2.The burden of cancer in Vietnam of the year 2000
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 1999;(9):19-26
It is estimated that there were 36,024 new cancer cases in male and 32,786 cases in females had been diagnosed in the country in this year. The cancers of lung, stomach and liver are the most common cancers in male. The cancers of breast, cervical uterus and stomach are the most common cancers in female. The cancer pattern in the country, though, is not homogeneously distributed. It is likely that the cancers of liver and cervix uteri are more common in the South than in the North while cancer of stomach and nasopharynx is more common in the North than in the South.

5.Changes in number of erythrocytes and hemoglobin in patients with idiopathic aplastic anemia treated with cyclosporine A.
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):28-30
This study involved 27 patients with idiopathic aplastic anemia who were treated from November 1995 to November 1997. Among these, 13 cases received 1.5 mg/kg/day of prednisone and 14 cases received 4 mg/kg/day of cyclosporin-A. Results showed that the number of erythrocytes and hemoglobin have increased in cyclosporin group, but not in prednisone group (p>0.05) during three months of treatment. After 3-month course of treatment, the cyclosporin group had better result in comparison with other group.

6.Study on skin lesions caused by rocket liquid and efficacy of some drugs for treatment.
Journal of Preventive Medicine 1999;9(2):51-56
The study was carried out in 36 grown-up rabbits with average weight 2±0,3kg. The results showed that: skin tissue exposed to oxidant was severe injury with necrosis area into muscle, bone and healing process was slow. Skin injury caused by burn substance was milder: main characteristics of skin lesions were congestion and edema, healing process is faster. Treatment of the skin lesions: spraying water on the contaminated area of the skin and application of B76 everyday was effective. Healing image of the skin tissue appeared early and fast.

7.Some clinical manifestations and immune tests for SLE patients treated in the Allergy - Immune Department of Bach Mai Hospital
Journal of Medical Research 1998;8(4):27-35
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease involving multiple organ systems that is characterized by the occurrence of antibodies directed against antigens. In this study, we mention 2 matters as following: (1) General conclusion on clinical manifestation and subjects of SLE patients treated in the Allergy-Immune Department of Bachmai Hospital from 1996-2000. (2) The role of immune tests for SLE patients, especially Combs and erythrocytic existing tests for SLE patients with anemia. We study 438 patients with clinical manifestation and subsets, researched document of 418 patients and carried out Combs and erythrocytic existing tests in 20 SLE patients treated in Allergy-Immune Department of Bachmai hospital. SLE are found mainly in woman (93.6%), concentrating in the child-bearing age. Hematological disorders (83.8%), "butterfly" rashes (81.9%), arthritis (81.2%) and renal damages (78.5%) are common symptoms. Positive nuclear antibodies occur in 76.3% of patients, antibodies to DNA in 60.5% and LE cell in 40.9%. The rater of 50% of patients with positive Combs test and 55% of patients with damaged erythocytic membranes have played an important role in demonstrating the hemolytic mechanism in SLE patients.

8.Sulfur-containing compounds from Allium sativum L.
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2005;10(2):51-54
Garlic (Allium sativum L.) belongs to the family Liliaceae. It has been used worldwide for long time as spice and folk medicine. Sulfur-containing compounds from Allium sativum L. are especially noticed because these compounds in Allium sativum L. is significantly higher than those in other plants, and due to its pharmacological activities in sulfur-containing medications such as penicillin and sulfonamide antibiotics. From the liquid obtained by garlic cloves press, four sulfur-containing compounds were isolated. Their structures have been elucidated using MS and NMR spectroscopic methods to be ajoene (1), 2-vinyl-4H-1, 3-dithiine (2), diallyl trisulfide (3) and methyl allyl trisulfide (4)

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2008;97(5):32-37
Background: Success in preventing HIV transmission from mother to child has been confirmed, however intervention remains difficult in both services and access barriers due to discrimination and stigma. Objectives: To clarify the HIV prevalence in pregnant women and evaluate the indicators related to the impact of intervention on prevention of mother-to child transmission of HIV. Subjects and method: This study was carried out in 5 districts in 5 provinces that implemented the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) Project. The interventions included the training to provide knowledge, skills on counseling, testing and supervision on PMTCT. The data were collected from designed-questionaires. Results:The results showed there are 100% of pregnant women that came for antenatal visits, had voluntary test counseling. The prevalence of HIV (+) among pregnant women was 0,43%. There were 57 infants born to mothers with HIV (+); received prophylaxis treatment. At the time of the study, there were 31 infants at 18 months of age that received HIV test and all of them were confirmed as negative. Conclusion: Intervention on PMTCT was effectively achieved and should be expanded nationally. Communication, counseling is very important to encourage pregnant women with HIV (+); visit for antenatal care, followed up by health facility and strict adherence to the PMCT schedule to diminish the chance of transmission to their infants.

Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;0(11):34-38
Background: HbA1c quantification is the first important work in long- term controlling of diabetes, which helps to assess the status of diabetes from 2 to 3 months before testing. HbA1c is essential testing to follow up compliance with treatment or not of patients.\r\n', u'Objectives: To study the role of blood HbA1c and micoalbuminuria in the treatment of diabetes.\r\n', u'Subjects and methods: The study was conducted on 124 patients (71 male and 53 female) suffering from diabetes mellitus. Among them, 124 patients were tested for blood HbA1c, 52 patients were tested for both blood HbA1c and micoalbuminuria. The study used the automatic immunological and biochemical techniques. \r\n', u'Results: Concentration of HbA1c was 8.10\xb12.65%, glycemia 9.83\xb14.82mmol/l, urinary micro albumin 76.5\xb196.90mg/l.\r\n', u'There was close relationship between glycaemia and HbA1c; but the relation between micoalbuminuria with HbA1c and glycaemia was not found. The control of diabetes mellitus was poor if glycaemia over 10.0mmol/l and/or HbA1c over 10%. \r\n', u'Conclusion: The techniques applied in the study were precise, rapid and convenient for the patients.\r\n', u'
