1.Bone marrow cell transplantation combined with transmyocardial revascularization and off-pump coronary bypass grafting: three-in-one surgery on ischemic heart disease
Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2003;0(04):-
SUMMARY A 61-year-old male patient, with the history of premier myocardial infarction and CABG surgery, experienced recurrent unstable angina. Angiography showed triple vessel disease and vein grafts obstruction. The patient underwent a re-do OPCAB + TMLR + bone marrow mononuclear cell (BM-MNCs) transplantation on Nov. 8, 2004. BM-MNCs were isolated with standard gravity gradient method and the final implanted cell number was 12.06?108. Peri-operative data were similar to those of single OPCAB or re-CABG. The patient recovered promptly without recurrence of angina or infarction. Six-minute walking distance increased significantly (366 m to 493 m). Several imaging examinations reveal improved left cardiac function (LVEF improved from 23.75% to 52% in MRI) and diminished MI area. The results reveal that bone marrow cell transplantation, combined with TMLR and OPCAB is safe and might be effective in improving heart function for patients with IHD.

Objective To determine the expression of metastasis-associated gene 2 ( MTA2 ) and p53 in colorectal cancer and non-cancerous mucosa, analyze their relationship with clinicopathological parameters, and discuss the clinical significance. Methods 120 colorectal neoplasm patients' cancer tissues and clinical information were col-lected from the first affiliated hospital of Anhui medical university. 30 patients of them were chosen to collect non-cancerous mucosa which was 5 cm away from the tumor. Immunohistochemistry staining was used to detect the ex-pression of MTA2 and p53. According to the clinicopathological parameters, the positive and negative expression of MTA2, p53 were counted each group, discussed the relationship between positive expression and clinicopathologi-cal parameters by SPSS 19.0 . Results The immunohistochemistry showed that the positive expression rate of MTA2 was 59.16%, and the positive expression rate of p53 was 61.67%. The expression of MTA2 and p53 in colorectal cancer were significantly higher than non-cancerous mucosa ( P<0.05 ) . The MTA2 expression was positively cor-related with the depth of invasion, lymphatic metastasis, distant metastasis and TNM stages (P<0.05). The p53 protein expression was positively correlated with depth of invasion and lymphatic metastasis ( P<0.05 ) . Conclu-sion MTA2 could be used as a new clinical biomarker and therapeutic target for colorectal cancer probably, which might be more effective than p53 .

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2005;25(5):561-4
To identify the best suture techniques for the tendon repair, the biomechanical properties of tendons sutured by different methods were dynamically examined. 140 chickens were divided into 2 groups equally: group A and group B. The tendon of the right side was subjected to injury-repair process, and the tendons of the left sides served as controls in both groups. In group A, "figure-of-8" suture, modified Kessler suture and Bunnell suture were used for the 2nd to 4th paws respectively, while in group B, Kleinert suture, Tsuge suture and Ikuta suture were used. On the day 0, 3, 7, 14, 21, 28, 42 after operation, 10 animals were sacrificed and the flexor tendons of both sides were harvested for strength test. The results showed that the initial strength of the repaired tendons and the strength after 6 weeks following tendon cut were far below those of intact tendons, irrespective of suture techniques used. With the 6 techniques, the P(max) of tendons repaired by Tsuge suture was increased continually, reaching the highest value on the 42nd day. The P(max) of tendons sutured by the modified Kessler suture was slightly lower than that by Tsuge suture, but it was increased steadily in healing. The tendons repaired by figure-of-8 suture yielded the lowest P(max). It was concluded that Tsuge suture and modified Kessler suture were the best techniques for tendon repair.
