-4) mol/L (W2) and the SBA-Na solution of 100 µg/ ml (Z1) and 200 µg/ml (Z2) were prepared respectively. The K562 and Kasumi-1 cells were treated with W1, W2, Z1, Z2, W1 + Z1 and W2 + Z2 respectively, at same time, the blank control was set up. The cell morphology and growth in different treated groups were observed under light microscope. The CCK-8 method was used to detect the proliferation ability of cells, the cell growth curves were drawn, the inhibitory rate of cells was calculated. The flow cytometry with PI single staining and PI/Annexin V double stainings was used to detect the change of cell cycle and apoptosis of 2 cell lines treated with different drugs. The RQ-PCR was used to detect the change of Cyclin A mRNA expression in K562 cells. The results showed both ATRA and SBA-Na displayed inhibitory effect on cell proliferation, and the combination of these two drugs had stronger effect. As compared with the control group, the cell cycle distribution were changed obviously, and the apoptosis increased more significantly in treated groups, especially in group of ATRA combined with SBA-Na. The Cyclin A mRNA expression was up-regulated in Z1 group, while Cyclin A mRNA expression was down-regulated in other groups. It is concluded that both ATRA and SBA-Na can inhibit the proliferation of K562 and Kasumi-1 cell lines and promote their apoptosis. This effect may be stronger when both drugs combined. For K562 cells, the inhibitory effect may be accomplished through down-regulation of Cyclin A mRNA.
