1.Research progress on the relationship between KPNA2 and tumors
Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2016;43(17):780-784
KPNA2 is a member of the karyopherin family. Given its function in nucleocytoplasmic transport, KPNA2 mediates the trans-location of various proteins and is involved in numerous cellular processes, such as cellular differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis, transcriptional regulation, immune response, and viral infection. Several studies have recently demonstrated that KPNA2 is upregulat-ed in multiple malignancies. Its aberrant expression is often associated with adverse outcomes in affected patients, indicating that KP-NA2 plays a significant role in carcinogenesis and tumor progression. These findings are supported by previous studies, which reported that KPNA2 may have a functional role in the malignant transformation of cells. This study provides an overview of the research prog-ress in KPNA2 and its functional roles in multiple cancers.
2. The expressions of integrin alpha 3 and MMP-9 in pancreatic adenocarcinoma and their association with clinical pathological characteristics
Tumor 2008;28(5):423-426
Objective: To detect the expressions of integrin alpha 3 and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in pancreatic adenocarcinoma, and investigate their relationahip with clinicopathological parameters, furthermore analyze the correlation between integrin alpha 3 and MMP-9. Methods: We collected 100 cases of paraffin-embedded pancreatic adenocarcinoma tissues. The expressions of integrin alpha3 and MMP-9 were detected by immunohistochemical labelled streptavidin biotin ( LsAB) methods. Results: Ninety eight percent pancreatic adenocarcinomas were integrin alpha3-positive and 75% pancreatic adenocarcinomas highly expressed integrin alpha 3. The expressions of integrin alpha 3 in head, neck and uncinate pancreatic adenocarcinomas were stronger than those in pancreatic adenocarcinomas located at body and tail (P=0.041). Increased expression of integrin alpha3 was associated with local lymph node metastasis (P=0.012). Eighty one percent pancreatic adenocarcinomas expressed MMP-9 and 39% of them showed strongly positive. There was no correlation between the expression of MMP-9 and age, gender, tumor location, tumor grade, duodenum invasion, local lymph node metastasis, perineural invasion or TNM stage. The expression of MMP-9 positively correlated with the expression of integrin alpha 3. Conclusion: Expression of integrin alpha 3 correlates with the location of pancreatic adenocarcinomas and plays a role in local lymph node metastasis. Integrin alpha 3 might up-regulate the expression of MMP-9.
3.Roles of autophagy in cardiovascular diseases:research progression
Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2017;36(5):589-593
The morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases(CVD)are still high in our country, they severely threaten peopleS health and quality of life.A dysregulated or reduced autophagy is associated with ischemic heart disease, cardiac hypertrophy, heart failure and arrhythmia.Autophagy is a key regulator in CVD development, and is essential for maintenance of heart function and improvement of prognosis. Thus, modulating autophagy represents an attractive future therapeutic target for treating cardiovascular disease. This article reviewed the research progression about effects of autophagy on ischemic heart disease, cardiac hypertrophy, heart failure and arrhythmia.
4.Relationship between waist circumference and prevalence of metabolic syndrome in Beijing elderly residents
Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2012;11(5):360-362
Total 7594 elderly subjects from three urban districts in Beijing were enrolled in the study with randomized cluster sampling design. Physical examination and fasting plasma glucose test were undertaken for all participants.Based on the diagnosis criteria from The Guidelines of Dyslipidemia Control for Chinese Adults in 2007,the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) was 26.57% (2018/7594) and the prevalence of central obesity was 42.04% ( 3193/7594 ).Using waist circumference ( WC ) as independent variable and MS prevalence as dependant variable,we developed a “Central obesity-Metabolic Syndrome”multiple regression model. The results showed that among those having WC higher than cutoff point, with each 3.3 cm reduction of WC,the prevalence of MS decreased by 4.5%.Therefore,central obesity can be used an important clinical target of MS for both prevention and treatment purposes.
5.Relationship of Survivin and Caspase-3 protein in ovarian serous tumors and their clinical signifficance
Cancer Research and Clinic 2012;24(5):308-310
Objective To investgate the expression of Survivin and Caspase-3 in primary ovarian carcinoma, and to explore their relationship. Methods The expression of Survivin and Caspase-3 was detected by flow cytometry (FCM) . Results FCM showed that the expression of Survivin in ovarian serous carcinoma was higher than that in serous cystadenoma and normal ovarian tissues (F=19.80;P=0.00) and correlated with the clinical stage( t=2.882,P=0.009).The expression of Caspase-3 in ovarian serous carcinoma was higher than that in serous cystadenoma and normal ovarian tissues (F=16.32,P=0.00)and has no correlativity with clinical stage, histological grade, and lymph metastasis(P>0.05).Survivin expression was negatively correlated with Caspase-3 expression in ovarian serous tumors (r=0.43,P=0.029).Conclusion Survivin was negatively correlated with Caspase-3 in ovarian serous tumors.Combination of detecting the two protein expressions might be valuable in diagnosis and determining the malignant degree in ovarian serous carcinoma.
6.Protein expressions and clinical significance of β-catenin and glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta in the gastric carcinomas
Journal of Chinese Physician 2012;14(9):1189-1192
ObjectiveTo investigate the expressions ofβ-catenin and glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta(GSK-3β) proteins in the gastric carcinomas and to elucidate their clinical significance. Methods The expressions of β-catenin and GSK3-β proteins were analyzed with immunohistochemistry staining of gastric tissue array in the normal gastric mucosa (n =48),paracancerous tissues ( n =24),and primary cancer tissues ( n =48).ResultsThe positive expression rate ofβ-catenin and GSK-3β in gastric carcinomas was 66.7% and 35.4%,respectively,and β-catenin protein expression in carcinomas was higher than normal and paracancerous tissues ( x2 =65.455,P < 0.05 ).The expression of β-catenin was correlated with cell differential degree,pTNM stage, histological type, lymph node memtastasis, and nerve invasion, respectively ( x2 =4.713,8.242,13.662,11.658,4.550,P < 0.05 or P < 0.01 ).The positive expression rate of GSK3βin carcinomas was lower than normal and paracancerous tissues ( x2 =26.968,P < 0.05).The expression of GSK-3β was correlated with cell differential degree, histological type, and lymph node metastasis, respectively (x2 =3.868,9.665,9.872,P < 0.05 or P < 0.01 ).The expression of β-catenin was negatively correlated with the expression of GSK-3βprotein in the gastric carcinoma tissues ( r =-0.493,P =0.001 ).ConclusionsGSK3-β and β-catenin might play important roles in the progression, differentiation, infiltration, lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma, and might be the indicators for diagnosis of a gastric carcinoma.
