Object To study the volatile constituents in the TCM preparation "Pao Chai Pill" made in Yangcheng (Guangzhou) (YPCP) in comparison with that made in Hongkong (HPCP) to gain some insight for the renewal of YPCP to a new dosage form Methods The volatile constituents were extracted with the aid of ultrasonic wave in organic solvent, and identified by GC-MS and elucidated on the standard MS data Their relative contents in percentage were calculated by area normalization Results 24 and 20 volatile constituents were identified in YPCP and HPCP respectively Conclusion YPCP showed more rich in sesquiterpene lactones but less sesquiterpenes and sesquiterpene alcohols than HPCP
4.Effects of treadmill exercise on spatial learning, memory and expression of hippocampal brain-derived neurotrophic factor of rats after mild traumatic brain injury

Objective To investigate the effects of treadmill exercise on spatial learning,memory and the expression of hippocampal brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) in rats after mild traumatic brain injury (TBI).Methods Thirty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into group T (n =10,undergoing TBI modelling operation and 4 weeks' treadmill exercise training beginning at 48 h after the operation),group C (n =10,undergoing TBI modelling operation and no exercise training) and group N (n =10,undergoing sham operation and no exercise training).Morris water maze(MWM)was used to test rats' abilities of spatial learning and memory.The number of BDNF-positive cells in the hippocampus was measured with immunohistochemistry.Results In the orientational navigation test,the escape latency period was gradually shortened for rats in all groups.At the second training week,the average time of group T(88.54 ±5.73 s) became shorter than that in group C (91.45 ± 8.91 s).At the fourth week,however,the difference [(55.33 ± 6.77 s) vs (74.53 ± 6.85 s)] was significant(P < 0.01).Group N (88.44 ±7.79 s,79.52 ± 8.02 s,69.54 ± 10.14 s and 62.49 ± 7.22 s respectively) also improved significantly more than group C (98.99 ± 6.84 s,91.45 ± 8.91 s,79.65 ± 12.47 s and 74.53 ± 6.85 s respectively) from week 1 to 4 (P < 0.01).The average number of times of passing through the platform area of group N in four weeks (3.00 ± 0.54,3.38 ± 0.74,4.38 ± 1.06 and 6.00 ± 0.76 respectively) and group T from the second week on(3.25 ± 1.28,5.00 ± 0.93 and 5.88 ± 0.99 respectively) were significantly higher than that of group C (1.25 ± 0.71,1.50 ± 0.54,2.13 ± 1.25 and 3.00 ± 0.54 respectively) accordingly (P < 0.01).At the week four,the average number of BDNF-positive cells in group T(128.56 ± 7.93) were significantly larger than that in group C and group N (P < 0.05),with no significant difference was noted between group N and group C (P >0.05).Conclusions Treadmill exercise could improve the spatial learning and memory of rats after mild traumatic brain injury.This may be related with the up-regulation of expression of BDNF in the hippocampus.
5.Effect of laparoscopic cholecystectomy on systemic stress response

Objective To investigate the systemic stress responses of laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC). Methods Seventy patients with cholecystolithiasis were randomly divided into two groups: LC and open cholecystectomy(OC). Peripheral blood samples were obtained during the preoperative day and 1, 3, 5, 7 day after operation. Serum cytokines levels (TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6) and C-reactive protein(CRP) were measured. Results Changes of TNF-α and IL-1β before or after surgery in both groups showed no significant difference(P>0.05). Serum concentrations of IL-6 and CRP after surgery in both groups were significantly higher than those before surgery(P<0.05); but there were no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusions The systemic stress responses of LC have no significant difference comparing with OC.

Objective To explore the effect of hemeoxygenease/carbon monoxide system on hypoxic pulumonary vascular structural remodeling. Objective To assess the vitro susceptibility to 6 antimicrobial agents and genotypes of clinical isolates of Chlamydia trachomatis (Ct) from Guangzhou region. Methods Ct was isolated from clinical specimens by using McCoy cell culture and subjected to propagation. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) of 6 antimicrobial agents (clarithromycin, roxithromycin, azithromycin, doxycycline, tetracycline, ofloxacin) against Ct isolates were determined in McCoy cell culture. Nested PCR was performed to amplify the outer membrane protein 1 (omp1) VS1-2 gene followed by sequencing. Results Seventy-six Ct strains were isolated from 346 urogenital specimens, and 40 strains met the require ments for susceptibility testing after serial propagation. The MIC50/MIC90 of clarithromycin, azithromycin, roxi thromycin, doxycycline, tetracycline and ofloxacin were as follows: 0.008/0.032, 0.080/0.160, 0.125/0.500, 0.032/0.064, 0.250/0.500 and 0.500/1.000 mg/L. Seven genotypes were observed. The most prevalent geno types in decreasing order were E (14, 35%), J (10, 25%)and F (6, 15%). The MIC50 was consistent for azithromycin among the 7 genotypes, but varied by 1 - 4 folds for doxycycline, ofloxacin and roxithromycin. Conclusions Clarithromycin, doxycycline and azithromycin exhibit an excellent activity against Ct, and the activity of azithromycin is consistent among the 7 genotypes of Ct.
8.Rapid detection of pathogenic mycoplasmas in genitourinary tract using PCR-reverse dot blot hybridization

Objective To develop a PCR-mverse dot blot hybridization(RDB)assay to rapidly detect pathogenic mycoplasmas in genitourinary tract.Methods Universal primers were designed and applied to amplify the 16S rRNA gone of ureaplasma parvum(Up),ureaplasma urealyticum(Uu),Mycoplasma genitalium(Mg),Mycoplasma hominis(Mh)by using nestcd PCR.Specific nucleotide probes of Up,Uu,Mg and Mh Were constructed and immobilized onto nylon membranes.PCR products were denatured and hybridized、with specific oligonucleofide probes on nylon membrane.The sensitivity and specificity of the PCR-RDB assay were evaluated based.on the hybddizafion results.Also,PCR-RDB Was utilized to detect pathogenic mycoplasmas from 60 clinical samples.Results The four probes selectively hybridized with the PCR product of corresponding mycoplasmas,and no cross hybridization was observed.The detection limit of PCR-RDB Was one colony forming unit(CFU)of mycoplasma.Out of the 60 clinical samples、19were positive for mycoplasm,Mixed infections were found in three samples,including two coinfected with Up and Uu and one with Uu and Mg.Conclusion PCR-RDB is a rapid,specific and sensitive approach to the identification of pathogenic mycoplasmas in urogenital tract.
9.The Significance of fibrin monomer,D-Dimer and other blood coagulation indicators detection in the early diagnosis of DIC in obstetrics

Objective To investigate the significance of fibrin monomer(FM ) ,D‐Dimer(D‐D) and other blood coagulation indica‐tors detection in the early diagnosis of disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC) in obstetrics .Methods 90 healthy women with‐out pregnancy(control group) ,270 normal pregnant women including early ,mid‐,late pregnancy(90 cases for each) ,36 early DIC puerperas(early DIC group) were enrolled in the study .FM ,D‐D ,prothrombin time (PT ) ,activated partial coagulation activity (APTT) ,fibrinogen(FIB) levels were detected for those people .Results The levels of D‐D and FM in early DIC group were signif‐icantly higher than those in control group (P<0 .05) ,and PT ,APTT in late pregnant group were significantly shorter than those in early ,mid‐pregnant group and control group ,while FIB was significantly higher ,the difference was statistically significant(P<0 .05) .Conclusion PT ,APTT and FIB can reflect the high blood coagulation state in the late pregnancy ,but can not be used in the diagnosis of early DIC .D‐D and FM have important value for the early diagnosis of DIC in obstetrics .

Objective To observe the stellate ganglion block (SGB) on obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) combined the curative effect of sleep respiration and blood pressure control in patients with hypertension.Methods Incorporating meets the criteria for the OSAS patients with high blood pressure in hospital order randomly assigned into normal group and experimental group and routine group was given antihypertension drugs,adjustment in lifestyle,continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment,the experimental group on the basis of conventional treatment at the same time give SGB to intervene.Using t test on admission and intervention were compared after a period of treatment in patients with sleep apnea and blood pressure control,using 2 test comparison blood pressure control rates of two groups patients.Results Compared with normal group,the experimental group after intervention in a course of apnea hypoventilation index (AHI),SaO2 and 24 h mean arterial pressure were obviously improved,the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion SGB as a new treatment method,not only can improve clinical symptoms in patients with OSAS,but also make the patients get better control of blood pressure.
