OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of immunological orchitis on spermatic specific enzyme and fertility.
METHODSExperimental allergic orchitis (EAO) model of guinea pigs was duplicated. The histological and morphological changes of spermatic acrosomal protease and hyaluronidase, lactate dehydrogenase, sperm in epididymis and testes were observed by means of enzyme kinetical spectrophotometry and gelatin fixation of substrate thin membrane.
RESULTSThe activity of acrosomal protease, hyaluronidase and spermatic cytoplasmic lactic dehydrogenase in the epididymis acrosomal enzyme system became low, and so did the quality of sperm in epididymis. Remarkable morphological changes of spermatogenic cells developed in the convoluted seminiferous tubules.
CONCLUSIONSEAO remarkably affects the fertility of male guinea pigs. The orchis and epididymal sperms might be the sites of action.

This study was aimed to investigate the effect of RPMI 1640 and IMDM on the development of human peripheral blood monocyte-derived dendritic cells. Under the same cytokines and culture conditions, the different medium types were tested, and the morphology of mature and immature dendritic cells was observed by microscopy, the cell phenotype and endocytosis ability were detected by flow cytometry. Furthermore, the immunoregulatory function of various DC was analyzed by mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR), the expression of cytokine in culture supernatant of MLR system was also analyzed by Bio-plex technology. The results showed that there were no difference in morphology, CD14, CD83 expression and endocytosis ability between IMDM-cultured DC and RPMI-1640 medium-cultured DC, but there was a lower expression of CD1a in IMDM-cultured DC. Moreover, DC cultured with IMDM displayed a significant reduction in stimulating T cell proliferation, and highly expressed IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10, but low expressed IL-12. It is concluded that the different cultural mediums can induce DC with different functions and DC cultured with IMDM may correlated with induction of immune tolerance. The results of this study will provide a new idea for DC clinical application.

Chinese journal of integrative medicine 2012;18(8):610-615
OBJECTIVETo study the effects of tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) on cardiac function and mortality rate in septic rats.
METHODSFifty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into a sham-operation group (sham group, n=10), normal saline group (NS group, n=20), and TMP group (n=20). The rats in the NS and TMP groups underwent cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) to induce sepsis. Rats in the NS group were injected with NS (10 mL/kg) immediately after CLP and 6 h after CLP. Rats in the TMP group were injected with TMP (10 mg/kg) at the same time points. Twenty-four hours after modeling, the mortality rates were observed in each group. Cardiac function and serum concentration of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) were also tested. The correlation between TNF-α and the ejection fraction (EF) was observed. Left ventricle specimens were reserved for histomorphologic study.
RESULTSCompared with the sham group, the NS and TMP groups had decreased EF values and increased mortality rates and serum TNF-α levels (P <0.05). The TMP group had a comparatively lower mortality rate and TNF-α level and a higher EF value compared with the NS group (P <0.05). Histomorphology indicated that myocardial inflammation in the TMP group was mild compared with that in the NS group. There was a negative correlation between TNF-α level and EF value (r=-0.583,P=0.000).
CONCLUSIONTMP could reduce the mortality rate of septic rats and had certain protective effects on cardiac function.

OBJECTIVE: To provide a new method to estimate t he effectiveness of thoracolumbar vertebral finite element model. METHODS: A mechanical model of human thoracolumbar vertebrae mo tion segment was made using three-dimensional finite element method and the str ess distribution of vertically compressed thoracolumbar vertebrae was analyzed, meanwhile, 20 patients with burst fracture of thoracolumbar vertebrae were t ested by CT to calculated average CT value at ascertained different points of th oracolumbar vertebrae. The calculated results and effective stress at the same p osition were analyzed with straight line correlation. RESULTS: The stress level of different position of thoracolumba r vertebrae under vertical compressive force was positively correlated with the correlative CT value, and the regressive style, Y=214.028+45.268X, r=0.7386, P<0.05 (n=8) showed a statistical significance. CONCLUSIONS: To study mechanism of thoracolumbar vertebrae in juries under different forces has clinical significance.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the revascularization and the opportunity of cross-finger flap. METHODS: An animal model was developed to permit daily monit oring of neovascularization of the flap with autoradiography, tissue transparent technique, gross observation and histological examination. RESULTS: The revascularization of the flap was chiefly raised f rom the surrounding tissues. The pedicles of 334 cross-finger flaps of the pati ents were successfully divided from 1 to 5 d after operations, averagely 3. 3 d. All of the cases showed satisfatory results according to a follow-up sur vey of 3 to 72 mon. The results further proved that the revascularization of the cross-finger flaps had accomplished within 3 d. CONCLUSIONS: It suggests that the division of a cross-finger f lap can be carried out between the 3rd and 5th day after operation with a high d egree of safety.

Background:Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the liver manifestation of metabolic syndrome, and may be related with the incidence of colorectal polyps. However, studies on the correlation between NAFLD and colorectal polyps are rare. Aims:To investigate the correlation between NAFLD and colorectal polyps. Methods:Clinical data of 130 asymptomatic patients accepted physical examination were retrospectively analyzed. Detection rates of NAFLD and colorectal polyps were evaluated, and the correlations with body mass index(BMI),hs-CRP,triglyceride,low density lipoprotein, total cholesterol, alanine aminotransferase(ALT),glutamyltranspeptidase(GGT)were analyzed. Results:Compared with non-NAFLD patients, the detection rate of colorectal polyps in NAFLD patients was significantly increased (66.3% vs. 40.0%,P=0.003 9),BMI,triglyceride and ALT were significantly increased(P<0.05). However,no significant differences in hs-CRP,low density lipoprotein, total cholesterol and GGT were found between NAFLD and non-NAFLD patients. Compared with non-colorectal polyps patients, the average age of patients with colorectal polyps was higher(P =0.013),and detection rate of NAFLD was significantly increased(72.6% vs. 47.4%,P =0.003 9). However,no significant differences in BMI,hs-CRP,triglyceride,low density lipoprotein, total cholesterol,ALT,GGT were found between colorectal polyps group and non-colorectal polyps group(P>0.05). Conclusions:NAFLD may be closely correlated with the incidence of colorectal polyps.
