1.Induction of apoptosis and influence of HIF-1? expression on esophageal carcinoma cell ECa109 by soybean isoflavone during hypoxia
Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(19):-
Objective To study the mechanisms and effect of soybean isoflavone on esophageal carcinoma cell ECa109 during the normoxia and hypoxia. Methods The environment of hypoxia was established by GasPak method. The ECa109 cells were assigned into normal control group, soybean isoflavones group, hypoxia group, and soybean isoflavones plus hypoxia group. The effect of soybean isoflavones was determined by MTT, and FCM was used for detecting the apoptosis and cell cycle of ECa109. Electron microscope was used to observe the ultrastructural changes of ECa109 induced by soybean isoflavone. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the changes of HIF-1? and Fas. Results Soybean isoflavone could inhibit significantly the growth of ECa109 cells in a concentration-dependent manner, and arrest the cells in G_2/M phase during normoxia and hypoxia. The inhibitory effect was elevated significantly during hypoxia, and the cell apoptosis and necrosis were observed by electron microscope. The Fas expression was elevated by soybean isoflavone during the normoxia and hypoxia, and the HIF-1? expression was down-regulated during hypoxia. Conclusion Soybean isoflavone can inhibit ECa109 cells growth by delaying the progress of cell cycle, up-regulating the Fas expression. Soybean isoflavone can inhibit the expression of HIF-1? that was increased during hypoxia, which may be the mechanism that the inhibitory effect was enhanced significantly during hypoxia.

Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery 2016;16(10):911-912,916
Objective To study the clinical characteristics of intrauterine re-adhesions treated by transcervical resection of adhesion (TCRA). Methods Between January 2012 and January 2015, 12 patients with intrauterine re-adhesions after TCRA in other hospitals had fertility requirements , including 10 cases of severe intrauterine adhesions and 2 cases of moderate intrauterine adhesions .In our hospital , the 12 patients underwent laparoscopic exploration and TCRA .After operation the patients were treated with artificial cycle therapy for 3 months and then underwent hysteroscopic examination . Results In the operation, the remaining of 50%endometrium was found in 1 case, the remaining of 30%endometrium was found in 1 case, and the remaining of 20%endometrium in 9 cases.Only petechial and patchy residual endometrial islands were found in 1 case.Uterine dysplasia was found in 3 cases.Re-examinations of hysteroscopy 3 months after surgery showed 4 cases of uterine cavity normal recovery , 6 cases of moderate intrauterine adhesions, and 2 cases of mild intrauterine adhesions .Follow-up for 18-42 months (mean, 28.5 months) in the 12 cases showed 2 cases of term pregnancy and 1 case of spontaneous abortion .The other 9 patients had no pregnancy , 3 of which withdrew the treatment and 6 of which underwent further treatment . Conclusions Patients with intrauterine re-adhesions usually have seriously damaged endometrium and poor recovery .We suggest that TCRA should be completed by experienced professionals to reduce the residual endometrial destruction , so as to improve the treatment outcomes of intrauterine adhesions .
4.Trends in prevalence of depression symptoms among middle-aged and elderly residents in China from 2011 to 2018
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2023;35(8):649-654
Objective:
To investigate the trends in prevalence of depression symptoms among middle-aged and elderly residents at ages of 45 years and older in China from 2011 to 2018, so as to provide insights into depression prevention and control among middle-aged and elderly residents.
Methods:
Demographic features and evaluation data of depressive symptoms were collected from middle-aged and elderly residents at ages of 45 years and older recorded during four follow-ups in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), and the depressive symptoms were screened using the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). Following sampling weights, non-response weights, and post-stratification weighting, the detection of depressive symptoms was analyzed among the middle-aged and elderly residents with different demographics, and the trends in prevalence of depressive symptoms were identified using annual percent change (APC).
Results:
A total of 48 223 middle-aged and elderly residents were enrolled, including 12 624, 10 427, 12 144, and 13 028 residents in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2018, with mean ages of (58.8±9.4), (58.9±9.2), (59.0±9.2), and (61.1±9.2) years, respectively. The prevalence of depressive symptoms was 34.5% (95%CI: 33.3%-35.8%), 29.6% (95%CI: 28.5%- 30.8%), 30.6% (95%CI: 29.4%-31.8%), and 35.0% (95%CI: 33.6%-36.4%) among middle-aged and elderly residents in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2018, respectively, with no remarkable changing trends seen (APC=0.4%, t=0.188, P=0.868). Higher detection was seen among residents at advanced ages, among women than among men, among rural residents than among urban residents, among residents with lower educational levels, among widowed and unmarried residents than among married residents, among unemployed residents than among employees, and among residents that had lower per capita personal consumption expenditures than mean expenditures than among residents that had higher per capita personal consumption expenditures than mean expenditures (all P<0.05).
Conclusions
There were no obvious trends in prevalence of depressive symptoms among middle-aged and elderly residents in China from 2011 to 2018, and individuals with advanced ages, women, urban residents and those with low educational and economic levels should be given a high priority for depression control.

Chinese Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2012;9(1):10-15
Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of Gateway-Wingspan system for treatment of symptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis. Methods: The clinical data of 31 patients with symptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis in the Department of Neurosurgery, Peking University First Hospital were analyzed retrospectively from June 2008 to June 2011. The stenotie rate was all >50%. According to Mori's classification, 7 patients were type A and 24 were type B. The patients were treated by using Gateway-Wingspan system and were followed up and evaluated. The perioperative and postoperative complications were observed. Results: Circled digit oneOf the 31 patients, the average stenosis rate in Mori type A patients before procedure was 72.2 ± 4.5% and after Wingspan stenting was 21.6 ± 2.1%. In Mori type B patients, the average preoperative stenosis rate was 75.1 ± 7.0% and after stenting was 24.2 ± 3.8%, the success rate of Wingspan stenting was 96.8%. One patient had perioperative complications; he had unilateral limb weakness and lethargy. Head CT and MRI did not reveal significant infarction and hematoma. Circled digit twoOf the 31 patients, 2 were lost follow-up observation, and the remaining patients were followed up for 5 to 41 months. None of them had cerebral infarction on the stent side within 1 month after procedure. Of the 16 patients whom followed-up with DSA, no restenosis (0/5) was found in the Mori type A patients after procedure. In the 11 Mori type B patients, 4 had restenosis (4/11, P = 0.245) and 2 of them occurred ischemic events after stenting but no mortality. Conclusion: Gateway-Wingspan system in the treatment of symptomatic intracranial stenosis is safe and efficient through rigorous screening of patients. Its long-term efficacy and how to prevent the postoperative restenosis warrant further investigation.
