1.The otic media pathology in 170 children with cleft palate in some Northen provinces of Vietnam
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2001;263(9):38-40
In patients with cleft palate, ear disease and hearing loss have long been recognized as common problems. In this report, otitis media with effusion and atelectasis were presented at otoscopy and tympanoplasty in 76.4% of 170 infants and children with cleft palate. This rate changes by age and there is not big different between male and female

2.Detection of mutations of hemophilia A by PCR-RFLP with Vent DNA polymerase
Journal of Medical Research 2005;38(5):10-14
Study on blood samples of 29 patients with hemophilia A and 25 normal people to determine the mutation of intron 18 and 19 of factor VIII by PCR-RFLP using Vent DNA polymerase assay. PCR and RFLP methods were used. Results: 16/29 (55%) of haemophilia A patients has the mutation in intron 18 of factor VIII gene and none of them has the mutation in intron 19. This PCR-RFLP assay can be applied for detection of mutations and these methods can be used for carrier analysis and prenatal diagnosis of hemophilia A.

3.Detection of beta-thalassemia mutations by PCR with vent DNA polymerase
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2005;15(5):179-183
Beta-Thalassemia is a blood disease with beta-globin deficiency caused by a directly down-regulation in the synthesis of structurally normal beta chains. Vent DNA polymerase is a high-fidelity thermophilic DNA polymerase, and the fidelity 5 - 15 times higher than Taq DNA polymerase (1/31,000 vs. 1/290 - 1/2,400). Using ARMS PCR (Amplification Refractor Mutation System-PCR) with Vent DNA polymerase, we found that 9/28 (32%) of the tested beta-Thalassemia patients had the mutation at codon 17 and 4/28 (14%) at codon 41/42. This method can be applied for a rapid prenatal diagnosis of beta-Thalassemia disease and has public health significance.

4.Prevalence of hepatitis viral markers in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and extrahepatic neoplasm
Journal of Medical Research 2005;37(4):33-37
Objectives: studying the seroprevalence of HBsAg and anti-HCV in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and neoplasm of non-liver organs. Subjects and method: 124 patients with HCC and 284 patients with neoplasm of non-liver organs (i.e. stomach, colorectus and lung) were treated at Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital. This cross-sectional study was conductedfrom January 2002 to April 2003. Results: Out of 124 patients with HCC, HBsAg positive found in 95/124 (76.6%), anti- HCV positive found in 2/61 (3.28%), both HBsAg and anti-HCV posititive found in 1/61 (1.64%), and prevalence of anti-HCV is much lower than that of HBsAg, p<0.0001. Out of 284 patient with non-liver cancer, HBsAg posititive found in 33/284 (11.62%), and none among 179 patients has anti-HCV posititive. The prevalence of HBsAg posititive in HCC group is much higher than in non-liver cancer group (p<0.0001, OR=24.92).

5.Isolation and identification of Asiaticoside from Centella asiatica (L.) urb
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2004;9(2):51-55
By column chromatograpy and thin layer chromatography, a purified substance named H3 was isolate from the dried powder of Rau Ma (leaf, stem and root of Centella asiatica). Basing on fusion point, IR spectrum, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, DEPT, HMQC, HMBC, COSY 90, the extracted substance was identified as C48H78O19

6.Solitary nodule of the lung: diagnosis and treatment
Journal Ho Chi Minh Medical 2004;8(1):1-6
Solitary nodule is a term, which express a circle or oval shape with maximum diameter < 3cm, in centre or peripheral area of the lung. Solitary nodule was diagnosed by lung tomography, thoracic CT scan and percutaneous biopsy puncture. The treatment: If patients can not be treated by operation: need to monitor and take percutaneous biopsy puncture. If patients can be treated by operation, their disease is reliable benign, need to monitor and take thoracoscopy, take operation with contraindication of endoscopy. If their disease is acute with mediastinal tumors: mediastinal endoscopy but lack of instrument, thoracoscopy should be recommended. Thoracoscopy or open-thoracic surgery denpend on individuals and pathoanatomy’s results

7.Study on synthesis, biology activity of some complexes of mental with thiosemicarbazon
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;490(10):11-13
In laboratory some complexes of platin II, copper II, nikel II with diacetyl monoxin thiosemicarbazon were synthetized. The structure of these complexes and components were determind with UV, UR spectroscopy. The antimiorobial activities were examined on Gram (-) and Gram (+) bacteria, fungi and yeast. Results showed strong antibacterial activities of these synthetized complexes.

8.The relation between smoke and catarrhal otitis media
Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;442(2):8-9
The influence of smoke on otitis media was investigated on 1168 children from 1 to 15 years old of age in Trung Tu and Kim Lien Quarters (Ha Noi) from July 2000 to 2001. The interview was performed on their parents with a questionary of 19 issues concerning the risk factor of otitis media, the examination of ENT and the measuring of ear volume were exerted by two times in all subjects during the period of 1 year. Results showed a prevalence of 8,9% of otitis media in Ha Noi children, the rate of boys is higher than that of girls. Smoke and environment pollution is one of the risk factors of high pulmonary tract infection and of catarrhal otitis media

Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;454(6):30-32
Among 773 children are diverse kindergartens and maternal school in Hanoi the prevalence of secretory otitis media, in winter is 18.49%, summer 11.25%, chronical – in both winter and summer 10.34%, in boys 53.75%, higher than girls 6.25%. The prevalence in breastfeeding infants lower significantly than in bottle feeding ones (9.78% versus 21.62%)

10.Epidemiologic characteristics of catarrhal media otitis in children of preschool age in some kindergarten in Ha Noi
Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;425(5):11-12
Study was carried out at some kindergarten with 773 children of 1-5 years old of age. Results showed an incidence of catarrhal media otitis of 10.34%. This incidence trends to increased in the lower age with a peak of 12.21% at the age of 2, then diminished gradually. The gender rate is 53.75% in boys comparing with 46.25% in girls. In 75.60% patients the condition occurred in both sides of two ears and in the case of unilateral development, the rate is 70.27% in the left in comparing with 29.73% in right ear
